NAGPUR: After both the tracks were thrown open for traffic near Sindi Railway, between Nagpur and Sewagram, passenger train movement started rolling simultaneously on both the tracks that had been damaged due to rains on July 19.After a 17-hour mega block on Thursday-Friday, the railways set everything right on the 360 metre damaged section of the track. More than 1,000 employees, including 100 officers, worked round-the-clock under the supervision of DRM Brijesh Dixit.Central Railway PRO PD Patil informed that all the passenger trains will operate as scheduled and there will be no more diversion or short termination of trains. However, trains will continue to operate with speed restriction at the affected spot.Meanwhile, passengers of Delhi-Chennai Rajdhani Express who arrived in Nagpur on July 24, have blamed the railways' lack of communication for their hardship. "Rajdhani is the only train which has public announcement system inside. Yet, passengers were not informed about the diversion of trains. It was only at Bhusawal we learnt about it," said a passenger.The railways spent huge money on expanding IT network for sharing information and providing better services to the passengers but it failed to utilize the services in the hour of crisis. "Announcements should have been made at Delhi and other major stations in between but this was not done," complained Sunil Razdan, another passenger.

The Chennai Corporation council has approved reconstruction of Royapuram Bridge (no. 4) by the Railways to facilitate the restoration of Royapuram terminus.

The reconstructed bridge will help accommodate a third and fourth rail line on the stretch. Higher and wider, it will also help to ease traffic congestion in the area. The existing bridge is 10.85 metre wide . However, as the approach road to Old Washermenpet is 15 metres wide, the Corporation has suggested a 15-metre-wide carriageway on the bridge to facilitate free flow of traffic.

The council also asked the Railways to reconstruct under the supervision of Corporation engineers to ensure better planning for traffic infrastructure.

PUNE: The court of special judge SudhakarYarlagadda on Friday granted bail to a Railways' chief loco inspector, arrested for allegedly falsifying records to siphon off high-speed diesel worth Rs 10 crore, as the CBI, Pune, failed to file a chargesheet against him within 90 days of his arrest.Yarlagadda has sought an explanation from the investigating officer in this regard within one week as to why he did not file the chargesheet within the stipulated time.Virsingh Chaudhary, the chief loco inspector of the Daund railway consumer depot, is a resident of Janata Colony in Daund. The Bombay high court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea on April 2. He was arrested after he surrendered before the CBI on April 25.According to the prosecution, Chaudhary misused his position to falsify documents with the help of senior officials and pilfer 20.33 lakh litre of high-speed diesel. The case against them was registered on February 20.

Quoting section 167 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Code, Chaudhary's lawyer Suhas Kolhe told the court the accused had a right to seek bail if the CBI failed to file a chargesheet in time against him within 90 days of his arrest.

Special public prosecutor Vivek Saxena said the chargesheet could not be filed on time because the investigations in the case were spread all over the country. He said the railway consumer depot had supplied diesel to more then 25 loco sheds in the country and the investigating officer had so far seized 28 registers containing 33,000 entries to determine the fraud committed by the suspects between April 2011 and August 2012.

The investigating officer is also in the process of recording statements of loco inspectors posted at all loco sheds in the country. The impact of the offence is so widespread that it was not possible for the CBI to file a chargesheet within 90 days of the arrest, Saxena said.

After hearing both sides, Yarlagadda ordered that Chaudhary be released on bail on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 25,000 with solvent surety of the like amount. Chaudhary was warned not to influence the prosecution witnesses or tamper with the evidence. He was directed to cooperate with the CBI whenever he was called in for questioning.

Madrid - The driver of a fast-moving train that flew off the tracks in north-western Spain, killing at least 80 people, was unable to brake in time, the newspaper El Pais reported on Friday.

The investigation into the cause of the nation's deadliest rail disaster since 1944 has focused on a possible problem with the brakes and speeding by the driver, the newspaper said.

The accident happened on Wednesday evening as the train entered a sharp curve known as “A Gandeira” about four kilometres from the station in the northern city of Santiago de Compostela.

Dramatic video footage from a security camera showed the train slamming into a concrete wall at the side of the track as the engine overturned, piling carriages on top of each other in a smouldering wreckage of mangled steel.

The train was reportedly travelling at twice the limit on a section of high-speed track that has a speed limit of 80km/h.

“The railway warning systems detected that Francisco Jose Garzon Amo, the driver of the Alvia train that departed Madrid, was travelling at 190km/h when it should not exceed 80km/h,” reported El Pais.

“The driver acknowledged that the alarm went off in the control panel and he tried to brake, but was not able to avert the tragedy,” the newspaper added.

El Pais said o Thursday that the driver stated immediately after the crash that he had been travelling at 190km/h at the time of the derailment.

“I hope no one died because it will weigh on my conscience,” he reportedly told supervisors over the radio while trapped inside the cab after the eight-carriage train derailed.

Police are waiting to question the driver, who, according to state train company Renfe, has more than a decade of train-driving experience.

He is in hospital under police surveillance as he undergoes treatment for light injuries sustained in the accident. - Sapa-AFP

Minister of State for Railways Adhir Chowdhury today urged the West Bengal government and the public representatives to come forward and help in the completion of phase I of the East-West Metro corridor. Chowdhury said the state government should shed its ego and come forward as the East-West Metro project would be a feather in its cap. "The work of the East-West Metro project is going on fine. But if the (state) government and the public representatives come forward and help then it would be much better," said Choudhury after visiting the East-West Metro project work here. Choudhury cited the example of Trinamool Congress MLA Paresh Pal, who had helped in solving land problems for East West Metro project at Swabhumi. "Paresh Pal had helped in solving the land problem in Swabhumi. So if other public representatives also come forward then it would be of great help. There is no place for ego, if the project comes up successfully then it would be a feather in state government's cap only," said Choudhury.

Choudhury, who was on a site visit, faced series of protests from those who have refused to give away their land for the project.

South-Western Railway (SWR) has decided to continue to run weekly Garib Rath express train numbers 06511 and 06512 Yeshwanthpur-Jaipur-Yeshwanthpur, for 22 special journeys in each direction. Train number 06511 will depart from Yeshwanthpur at 5.10 am on Sunday and arrive at Jaipur at 3.50 am on Tuesday, between August 4 and December 29. In the return journey, train number 06512 Jaipur-Yeshwanthpur Weekly Garib Rath Express will depart from Jaipur at 3.30 pm on Tuesday and arrive at Yeshwanthpur at 3.10 pm on Thursday, between August 6 and December 31.
The SWR has also decided to permanently attach two additional general second class chair cars to train numbers 16215 and 16216 of Chamundi Express, on the Mysore-Bangalore-Mysore route, with immediate effect. Meanwhile South Central Railway (SCR) has decided to augment train numbers 17209 and 17210 Kakinada Town-Bangalore city-Kakinada Town express, including one additional AC 3-tier coach on temporary measure, for clearance of rush between July 25 and July 31.
One general second-class coach will be withdrawn temporarily from the train numbers 12607 and 12608 Chennai-Bangalore city-Chennai lalbagh express as well as from train numbers 12609 and 12610 Chennai-Bangalore city-Chennai express, to facilitate maintenance at pit line No.2 at Bangalore City station. The number of coaches will decrease from 21 to 20, effective on August 1.

प्रतापगढ़। वन पीआरएल ट्रेन के पार्सल यान से लाखों रुपये का कपड़ा चोरी हो गया। चोरों ने पार्सल यान को काटकर कपड़े चोरी किए और गेट अंदर से बंद कर दिया।
लखनऊ से प्रयागघाट चलने वाली ट्रेन टू पीआरएल कहलाती है। यही ट्रेन जब प्रयागघाट से लखनऊ के लिए चलती है तो वन पीआरएल हो जाती है। गुरुवार को इस ट्रेन पर जिले के दो व्यापारियों ने लखनऊ से लाखों रुपये का कपड़ा भेजा। ट्रेन जब स्टेशन पर पहुंची तो गेट खोलने का प्रयास किया गया लेकिन यह नहीं खुल सका। यह ट्रेन जब प्रयागघाट से शाम को फिर लखनऊ के लिए लौटी तो पार्सल के लोगों ने इसे चेक करना शुरू किया। देखा तो इसके ऊपर से पतरा काटकर चोरों ने कपड़े की सभी गांठें पार कर दीं और अंदर से गेट लाक कर दिया। ट्रेन से माल गायब होने की जानकारी होते ही व्यापारियों के होश उड़ गए। इसमें शहर के संतोष केसरवानी के बोरे से पूरा माल गायब था जबकि नागेश चंद्र मिश्र के बोरे से 75 प्रतिशत माल गायब था। दोनों का मिलाकर लगभग एक लाख पांच हजार रुपये का कपड़ा गायब हुआ है। इसकी सूचना आरपीएफ को दी गई तो वह भी मौके पर पहुंची। जानकारी मिलने पर व्यापार मंडल पदाधिकारी भी मौके पर पहुंचे।
ट्रेन से माल गायब होने की सूचना पर पहुंचे व्यापार मंडल ने कहा कि कि ट्रेनों में इन दिनों चोरी की घटनाएं बढ़ गईं हैं। इसकी तरफ रेलवे का ध्यान नहीं जा रहा है। आए दिन व्यापारियों को हजारों रुपये का नुकसान उठाना पड़ रहा है। कुछ दिन पहले पद्मावत, फिर मुगलसराय पैसेंजर इसके बाद साकेत में भी चोरी हुई थी। इन मामलों में न तो कोई कार्रवाई हो पाती है और न ही इनका सुराग लग पाता है। व्यापारियों ने कहा कि इस मामले डीआरएम से लखनऊ में मिलकर मामले का खुलासा कराने की मांग की जाएगी।

१९ जुलैचा तो दिवस.. मुसळधार पाऊस सुरू होता, नदी-नाले तुडुंब भरून वाहत होते. सिंदीनजीक रेल्वे रूळाखालील गिट्टी व माती पूर्णत: वाहून गेली. रूळ तरंगत होते.. हे दृश्य अंधारात मोबाईलच्या प्रकाशात रेल्वेरूळाचाच रस्ता धरत घर गाठणार्‍या निलेश ढोबळे नामक तरुणाने बघितले आणि त्याच्या काळजाचा थरकाप उडाला.
अपलाईनवर अहमदाबाद एक्स्प्रेस व डाऊन लाईनवर पटना एक्स्प्रेस या दोन्ही गाड्यांना ग्रीन सिग्नल होता. प्रसंगावधान राखत त्याने क्षणाचाही विलंब न लावता रेल्वेच्या कर्मचार्‍यांना याबाबत माहिती दिली. तत्काळ दोन्ही बाजूच्या रेल्वेस्थानकांवर सूचना पोहोचली आणि गाड्या जागच्या जागी थंबविण्यात आल्या. मोठा अनर्थ टळला. ज्याने शेकडो प्रवाशांचा जीव वाचविला तो नीलेश पडद्यामागचा हिरो ठरला आहे. रेल्वे प्रशासनाकडून त्याला कौतुकाची थाप मिळाली नसली तरी आपण देशासाठी काही करू शकलो, याचे समाधान त्याला सुखावून जाते.
रूळाखालील माती, गिट्टी वाहून जाण्याच्या काही वेळेपूर्वी अप मार्गावरून दक्षिण एक्स्प्रेस व डाऊन मार्गावरून अमरावती-नागपूर लोकल गेली होती. लोकलमधून नीलेश रामभाऊ ढोबळे रा. पिपरा हा युवक सिंदी रेल्वेस्थानकावर उतरला.
