A Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) detained a six-month pregnant woman and her husband at the Railway Protection Force station in Kollam on Monday for almost four hours for boarding a sleeper coach of the Kanyakumari-bound Jayanthi Janata Express at Karunagapally, the couple have alleged.

The couple, Rajeev and Liji, boarded the S3 sleeper coach as the general compartment was crowded, they said at a press conference here on Monday. As the train left the station the TTE, identified as Mathew Jacob, allegedly asked the couple to vacate it. The woman requested the TTE to consider her condition, and they be allowed to travel in the sleeper compartment standing.

The TTE examined the couple’s identity cards, and upon finding that they were from Paravur — where there was a showdown between TTEs and season-ticket holders travelling in sleeper coaches of the same train last Monday — said that they too were involved in that fracas and would be arrested. (On Monday, commuters had blocked the train for almost two hours at the station. The RPF had registered cases against more than 100 persons, some of whom were arrested at Thiruvananthapuram station and let off on self-bond.)

When they told the TTE that they would inform the media, they were charged with the offences of travelling in a reserved coach without a valid ticket, preventing the TTE from doing his duty, and threatening him.

The couple were later let off on self-bond. But they will have to appear before the Railway Court at Kollam when they receive the summons for the case. Rajeev is an employee at the Secretariat and Liji, an employee with the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department.

RPF version

The RPF authorities said they did not know what exactly had happened. The TTE had handed over the couple to an RPF personnel on the train, directing that they be taken to the Kollam RPF station and charged. It was on the basis of the complaint that the case was registered.

Mr. Jacob could not be contacted.


Allegedly asked to leave sleeper coach and shift to crowded general coach.

The much-awaited day train to Chennai from Tuticorin will be introduced on July 31. As announced in the Railway Budget 2013-14, the sectional coaches running between Chennai Egmore and Madurai in trains (16127 /16128) and Chennai Egmore-Guruvayur Express will be extended to Tuticorin as Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (numbers 16130 /16129).The inaugural service of Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (train number 16130) will be flagged off at Tuticorin railway station at 7.35 a.m. on Wednesday, N.Venugopal, Senior Public Relations Officer, Madurai Division, said in a statement on Monday.

Timings

The inaugural and regular service of Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (16130) and regular service of Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (16129) will commence as per schedule.

Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (16129) Daily would leave Chennai Egmore at 7.40 a.m. and arrive at Vanchi Maniyachi at 18.35 hours and leave Vanchi Maniachchi at 19.15 hours to reach Tuticorin at 20.35 hours.

The Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (16130) Daily would leave Tuticorin at 7.35 a.m. and arrive at Vanchi Maniachchi at 8.30 a.m. and leave Vanchi Maniachchi at 8.35 a.m. to reach Chennai Egmore at 21.15 hours.

The link express would have six second-lass sitting coaches (reserved), one general second-class coach and one luggage-cum-brake van coach. This link express coaches would be attached and detached at Vanchi Maniachchi station.

Stoppages

The eight-bogie train would stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Pennadam, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Tiruchi, Manaparai, Dindigul, Kudalnagar, Madurai, Virudunagar, Satur, Kovilpatti, Vanchi Maniachchi and Milavittan. The Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (16129) would stop at Tuticorin-Melur and Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (16130) would stop at Mambalam as well.

PATNA: At least 23 pairs of mail and express trains have been brought under the 'On-board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) scheme' under the East Central Railway (ECR) so far. Under the scheme implemented in all the five divisions of ECR, the railways has outsourced on-board housekeeping to private companies for proper maintenance of cleanliness inside coaches of long-distance trains.

According to ECR CPRO Amitabh Prabhakar, while 11 trains have been brought under the OBHS scheme in Danapur division, six trains in Samastipur division and two each in Dhanbad, Sonepur and Mughalsarai divisions have also been brought under it. Mughalsarai, Barauni, Muzaffarpur and Dhanbad have been made main centres of OBHS scheme, he said.

Danapur division has introduced OBHS scheme in some of the trains originating from Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patna Junction and Danapur stations. The railways has formed a team of railway officials to make surprise inspection of cleanliness on the running trains. ECR GM Madhuresh Kumar is personally monitoring this scheme, the CPRO said and added there was a proposal to bring more trains under this scheme.

According to sources, this scheme has so far been available in 300 and odd trains across the country. Under the scheme, a team of cleanliness workers hired by the railways would travel on the trains from originating to terminating stations. Their job is to keep the passenger coaches, toilets, doorways and aisles neat and clean during the journey, the sources said and added the railways was spending a huge amount on the OBHS scheme with a view to providing homely comforts to passengers.

With the minister for railways putting more stress on maintaining cleanliness on the running trains, each zonal railway, including ECR, has already been brought under the OBHS scheme. The greatest advantage of this scheme is that passengers could call the cleaning staff to clean the coaches and toilets if they find them dirty and unhygienic, the sources said.

पानीपत. ट्रेन से रोहतक जाने वाले यात्रियों को आठ किलोमीटर का अतिरिक्त सफर तय करना होगा। रोहतक को जाम से मुक्ति दिलाने के लिए रेल मंत्री मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे ने रविवार को पानीपत-गोहाना रेलवे लाइन के नए बाइपास का शिलान्यास किया।
180 करोड़ की रेलवे लाइन रोहतक के बाहर से होकर गुजरेगी और मकड़ौली के पास आकर फिर से पानीपत लाइन में आकर मिल जाएगी। लाइन बनाने का काम चार माह में शुरू हो जाएगा और दो साल के अंदर लक्ष्य को पूरा कर लिया जाएगा। अभी पानीपत से रोहतक 71 किलोमीटर दूर है। नई लाइन से यह दूरी 79 किलोमीटर हो जाएगी।

NEW DELHI: In a setback to Udhampur-Katra rail link project, the work on the 25-km-long stretch has been slowed down after the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir over the BSF firing incident at Ramban.

The Katra line was expected to be operational by the end of August as work was going on full throttle. But now it is further delayed and likely to be commissioned in October this year.

"The workforce involved in laying the tracks between Udhampur and Katra, part of the Kashmir rail link project, had fled after the turmoil in the state due to the firing incident and it has affected the progress of the ongoing work," a senior Northern Railway official involved in the project said.

He said majority of the skilled workforce were from outside of the state including Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar.

Though the work has been resumed in the section, the pace is slow as all the workers have not yet returned, the official said.

The ballast-less track is being laid on the Udhampur-Katra section which involves about 11 km of tunnelling, nine major bridges, 29 minor bridges and 10 rail overbids/rail under-bridges.

Trial run will be conducted on the route after the completion of laying the track and the Commissioner Railway Safety will inspect the line before giving the clearance.

We are trying to make the line operational before the commencement of Navaratri, official said.

All the tunnelling as well as bridge works have been completed.

INTRODUCTION OF CHENNAI EGMORE – TUTICORIN (LINK) EXPRESS


    Southern Railway will introduce a new train service between Chennai Egmore – Tuticorin o­n 31st July, 2013.

    Train No.16129 Chennai Egmore – Tuticorin (Link) express will leave Chennai Egmore at 07.40 hrs. and arrive Tuticorin at 20.35 hrs. the same day.  Train No.16130 Tuticorin – Chennai Egmore (Link) express will leave Tuticorin at 07.35 hrs. and arrive Chennai Egmore at 21.15 hrs. the same day.

    These link express trains will run with Train No.16127/16128 Chennai Egmore – Guruvayur – Chennai Egmore express trains between Chennai Egmore – Vanchi Maniyachchi – Chennai Egmore.  Between Vanchi Maniyachchi Jn. – Tuticorin, the Chennai Egmore – Tuticorin (Link) express will stop at Milavittan and Tuti-Melur; the Tuticorin – Chennai Egmore (Link) express will stop at Milavittan and will not stop at Tuti-melur.   

    The composition of these trains will be 6 reserved second class, 1 General second class and 1 luggage-cum- brake van coaches.

श्रीगंगानगर-हनुमानगढ़ ट्रैक शुरू करने की मांग को लेकर सांसद भरतराम मेघवाल ने शनिवार को दिल्ली में केंद्रीय रेलमंत्री मल्लिकार्जुन खडगे से उनके निवास पर मुलाकात की। रेलमंत्री से दोनों जिलों की रेल समस्याओं के निराकरण का आग्रह किया।
जेडआरयूसीसी सदस्य भीम शर्मा ने बताया कि सांसद मेघवाल को केंद्रीय रेलमंत्री ने अगस्त तक हनुमानगढ़ ट्रैक पर ट्रेन शुरू कराने आश्वासन दिया। बाद में सांसद ने उन्हें ट्रेन शुरू करने के लिए श्रीगंगानगर आकर हरी झंडी दिखाने का आमंत्रण दिया। सांसद ने रेलमंत्री से श्रीगंगानगर-सराय रोहिल्ला एक्सप्रेस को नियमित करने के लिए रैक उपलब्ध कराने, श्रीगंगानगर से जोधपुर के लिए इंटरसिटी, बठिंडा-जम्मू के बीच चलने वाली ट्रेन को श्रीगंगानगर से चलाने तथा श्रीगंगानगर से मुंबई, बेंगलुरू, चेन्नई आदि शहरों के लिए लंबी दूरी की ट्रेनों की रेल बजट में घोषणा करने का आग्रह किया। जेडआरयूसीसी सदस्य शर्मा ने बताया कि हनुमानगढ़ ट्रैक शुरू करने के लिए सीआरएस दौरे की तिथि तथा डीआरएम के सूरतगढ़ दौरे में सितंबर तक ट्रेन शुरू करने की बातकहने के बाद सांसद ने रेलवे की ढिलाई को देखते हुए रेलमंत्री से मुलाकात की है।

SCR to Run 18 Special Trains between Aurangabad-Tirupati and Kacheguda-Mangalore

In order to clear extra rush of passengers, South Central Railway will run 18 Special Trains between Aurangabad-Tirupati  and  Kacheguda-Mangalore as per the following schedule:-


1)Aurangabad-Tirupati-Aurangabad  Special Trains( 10 services):

Train No. 07405 Aurangabad-Tirupati Special Train will depart Aurangabad at 18 40 hrs o­n 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th August, 2013 (Fridays) and arrive Tirupati at 19 00 hrs o­n the next day.

In the return direction, Train No.07406 Tirupati-Aurangabad Special train will depart Tirupati at 21 15 hrs o­n 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st August, 2013 (Saturdays) and arrive Aurangabad at 20 30 hrs o­n the next day.

Enroute, these special trains will stop at Jalna, Parbhani, Purna, Nanded, Mudhked, Basar, Nizambad, Kamareddi, Secunderabad, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, Tenali, Chirala, o­ngole, Nellore, Gudur, Venkatagiri, Srikalahasti and Renigunta

Stations in both directions.  These trains will consist of 15 Coaches viz., o­ne AC Three Tier, six Sleeper Class, six General Second Class and two Luggage Cum Brake Van Coaches.                   

2)Kacheguda-Mangalore-Kacheguda Special Trains (8 Services)

    Train No.07606 Kacheguda-Mangalore Special Train will depart Kacheguda at  06 00 hrs o­n Tuesdays ie., on 6th, 13th, 20thand 27th August, 2013  and arrive  Mangalore at 11 20 hrs o­n the next day.

      In the return direction, Train No. 07605 Mangalore-Kachiguda Special Train will depart Mangalore at 20 00 hrs on Wednesday ie., o­n 7th, 14th, 21st and 28thAugust, 2013 and arrive Kacheguda at 03 40 hrs o­n Fridays.

Enroute, these special trains will stop at Jadcherla, Mahbubnagar, Gadwal, Kurnool City, Dhone, Gooty, Yerraguntla, Cuddapah, Rajampeta, Renigunta, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Thalasery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod Stations in both directions. These special trains will consist of 18 Coaches viz., o­ne AC II Tier, two AC III Tier, seven Sleeper Class, six General Second Class and two Luggage Cum Brake Van Coaches.

पलपल इंडिया ब्यूरो, मुंबई. पनवेल-44 लोकल में तकनीकी खराबी आ जाने के कारण सोमवार को एक बार फिर हार्बर लाइन की लोकल सेवाएं बाधित हो गईं. प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार दिन में 10.50 बजे के करीब रे रोड और काटन ग्रीन के बीच यूनिट डिफेक्ट हो जाने के कारण गाड़ी खड़ी हो गई, जिससे संबंधित खंड में लोकल सेवाएं ठप हो गईं.

जनसंपर्क अधिकारी ए.के. सिंह के अनुसार आंधे घंटे के अंदर रेक को हटाकर रूट क्लीयर कर लिया गया. उसके बाद यातायात व्यवस्था पूर्ववत हो गई. इस समस्या के कारण 3 लोकल  गाडिय़ां रद्द करनी पड़ीं. इस दौरान यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए वडाला से एक बांद्रा के लिए तथा एक पनवेल स्पेशल लोकल चलाई गई.

HUBLI: South Western Railway has provided temporary stoppages at various stations for different trains in Bangalore division which have been extended up to December 31.

Train number 12027 Chennai-Bangalore City Shatabdi Express and 12028 Bangalore City-Chennai Shatabdi Express will continue providing temporary stoppage at Bangalore Cantonment. 16232 Mysore-Mayiladuturai Daily Express, 16231Mayiladuturai-Mysore Daily Express, 6517/16523 Yeshwantpur-Kannur/Karwar Express and 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar-Yeshwantpur Express provide stoppage at Kengeri.

16527 Yeshwantpur-Kannur Express and 16528 Kannur-Yeshwantpur Express provide stoppage at Banaswadi while 16732(16236) Mysore-Tuticorin Express, 16731(16235) Tuticorin-Mysore Express, 12677 Bangalore-Ernakulam Express, 12678 Ernakulam-Bangalore Express,16527 Yeshvantpur-Kannur Express and 16528 Kannur-Ernakulam Express provide stoppage at Karmelaram. 56213 Chamarajanagar-Tirupati Passenger and 56214 Tirupati-Chamarajanagar Passenger give stoppage at Tyakal.

Bangalore-Kakinada Express, 22602 Chennai-Sai Nagar Shirdi Express, 22601 Sai Nagar Shirdi-Chennai Express provide stoppage at Malur, 17307 Mysore-Bagalkot Basava Express and 17308 Bagalkot-Mysore Basava Express at Gouribidnur.

56913 Bangalore-Hubli Passenger, 56914 Hubli-Bangalore Passenger, 56909 Bangalore-Hospet Passenger and 56910 Hospet-Bangalore Passenger provide stoppage at Chikbanavar.
