Nagpur News: The Nagpur Division of Central Railway has finally announced normalcy in train traffic after a 7-day “war” over the restoration of Up and Down rail lines between Sindi and Tuljapur Stations in Nagpur Section. The “war” bore fruits and at 3.30 pm of July 26, the first train passed through the section thus bringing the much much needed normalcy and providing a sigh of relief for thousands of passengers who underwent hellish ordeals by cancellation of dozens of long-distance trains, diversion of several trains, short-termination of trains and very very late running of trains.

The Central Railway press release issue at 3.30 pm of July 26 said, “From tomorrow, the normal activities could be seen at the Nagpur Railway Station as either no trains will be cancelled or diverted or short-terminated or rescheduled. Trains originating from Nagpur will run on scheduled time and scheduled routes.”

“The job of restoration of washed away tracks was short of a war. All the concerned departments, officials and employees worked as a team against all odds like heavy downpour, transporting required material to the spot. Around 500 wagons brought stones, sandbags, gitti (crushed stones). The Divisional Railway Manager Brujesh Dixit and other top officials reached the spot and immediately started restoration works on war-footing. The restoration, and the subsequent normalcy was achieved by Nagpur Division’s 1000 employees and 100 officials under the guidance of DRM Dixit who worked day and night,” the press release said.

It may be recalled, heavy rains that lashed Wardha and Nagpur had disrupted the train traffic as the ballast under the Railway track and bank including minor bridge was washed out away completely between Sindi and Tuljapur station on Nagpur–Wardha section of Nagpur division. The disaster of a sort triggered a terrible chain reactions as dozens of trains were either cancelled or diverted or terminated at the specific stations and resumed their journey back to the originated stations.

The disaster created a hell of a situation for thousands and thousands of passengers as they either found themselves stranded at Nagpur Station or had to go to the several stations of diverted trains. This nightmarish situation forced hundreds of passengers to cancel tickets, other hundreds went through ordeals of boarding trains from diverted routes thus making them feel in hell.

फिरोजपुर के लोगों को 15 अगस्त से नई देश की राजधानी से जुड़ने के लिए एक और ट्रेन का तोहफा मिल सकता है। पूर्व रेलमंत्री पवन बंसल ने दो रेलगाड़ियों को मुक्तसर के माघी मेले में घोषणा की थी उसमें से इंटरसिटी नामक ट्रेन को चलाने के लिए मूर्त रूप देने की कोशिश की जा रही है। यह ट्रेन फिरोजपुर से सुबह 4.45 पर फिरोजपुर से चल कर दिल्ली के सराय रूहेला 10.45 मिनट पर पहुंचेगी। रेलवे के सूत्र बताते हैं कि सारी तैयारियां पूरी हो चुकी हैं लेकिन अभी दिल्ली से अधिकारिक तौर पर कोई आदेश नहीं आया है। किसी भी गाड़ी के चलने के दो दिन पहले दिल्ली से आदेश आता है। वहीं रेल मंडल प्रबंधक नरेश चंद्र गोयल का कहना है कि अभी दिल्ली से उन्हें कोई आधिकारिक सूचना नहीं मिली है। वहीं कांग्रेस के गुरुहरसहाय के विधायक राणा गुरमीत सिंह सोढ़ी ने बताया कि वे दिल्ली में इस मामले में लगातार प्रयास कर रहे हैं ताकि फिरोजपुर की जनता को कोई बड़ा तोहफा दे सकें। इस मामले में दोबारा 29 तारीख को रेल मंत्री मल्लिकार्जुन खडगे से फिर मिलने वाले हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि फिरोजपुर में पहले लोगों को जनता एक्सप्रेस के भरोसे रहना पड़ता था और उस ट्रेन के चलने से तमाम राहत मिलेगी।

Vadodara/Anand: A second pair of train service between Nadiad and Modasa was flagged off from Nadiad railway station on Friday.

Union minister for mines and Kheda MP Dinsha Patel flagged off the regularized second pair of train service (train number 59153/59154) in the presence of Vadodara divisional railway manager N K Shukla at 10 am over the Nadiad-Modasa broad gauge section.

The Nadiad-Modasa narrow gauge section was converted into broad gauge section and opened for traffic from October 27, 2002 with only one pair of train running over this section.

A daily average of 799 number of unreserved passengers is booked over this section which fetches earnings of Rs 6,376.

The train covers Nadiad, Mahudha, Bhaner-Minawada road, Kathlal, Kapadwanj, Vadali Letar Road, Kashipura, Bayad, Dhansura and Modasa stations.

Kolkata/HOWRAH: The state governments will have to bear the responsibility for crimes against women on trains and railway premises as most of them are escorted by the Government Railway Police (GRP), minister of state for railways Adhir Chowdhury said in Kolkata on Friday.Chowdhury said this in reply to questions by journalists at the inauguration of the 61st All India Railways Table Tennis Championship, 2013 at the BNR Officers' Club in the South Eastern Railway's headquarters at Garden Reach.On Sunday evening, a 25-year-old techie jumped out from a running long-distance train near the Belur station, about six km from Howrah, after being allegedly tormented by a molester in a compartment meant for women. The Delhi-Janata Express - from which she jumped - was supposed to have a GRP escort. After the incident, GRP officers had claimed that escorts are only provided in the night. Moreover, there aren't sufficient personnel available at the moment due to the panchayat elections in West Bengal, they had said.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is primarily entrusted with protection of railway property. Law and order being a state subject, the GRP - half of the expenses of which are borne by the railways - deal with crime against passengers, either on trains or station premises. According to Chowdhury, of the over 17,000 trains run by the Indian Railways everyday, only 2,200 are escorted by RPF personnel (under an arrangement with the GRP). There had been effort by the Centre to grant more powers to the RPF but there were objections from the state governments.

"Apart from the 2,200 long-distance trains, security on all others and stations are provided by the GRP. The GRP is managed by the state governments and the railways just foot 50% cost. There is no way that the railways can be blamed for any crime on trains or station premises," the minister said. Of the 2,200 trains with RPF escorts, 440 are from Howrah, Sealdah or the Kolkata stations.

The only exception to this rule is the Metro Railway in Kolkata. Though the Metro Railway Police (a part of Kolkata Police) is essentially in charge of law and order, the RPF does patrol the stations and trains and has also set up special squads to prevent crime against women.

In the evening, Choudhury visited the East-West Metro construction site at Howrah Maidan, but could shed little light on its future. "We are not getting cooperation from the state government, so work has been stalled. The state must extend full co-operation for execution of any Metro project. The issue of route realignment is getting more and more complex," the minister said.

The Rs 4,875-crore project that proposes to connect the cities of Howrah and Kolkata by rail through a tunnel below the Hooghly has been stalled since October, 2012, as the Mamata Banerjee government has been pushing for route-realignment. The uncertainty has left Afcons, the construction company, in the lurch since they can't dig in the tunnel boring machine to construct the underground tracks.

"Funds are not a problem. We shall generate another Rs 400 crore during this fiscal," Chowdhury said.

The sluggish progress of the gauge conversion (GC) work on the Punalur-Shengottai rail section may get further delayed following the caving-in of a portion of the 906-metres-long Aryankavu-Puliyara (Kottavasal) tunnel at 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

The portion that caved in was 25 metre from the Puliyara end, coming under the Madurai Railway Division. While the Aryankavu end is in Kerala, the Puliyara end is in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.

Railway sources said the development could further delay the completion of the fund-starved GC work. The tunnel, constructed in 1902 for metre gauge trains, was being widened to accommodate broad-gauge traffic. It was the roof portion that caved in, creating an open cavity above. The portion that came down was on the 500-metre course of the tunnel where widening work neared completion. Railway authorities said such caving-in was “usual during construction of tunnels through a geographical profile that is very fragile and prone to rock sliding”. They said the work had been awarded to a contractor who had a reputation in constructing tunnels in even more fragile locations of the Himalayan region.

Terming it as “roof funnelling” in civil construction terminology, the authorities said work for plugging the portion that caved-in would be taken up on a war footing immediately.

कड़ी मेहनत के बाद आखिरकार वह पल आ ही गया, जिसका रेल प्रशासन के साथ यात्री भी इंतजार कर रहे थे। शुक्रवार की दोपहर में हावड़ा-मुंबई रेल मार्ग पूरी तरह शुरू हो गया। अप व डाउन लाइन से ट्रेनों का आवागमन होने लगा। ऐसे में शनिवार को यात्रियों को एक सप्ताह के बाद लगभग सभी गाडिय़ों की सुविधा मिलेगी। हालांकि डेंजरप्वाइंट से गाडिय़ां धीमी रफ्तार से चलने की वजह गाडिय़ों की लेट-लतीफी जारी रह सकती है।
19 जुलाई को मध्य रेलवे नागपुर मंडल अंतर्गत सिंदी व तुलजापुर के बीच बाढ़ की वजह से रेल पटरी बुरी तरह से क्षतिग्रस्त हो गई थी। ऐसे में दो दिन मुंबई-नागपुर रेल मार्ग पूरी तरह से ठप रहा था। दो दिन बाद जैसे-तैसे डाउन लाइन की मरम्मत कर यहां से कुछ गाडिय़ों को निकाला गया। घटना के लगभग पांच दिन बाद अप लाइन को भी शुरू कर दिया। लेकिन केवल एक लाइन पर ही गाडिय़ों का आवागमन होने से डाउन लाइन कमजोर हो गई थी।
ऐसे में गुरुवार की रात से 17 घंटे का ब्लॉक लेकर फिर डाउन लाइन को बंद कर दिया गया। इस बीच 40 से अधिक गाडिय़ां रद्द हुई और 100 से ज्यादा गाडिय़ां परिवर्तित मार्ग से चलीं। 50 गाडिय़ों को आधे सफर से ही लौटाया गया, जिससे यात्रियों को भारी परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ा था। लेकिन शुक्रवार की दोपहर में 1.30 बजे डाउन लाइन का काम पूरा कर रेल यातायात को दोनों लाइन से शुरू कर दिया गया।
जिसके चलते शनिवार को यात्रियों को नागपुर स्टेशन से गुजरनेवाली लगभग हर गाड़ी की सुविधा मिल जाएगी। हालांकि रेलवे समय सारिणी को पटरी पर आने के लिए थोड़ा इंतजार यात्रियों को करना पड़ सकता है। डाउन लाइन पर मरम्मत कार्य शुरू रहने से शुक्रवार को 17 घंटों का मेगा ब्लॉक लिया गया था। ऐसे में कई गाडिय़ों के रूट बदले गए व कई गाडिय़ों को रद्द किया गया जिससे यात्रियों को हलाकान होना पड़ा।
ट्रेन क्रमांक 12119 अमरावती-अजनी इंटरसिटी एक्सप्रेस को रद्द किया गया था। वहीं 51285 भुसावल-नागपुर पैसेंजर नागपुर में नहीं आकर वर्धा से ही लौट गई। वहीं 57136 काजीपेठ-अजनी पैसेंजर भी अजनी में न आकर बल्लारशाह से ही रवाना हो गई। 12641 कन्याकुमारी-निजामुद्दीन एक्सप्रेस, 12687 चेन्नई-देहरादून एक्सप्रेस, 14259 रामेश्वरम-वाराणसी एक्सप्रेस, 12295 बंगलूरू-पटना एक्सप्रेस, 15016 यशवंतपुर-गोरखपुर एक्सप्रेस व 12975 मैसूर-जयपुर एक्सप्रेस नागपुर में न आकर बल्लारशाह, वर्धा, बडनेरा, भुसावल, खंडवा व इटारसी होकर गंतव्य की ओर बढ़ीं।

वाराणसी : काशी रेलवे स्टेशन के समीप भदऊं पुल की गुरुवार को गर्डर बदले गए। इस कारण कुछ देर के लिए ट्रेनों के परिचालन में बाधा आई। हालांकि इंजीनियरिंग विभाग ने पूर्वाह्न 10:30 से दोपहर 2 बजे तक ब्लाक लिया था। सहायक मंडल इंजीनियर रमेश सोलंकी ने बताया कि मेन लाइन पर काम नहीं हो रहा था। लिहाजा, ट्रेनों का परिचालन जारी रहा। इस दौरान मालगाड़ियां नहीं चल सकीं।
