Permanent Augmentation of Kakinada Town-Sainagar Shirdi-Kakinada Town Tri-Weekly Express with eight additional coaches

South Central Railway will augment Train No. 17206/17205 Kakinada Town – Sainagar Shirdi - Kakinada Town Tri-Weekly Express with eight additional coaches o­n permanent basis.

Accordingly, Train No. 17206/17205 Kakinada Town-Sainagar Shirdi- Kakinada Town Tri-Weekly Express is permanently augmented with one AC II Tier, o­ne AC III Tier, five Sleeper Class and o­ne General Second Class coaches, with effect from  3rd Aug 2013 Ex- Kakinada Town and from 4thAug 2013 Ex-Sainagar Shirdi.

        After augmentation Train No. 17206/17205 Kakinada Town – Sainagar Shirdi - Kakinada Town Tri-Weekly Express will have 21 coaches viz., two AC II Tier, two AC III Tier, eleven Sleeper Class, four General Second Class and two Luggage cum Brake Van Coaches. These additional coaches will made available 470 berths and 80 seats additionally per service.

Diphu (Assam)/Darjeeling: Two persons were killed in police firing in escalating violence in the agitation for a separate Karbi Anglong state in Assam on the lines of Telangana, which also spurred GJM on Thursday to call for an indefinite bandh in Darjeeling from Saturday for Gorkhaland.

Protesters turned violent and vandalised various public buildings and set satellite dishes of the All India Radio on fire in Assam's Karbi Anglong district amidst demand for a separate state.

Gautam Timung, was killed in police firing when agitators tried to remove a portion of railway lines after they were repaired following the removal of another portion at a place between Doldoli and Dhansiri on the Diphu-Dimapur line, official sources said.

Earlier, A 22-year-old college student, Rahul Signa, who was injured in police firing, when he was locking up his father's shop after violence broke out on Wednesday, died of his injuries late last night, the sources said.

The police also fired in the air near the All India Radio building after agitators set ablaze satellite dishes halting broadcast and relay and torched a waiting room constructed of wood, the sources said. Buildings of the Public Works Department, Forest and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan offices, constructed of wood, were also set ablaze by agitators, the sources said. The office of the Assam Sahitya Sabha, Assam's apex literary body, was also damaged by them, they said.

The army, called in on Wednesday, was on stand by to assist the district administration with police and paramilitary forces on patrol, the sources said. The agitators belonged to the Karbi Students Association, Karbi Riso Adorba and NSUI and several other organisations.

The violence started on Wednesday as protesters demand for a separate state carved out of two Assam districts on the lines of Telangana.

The agitators targeted public buildings, residences of politicians, the Congress office, Autonomous District Council building, Chief Executive Member's residence while a bus counter and vehicles were torched.

To control the violence, the police yesterday opened fire at many places injuring 20 people. Meanwhile, the Hills State Democratic Party has called a 100-hour bandh in the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao from August 5 to reinforce the demand for a separate Karbi Anglong state. 

Indefinite bandh in Darjeeling from Saturday

Reversing its decision within hours after the arrival of central forces in the hills, the GJM said it took a 'hard decision' for an indefinite bandh in Darjeeling from Saturday to demand a Gorkhaland state on the lines of Telangana.

Accusing the West Bengal government of trying to 'crush a democratic movement', GJM leader Harka Bahadur Chhetri said, "We had to take a hard stand." "There will be indefinite bandh in the hills from August 3. There will be no relaxation," he added.

Earlier in the day, GJM general secretary and spokesman Roshan Giri had said that in view of Eid, the GJM would give some relaxation and the shut down would be for 96-hours.

West Bengal miniser Gautam Deb said that steps would be taken to deal with any violence, while stating that the Centre would be equally accountable.

लोकमान्य टिळक टर्मिनस (एलटीटी) गाठण्यासाठी प्रवाशांची होणारी दैना दूर करण्यासाठी मध्य रेल्वेने योजना आखली आहे. आडमार्गावरील एलटीटीकडे जाण्यासाठी मुजोर रिक्षा- टॅक्सीचालकांमुळे प्रवाशांना अनेक समस्या येत असल्याने एलटीटी ते कुर्ला व कुर्ला ते टिळकनगर स्टेशन असा 'ट्रॅव्हलेटर' (सामानासह उभे राहण्याचा सरकता पट्टा) उभारण्याची योजना आहे. 'एस्कलेटर'प्रमाणे 'ट्रॅव्हलेटर' सुरू झाल्यास लाखो प्रवाशांना अवघ्या सात ते आठ मिनिटात एलटीटी गाठणे शक्य होणार आहे.

आंतरराष्ट्रीय विमानतळावर असणाऱ्या ट्रॅव्हेलेटरप्रमाणे मध्य रेल्वेवर प्रथमच ट्रॅव्हलेटर लागणार आहे. प्रवाशांना कुर्ला स्टेशनहून एलटीटीकडे जाणे प्रचंड त्रासाचे असून रिक्षा व टॅक्सीचालकांकडून होणारी लूट व अन्य पर्यायी सुविधांच्या अभावामुळेच हा तोडगा उपयुक्त ठरणार आहे. एलटीटी-कुर्ला-टिळकनगर दरम्यान हा ७०० मीटर लांबीचा ट्रॅव्हलेटर असणार आहे. त्यामुळे प्रवाशांना अवघ्या सात ते आठ मिनिटांत एलटीटी अथवा कुर्ला गाठता येईल, अशी माहिती​ मध्य रेल्वेचे विभागीय व्यवस्थापक मुकेश निगम यांनी दिली.

दोन वर्षे थांबा

या ट्रॅव्हेलेटरसाठी नऊ कोटी रुपये अंदाजित खर्च आहे. आतापर्यंत भारतीय रेल्वेत केवळ भोपाळ येथे अबिदगंज येथे ट्रॅव्हलेटर आहे. त्यानंतर दुसरा ट्रॅव्हलेटर मुंबईत सुरू होत आहे. सांताक्रूझ ते चेंबूर या लिंक रोडचे काम पूर्ण झाल्यावरच हे काम होऊ शकणार असल्याने अजून दीड ते दोन वर्षे लागतील. ट्रॅव्हलेटर झाल्यास एलटीटी हे जागतिक रेल्वे स्टेशन होऊ शकेल. सध्या येथून ५० ते ५५ गाड्या सुटतात व रोज सुमारे सव्वा लाख प्रवासी येथून प्रवास करतात. एलटीटीची नऊ एकर जागा रेल्वेच्या मालकीची आहे. परळ टर्मिनस झाल्यास त्यानंतर एलटीटीचे महत्त्व अधिक वाढणार आहे.

रेल्वे जमिनींवर उभ्या राहिलेल्या झोपड्यांच्या जागेवर इमारती बांधण्याचा प्रस्ताव धारावी पुनर्विकास प्रकल्पाच्या मुख्याधिकाऱ्यांनी रेल्वे बोर्डासमोर ठेवला असून, या जागेसाठी रेडीरेकनर दरापेक्षा जास्त दराने पैसे मोजण्याची तयारीही दाखवली आहे. रेल्वेने या प्रस्तावाला सकारात्मक प्रतिसाद दिलेला आहे. रेल्वेच्या या जमिनींचा लाभदायक व्यवहार पटवण्यात धारावी पुनर्विकास प्रकल्पाच्या अधिऱ्यांना यश आले तर हा निर्णय मैलाचा दगड ठरेल आणि मुंबईतील रेल्वेच्या जागेवर वसलेल्या हजारो झोपड्यांच्या पुनर्विकासाचा मार्ग मोकळा होऊ शकेल.

वांद्रे, परळ आणि अंधेरीत रेल्वेची सुमारे ५०० एकर जमीन आहे. या भूखंडांची किंमत बाजाराभावानुसार किमान २० हजार कोटी आहे. मात्र ही जमीन अतिक्रमित आहे. मध्य रेल्वेची ४ लाख ७ हजार चौ. मी. जमीन अतिक्रमित किंवा कोर्टकज्जात अडकली आहे. त्यामुळे एसआरए, धारावी पुनर्विकास अशा विविध सरकारी योजनांअतर्गत रेल्वेने जमिनीचा पुनर्विकास केल्यास झोपड्यांचा बकालपणा संपून रेल्वेला प्रचंड निधी मिळण्याची शक्यता आहे. परंतु रेल्वेने आजवर अशा पुनर्विकासाला मंजुरी दिलेली नाही.

धारावी पुनर्विकासापासून सुरुवात?

धारावीलगत माहीम, माटुंगा रेल्वे स्टेशनजवळ रेल्वेची सहा हेक्टर अतिक्रमित जमीन असून यावर १६०० झोपड्या वसल्या आहेत. ही जमीन रेल्वेच्या मालकीची असल्यामुळे धारावी पुनर्विकास प्रकाल्पातून वगळण्यात आली होती. परंतु एकीकडे कित्येक एकरावर पसलेल्या धारावीसारख्या विशाल झोपडपट्टीचा विकास करायचा आणि शेजारीच झोपड्यांचा बकालपणा तसाच ठेवायचा, हे चित्र चांगले नसल्याचे धारावी पुनर्विकास प्रकल्पाच्या अधिकाऱ्यांनी या जमिनीसाठी रेल्वेच्या अधिकाऱ्यांना गळ घातली. प्रकल्पाचे मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी समीर बिस्वास यांनी अलीकडेच दिल्ली येथे रेल्वे बोर्डाचे कार्यकारी संचालक ओ. पी. सिंग यांची भेट घेतली आणि सहा हेक्टरांची ही जमीन घरे बांधण्यासाठी मिळावी, अशी विनंती केली. या जमिनीसाठी रेडीरेकनर दरापेक्षा जास्त रक्कम देण्याची तयारीही बिस्वास यांनी दाखवली.

सल्लागाराची नियुक्ती
आम्ही आजवर अशाप्रकारे जमीन दिलेली नाही. परंतु जमीन दिल्यास आम्हाला किती रक्कम मिळू शकेल, याचा तपशील असलेला रितसर आर्थिक प्रस्ताव पाठवा, असा सकारात्मक प्रतिसाद सिंग यांनी दिल्याचे समजते. हा प्रस्ताव तयार करण्यासाठी सल्लागाराची नियुक्ती करण्यात येणार असून येत्या दोन महिन्यात हा प्रस्ताव दिल्लीला पाठवला जाईल, अशी माहिती धारावी प्रकल्पाच्या अधिकाऱ्यांनी दिली.

Guwahati: The railway connection to the upper Assam was disrupted as violent protestors destroyed some portion of railway track at a place between Diphu and Doldoli, leading to police firing in the area even as curfew on imposed for the second consecutive day at Karbi Anglong headquarter in Assam.The protesters who have been demanding a separate state for the hill districts also destroyed and burnt several government offices and public properties. The prominent offices which were damaged included the All India Radio (AIR) and a branch office of the Asam Sahitya Sabha (ASS), the apex literary body of Assam and several others on Thursday.DIG (Central Range) P. Saloi said that adequate security arrangement has been made to avoid more such type of mob violence. “The curfew is still on and we are trying our best to control the situation. More security forces are on the way to assist the police in tackling the situation,” said Saloi.

One person, who received injuries during the violence on Wednesday succumbed to his injuries late night, police said. On Wednesday, the protesters had also attacked the houses of Lok Sabh MP from Diphu Lok Sabha constituency Biren Sing Ingty, the MLA Bidya Sing Engleng and Chief Executive Member of the council Joyram Engleng.

गणेशोत्सवासाठी कोकणात जाणाऱ्या भाविकांसाठी मध्य रेल्वेने खूषखबर दिली आहे. कोकणात जाणाऱ्या नेहमीच्या एक्स्प्रेस गणपतीच्या दिवसांत दोन मिनिटांच फुल्ल झाल्याने चाकरमान्यांचे लक्ष विशेष गाड्यांकडे लागले होते.

प्रवाशांची मागणी पाहून मध्य रेल्वेने कोकणासाठी यंदा तब्बल १२० विशेष गाड्या सोडण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे. ४ सप्टेंबरपासून या विशेष गाड्या सोडण्यात येणार असून यात विशेष एसी एक्स्प्रेसचाही समावेश आहे. या गाड्यांचे आरक्षण ३१ जुलैपासून उपलब्ध होणार आहे. १२० गाड्यांमध्ये ६६ आरक्षित आणि ५४ अनारक्षित गाड्यांचा समावेश आहे.

गेल्या वर्षी गणपतीत कोकणासाठी मध्य रेल्वेने ८८ गाड्यांची सुविधा दिली होती. यंदा या गाड्यांची संख्या १२०पर्यंत नेत अतिरिक्त ३६ टक्के प्रवासी क्षमता वाढवली आहे. त्यापैकी , ६२ गाड्या लोकमान्य टिळक टर्मिनस , ४२ सीएसटी आणि १६ गाड्या दादरवरून सोडण्यात येणार आहेत.

एसी एक्स्प्रेसची सुविधा

मध्य रेल्वेने प्रथमच गणेशोत्सवासाठी एलटीटी-मडगाव एसी एक्स्प्रेस सेवेत आणली आहे. संपूर्णतः एसी असणारी एक्स्प्रेस एकूण तीन वेळा धावणार आहे.

अनारक्षित गाड्यांचा पर्याय

तिकिटे आरक्षित न झालेल्यांसाठी दोन अनारक्षित गाड्या सोडण्यात येणार असल्याचे मध्य रेल्वेचे मुख्य जनसंपर्क अधिकारी अतुल राणे यांनी सांगितले. त्यामध्ये दादर-सावंतवाडी , दादर-रत्नागिरी गाड्यांचा समावेश आहे.

COIMBATORE: Motorists fleeced regularly by the parking contractor at Coimbatore railway junction were in for a surprise on Thursday morning when they were told to pay just the prescribed charge.Railway authorities took charge of the parking lot on Thursday after a court in Coimbatore vacated an interim injunction restraining the southern railway from floating tenders for parking at the station. "The private contractor who was operating the parking lot used to collect between Rs10 and Rs 15 for two-wheelers while the prescribed charge for a two-wheeler for two hours is just Rs 5," said a user at the railway junction.According to sources, the private contactor had obtained an interim injunction against the railways from floating tenders in December last year and had continued to operate the parking lot. "The stay was vacated recently and now the railways have floated tenders for the parking lot at the railway junction," a senior railway official requesting anonymity told TOI. According to him, the private contractor's term expired by July 31 midnight. The railway authorities moved in and took charge of the parking lot as the day changed."We took charge of this parking lot as an interim arrangement," the official explained. Apart from this, railway authorities have also regularized the parking of cabs to provide more facilities to the users. "With the cabs being shifted to the left side of the main entrance, now around 60 cars can be accommodated in the parking lot," the official said, and added that they will be in-charge of the parking lot until a new contractor steps in.

"With the entry of the railway authorities, four-wheelers now have to pay only Rs 8 for an hour as against the exorbitant fare of Rs 20 collected by the contractor," said Jameel Ahamed, president of Coimbatore Rail Users Association.

बुधवारी झालेल्या जोरदार पावसामुळे मुख्य रेल्वे स्थानकावर रुळांवर जवळपास दोन ते तीन फूट पाणी होते. त्यामुळे काल तीन तास रेल्वे वाहतूक ठप्प झाली होती. करंट तिकीट कक्ष, लोहमार्ग पोलिस ठाणे, आरपीएफ ठाणे, हॉटेल कसमसन, रेल्वेचे उपाहारगृह जनाहार या सर्वच ठिकाणी पाणी घुसले होते. उपस्टेशन व्यवस्थापकांच्या कार्यालयात गुडघाभर पाणी होते. मात्र, या कार्यालयातूनच येणाऱ्या व जाणाऱ्या गाड्यांची नोंद होत असल्याने येथील कर्मचारी पाण्यातच खुर्च्या टाकून बसले होते. रात्री १० च्या सुमारास रुळावरील पाणी ओसरल्यानंतर रेल्वे वाहतूक सुरळीत झाली.

NAGPUR: Commuters in the city faced severe hardships on Thursday as autorickshaws went off roads with major unions joining the strike called by Three Seater AutorickshawChalak Joint Action Samiti. Among the worst-hit were people arriving at railway stations, bus stops and school students.People carrying luggage were stranded at railway stations and bus stands since early morning. Also, students and senior citizens had a difficult time as they were forced to walk to their destinations. Parents of school going children had to drop off and pick up their wards at the school leading to huge traffic jams at all major schools.Ramesh Bahekar, a businessman, who arrived at Nagpur railway station this morning, said, "I was shocked to learn no autorickshaws would be available due to strike. The government needs to intervene in such cases and see that public transport services remain functional. The strike has forced me to change my plans for the day."

Engineering student Prapti Yamalwar, a resident of Wardhaman Nagar, said, "I had to sacrifice an hour of my study time to catch the bus and reach my college in Hingna. Spending two hours travelling in bus on the day of submission and examination was not something I had anticipated."

Senior citizen Vaibhav Gajbhiye, who lives in Chhaoni, said, "Thursday's strike forced me to reschedule my visit to the hospital. Like me, there could be hundreds who suffered. Senior citizens like me are not able to travel in public buses."

There were also many autorickshaw drivers who chose not to participate in the strike. Instead, they could be seen making a killing by asking for exorbitant from passengers. When this correspondent tried to hire an autorickshaw from Railway Station to Wardhaman Nagar, a driver asked for Rs 300 and refused to travel by meter.
