South Central Railway will run 10 special trains between Aurangabad and Tirupati between August 2 and 31.

The special train No. 07405 Aurangabad-Tirupati will depart from Aurangabad on August 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 6.40 p.m. and arrive at Tirupati at 7 p.m. the next day. It will arrive at Vijayawada at 11.45 a.m. and depart from the station at 12.00 noon. In the return direction, Train No. 07506 Tirupati-Aurangabad special train will depart from Tirupati on August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 9.15 p.m. and arrive at Aurangabad at 8.30 p.m. the next day.

The train will arrive at Vijayawada 4.15 a.m. and depart from the station at 4.30 a.m.

En route, the special trains will halt at Jalna, Parbhani, Purna, Nanded, Mudkhed, Basar, Nizamabad, Kamareddi, Secunderabad, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, Tenali, Chirala, Ongole, Nellore, Gudur, Venkatagiri, Srikalahasti, and Renigunta in both directions.

The trains will comprise an AC 3 tier, six sleeper class, six general second class and two second class luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

A Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) detained a six-month pregnant woman and her husband at the Railway Protection Force station in Kollam on Monday for almost four hours for boarding a sleeper coach of the Kanyakumari-bound Jayanthi Janata Express at Karunagapally, the couple have alleged.

The couple, Rajeev and Liji, boarded the S3 sleeper coach as the general compartment was crowded, they said at a press conference here on Monday. As the train left the station the TTE, identified as Mathew Jacob, allegedly asked the couple to vacate it. The woman requested the TTE to consider her condition, and they be allowed to travel in the sleeper compartment standing.

The TTE examined the couple’s identity cards, and upon finding that they were from Paravur — where there was a showdown between TTEs and season-ticket holders travelling in sleeper coaches of the same train last Monday — said that they too were involved in that fracas and would be arrested. (On Monday, commuters had blocked the train for almost two hours at the station. The RPF had registered cases against more than 100 persons, some of whom were arrested at Thiruvananthapuram station and let off on self-bond.)

When they told the TTE that they would inform the media, they were charged with the offences of travelling in a reserved coach without a valid ticket, preventing the TTE from doing his duty, and threatening him.

The couple were later let off on self-bond. But they will have to appear before the Railway Court at Kollam when they receive the summons for the case. Rajeev is an employee at the Secretariat and Liji, an employee with the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department.

RPF version

The RPF authorities said they did not know what exactly had happened. The TTE had handed over the couple to an RPF personnel on the train, directing that they be taken to the Kollam RPF station and charged. It was on the basis of the complaint that the case was registered.

Allegedly asked to leave sleeper coach and shift to crowded general coach.

KANYAKUMARI: Rail users in the district have urged the railway authorities to operate daily trains from Kanyakumari to Hyderabad through Tirunelveli and Madurai, which, according to them would benefit nearly 15 districts in the state. They further said that the operation of such train would help a large number of people employed in Hyderabad and also increase the inflow of tourists.The Kanyakumari District Railway Users' Association (KKDRUA) has proposed the extension of 12603/12604 Chennai - Hyderabad - Chennai Express to Kanyakumari which will meet their demand.According to S R Sriram, president of the association, Kanyakumari district is provided with connectivity to all major cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore through daily train services and destinations like New Delhi, Howrah, Jammu Tawi through weekly train services. However, the important connectivity to Hyderabad is lacking for the region though thousands of people from the region are employed in various fields especially in the IT sector. "We urge the railways to extend the Chennai - Hyderabad -Chennai Express daily to Kanyakumari so that it will serve large number of people. It should be noted that the trains originating from Chennai towards Hyderabad hardly travel 70 km in the state and if extended, it will serve people of 15 districts of the state," he said.

P Edward Jeni, secretary of the association pointed out that there are many tourist attractions for those travelling from Andhra Pradesh especially the temples in Trichy, Madurai and Kanyakumari. "Even the government of Andhra Pradesh has approached the railways to operate trains to Kanyakumari for the benefit of its people travelling to Kanyakumari," he mentioned.

S Ravi, a consultant of Intellectual Property Rights in Hyderabad and hailing from the region also seconds the opinion. "There is a craze among the people here about travelling to Kanyakumari and visiting many temples. Besides, the sizeable workforce in IT services in Hyderabad is from Kanyakumari district with educational background. A train service to Kanyakumari from Hyderabad will receive abundant patronage," he stated.

At present, people who travel to Hyderabad from Kanyakumari district had to go to Chennai through night trains and spend the day in Chennai before boarding the evening trains to Hyderabad. "The direct train will be of great help for thousands of our people from the district who travel to Hyderabad this way," Jeni said. Recently, the railways started operating a weekly train from Madurai to Kacheguda which has enabled Deccan connectivity for the first time. "In addition to the daily train to Hyderabad, it can also be one more additional train to reach Chennai from the southern districts," a rail user from Madurai added.

गोरखालैंड की मांग को लेकर गोरखा जनमुक्ति मोरचा द्वारा आहूत 72 घंटे के पहाड़ बंद से विश्व प्रसिद्ध ट्वॉय ट्रेन का परिचालन एक बार फिर से ठप हो गया है। यह ट्रेन इन दिनों कर्सियांग से दार्जिलिंग तथा सिलीगुड़ी रंगटंग के बीच चलती थी। ट्रेन न चलने से इसका लुत्फ उठाने के इच्छुक पर्यटकों को निराशा ही हाथ लगी। डीएचआर सूत्रों द्वारा मिली जानकारी के अनुसार सोमवार को सिलीगुड़ी से रंगटंग के बीच दर्जनों यात्रियों ने ट्वॉय ट्रेन का सफर करने के लिए टिकट बुक कराए थे, जिन्हें रद करना पड़ा। डीएचआरके निदेशक ने कहा कि बंद की वजह से ट्वॉय ट्रेन का परिचालन रोकना पड़ा है। बंद खत्म होने के बाद परिचालन सुचारु हो सकेगा।

गोरखपुर : माल ढुलाई से पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे की आय में बढोत्तरी हुई है। आरंभिक औसत माल लादान से होने वाली आय में करीब 61 फीसद की वृद्धि हुई है।
मुख्य जनसंपर्क अधिकारी आलोक कुमार सिंह के अनुसार माल विपणन के क्षेत्र में किए जा रहे समेकित प्रयास के परिणाम सामने आने लगे हैं। वित्तीय वर्ष 2013- 14 की प्रथम तिमाही में जून 2013 तक इस रेलवे पर माल लादान की लीड एवं आय में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि हुई है। इस अवधि में माल लादान में वृद्धि के पैमाने आरंभिक औसत लीड में आशातीत बढ़ोत्तरी हुई है। सीपीआरओ के अनुसार वित्त वर्ष 2012-13 की प्रथम तिमाही में आरंभिक औसत लीड 688 किमी था, जो वर्तमान वित्त वर्ष की इसी अवधि में बढ़कर 1107 किमी हो गया है। पिछले वित्त वर्ष की प्रथम तिमाही में जहां प्रति वैगन 688 किमी के लिए माल लादान हुआ था वहीं वर्तमान प्रथम तिमाही में 1107 किमी तक प्रति वैगन माला लादान हुआ है।

The much-awaited day train to Chennai from Tuticorin will be introduced on July 31. As announced in the Railway Budget 2013-14, the sectional coaches running between Chennai Egmore and Madurai in trains (16127 /16128) and Chennai Egmore-Guruvayur Express will be extended to Tuticorin as Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (numbers 16130 /16129).The inaugural service of Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (train number 16130) will be flagged off at Tuticorin railway station at 7.35 a.m. on Wednesday, N.Venugopal, Senior Public Relations Officer, Madurai Division, said in a statement on Monday.

Timings

The inaugural and regular service of Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (16130) and regular service of Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (16129) will commence as per schedule.

Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (16129) Daily would leave Chennai Egmore at 7.40 a.m. and arrive at Vanchi Maniyachi at 18.35 hours and leave Vanchi Maniachchi at 19.15 hours to reach Tuticorin at 20.35 hours.

The Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (16130) Daily would leave Tuticorin at 7.35 a.m. and arrive at Vanchi Maniachchi at 8.30 a.m. and leave Vanchi Maniachchi at 8.35 a.m. to reach Chennai Egmore at 21.15 hours.

The link express would have six second-lass sitting coaches (reserved), one general second-class coach and one luggage-cum-brake van coach. This link express coaches would be attached and detached at Vanchi Maniachchi station.

पीलीभीत : सोमवार की सुबह एक ट्रैक्टर ट्रॉली मानव रहित रेलवे क्रॉसिंग पर पैसेंजर ट्रेन की जद में आ गई, जिससे ट्रैक्टर हवा में उछलकर गिरा तो चालक की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई, जबकि ट्रैक्टर स्वामी का पुत्र गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गया। ट्रैक्टर पर सवार एक अन्य युवक ने छलांग लगा कर जान बचाई। हादसे में ट्रेन इंजन क्षतिग्रस्त हो गया, जिससे ट्रेन डेढ़ घंटे से अधिक समय तक रुकी रही।
हादसा सोमवार की सुबह करीब 11.30 बजे के आसपास हुआ। कोतवाली क्षेत्र के ग्राम रुरिया निवासी नन्हें लाल कश्यप (25) गांव के ही देवेंद्र पाल का ट्रैक्टर लेकर रेत भरने जा रहा था। साथ में ट्रैक्टर मालिक का पुत्र आशीष गंगवार उर्फ जग्गू व गांव का ही जाहिद भी बैठा था। ट्रैक्टर जब ग्राम रुरिया व टिकरी के मध्य स्थित मानव रहित रेलवे क्रॉसिंग 23 को पार कर रहा था, तभी पीलीभीत से चलकर शाहजहांपुर को जाने वाली पैसेंजर ट्रेन उसके नजदीक आ गई, तो वह घबरा कर ट्रैक्टर को बैक करने लगा। इसके पहले ही ट्रेन की टक्कर से ट्रैक्टर उछल कर सौ मीटर दूर जाकर गिरा, जिससे चालक नन्हें लाल की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई। जबकि ट्रैक्टर स्वामी का पुत्र आशीष गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गया। जाहिद ने ट्रॉली से कूदकर जान बचाई। घायल आशीष को तत्काल जिला संयुक्त चिकित्सालय में भर्ती कराया गया, जहां से उसे बरेली रेफर कर दिया गया। सूचना पर रेलवे के कई अधिकारी शाहजहांपुर से पहुंचे और घटना का जायजा लिया। बाद में जिला मुख्यालय से आया दूसरा इंजन ट्रेन को लेकर रवाना हो सका।

Mangalore Central Railway Station may get an additional high-level platform and a third foot overbridge if the proposals of the Southern Railways to add these facilities at a cost of Rs. 16 crore in 2014-15 are approved by the Railway Board.

The facilities proposed also include laying of two new lines and a pit line which would enable it to handle more trains.

The information was disclosed by Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Palakkad Division Mohan A. Menon at a tri-monthly meeting chaired by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to review the progress of railway projects in Dakshina Kannada.

Mr. Menon said the highest amount of Rs. 3.75 crore was being sought for the construction of a new foot overbridge and extension of the second foot overbridge, followed by Rs. 2.70 crore for a 540m pit line (a track with a pit under it all along to clean coaches); Rs. 2.55 crore for a new 540m platform; Rs. 1.71 crore for platform shelter and vacuum de-watering; Rs. 1.35 crore for a concrete apron for tracks to keep them clean; Rs. 1.29 crore for office accommodation and store; Rs. 73 lakh for two new lines; Rs. 50 lakhs for signalling arrangements; Rs. 50 lakh for improvement to circulating areas and Rs. 27 lakh for a compound wall, among others.

He noted that proposals worth Rs. 17 crore sent to the Railway Board were not cleared for the year 2013-14 and fresh proposals are being sent with modifications for the year 2014-15.

Mr. Menon expressed the inability of Railways to extend the Mumbai CST-Mangalore Junction Express train up to Mangalore Central station owing to the crowding of trains during afternoons.

The station would be able to handle more trains when the proposed facilities are added, he said. Extension of the proposed push-pull Bhatkal-Mangalore Junction train was also made at the meeting.

Mr. Menon said Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation (KITCO) has been appointed as consultants for the development of world class stations in Kerala and Mangalore. KITCO had come out with perception maps and it would hold meetings with stake holders.

The railway manager offered to inspect the Mangalore Station with regard to complaints of failure to maintain cleanliness. He also promised to look into the failure of authorities to provide sign boards and application forms in Kannada under the Tribhasha scheme of the railways to include local language.

He said the problems regarding wrong location of the pre-paid autorickshaw kiosk at Mangalore Junction railway station could have been avoided had the Railways been taken into confidence in advance. With the railways insisting on shifting the kiosk to prevent movement of the public being hit, the introduction of pre-paid autorickshaw service has been delayed.
