नई दिल्ली-अहमदाबाद राजधानी एक्सप्रेस के ऑनलाइन टाइमटेबल में रेलवे ने अपनी चूक को सुधार लिया है। दैनिक भास्कर में खबर प्रकाशित होने के 10 दिन बाद आईआरसीटीसी ने राजधानी के ऑनलाइन टाइमटेबल में गुड़गांव स्टेशन को शामिल कर लिया है। इसके साथ ही अब यात्री गुड़गांव से ऑनलाइन आरक्षण की सुविधा ले सकेंगे। 12958/57 नई दिल्ली-अहमदाबाद स्वर्ण जयंती राजधानी एक्सप्रेस का पिछले साल दिसंबर में गुड़गांव स्टेशन पर स्टॉपेज शुरू करने के बावजूद रेलवे ने अब तक ऑनलाइन टाइमटेबल में गुड़गांव को शामिल ही नहीं किया था।

दैनिक भास्कर ने एक अगस्त के अंक में छह महीने से चल रही रेलवे की इस चूक को उजागर करते हुए यात्रियों की परेशानी को बयां किया था। बताया जा रहा है कि राजधानी एक्सप्रेस में इतनी बड़ी भूल को लेकर रेलवे के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों तक सूचना जाने पर उन्होंने एक्शन लेते हुए 10 दिन बाद टाइमटेबल में संशोधन करा दिया है। इसे रेलवे की आधिकारिक वेबसाइट पर टाइमटेबल को देखा जा सकता है। इसमें राजधानी का गुड़गांव स्टेशन पर रात 08.44 बजे से दो मिनट का स्टॉपेज दिखाया जा रहा है। इस संशोधन के बाद राजधानी में सफर करने वाले यात्रियों को काफी फायदा मिलेगा। जिन्हें अब तक नई दिल्ली स्टेशन से ऑनलाइन बुकिंग करानी पड़ रही थी। अब गुड़गांव स्टेशन से भी यात्रियों के लिए ऑनलाइन बुकिंग के दरवाजे में खुल जाएंगे। इस बारे में आईआरसीटीसी के प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि रेल मंत्रालय की तरफ से डाटा मिलते ही इसे वेबसाइट पर अपडेट कर दिया गया है।

Kangra (Himachal Pradesh): Traffic on the Pathankot-Jogindernagar narrow rail gauge line in Himachal Pradesh will remain off the tracks for at least 10 days due to landslides along the track, a railway official said yesterday. “Traffic was suspended Friday as heavy rain in region had damaged the track at a number of points between Guler and Kangra towns,” assistant divisional engineer (Northern Railways) M.K. Goel told.

He said the damage to the tracks was greater near Kangra.

The 165-km-long rail track from Pathankot in Punjab to Jogindernagar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh was once proposed to be declared a UNESCO heritage site.

Railway officials say trains have been playing normally between Pathankot and Guler in Kangra district; beyond Guler, traffic has been halted for repair work.

In March last year the rail traffic on this section was restored after seven months of closure.

At that time, the 84-year-old railway bridge on the Chakki rivulet had been damaged in flashfloods.

The bridge, initially constructed in 1928 when the Sanan hydel project in Jogindernagar was set up, is the only bridge connecting Pathankot and the picturesque Kangra Valley.

The British had laid the Pathankot-Jogindernagar line in 1932, linking the prominent religious towns of Kangra and Mandi districts of the hill state.

Each year, a large number of tourists ride trains on the line to take in the scenic beauty of the Himalayas.

Congress MP Vijay Inder Singla today flagged off Dhuri-Bathinda junction passenger train from Dhuri railway station here. "This train is a gift for city residents and an effort to connect Dhuri with other major cities of neighbouring states, also it would boost movement of people, business."This train is also beneficial for the Dera Sacha Sauda followers going to Sirsa," Singla, who represent Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency said. Dhuri-Bhatinda junction passenger train would start from Dhuri daily at 4 am and reach Bathinda Junction at 06.25 am via Barnala, Tapa, Rampura Phul.On its return journey, the train would start at 7.35 pm and reach Dhuri at 10.15pm.Singla said he had consistently raised the demand for introduction of new trains services, extension and increase in frequency of existing services, demand of stoppages, new rail connectivity links, ROBs, modernisation and up-gradations of railway stations for the constituency.

If the Western Railway (WR) has its way, you will have to buy a card ticket before each journey on the much awaited air-conditioned (AC) suburban local train, slated to begin next year.

The rail authorities are against the idea of subsidised season tickets, the most preferred method of daily commute on the western line, as they say that it would not be economical for the railways.

“If a season pass is introduced for the AC local, the train would be as packed as the first class compartments of suburban locals,” said a senior railway official.

The railway authorities are confident that even without the availability of season passes, enough commuters would be willing to travel on the upcoming train as heavy traffic and overcrowding make travelling by road and local trains an inconvenient option.

WR authorities have prepared a proposal detailing the proposed fare structure for the AC local and sent it to the Railway Board, the apex body of the Indian Railways which will take the final decision on it.

While the senior official refused to disclose the proposed fare structure, he suggested that fares would be at par with those for AC buses and AC chair cars of the railways.

Chennai-based Integra Coach Factory has been tasked with manufacturing the first AC local.

While the train was scheduled to arrive in the city last April, it has been delayed till next year over some technological challenges.

“It is expected to take at least five more months,” said another senior official of WR.

As this is the first AC train of its type, delays are unavoidable, the official said.

A circular by the Thiruvananthapuram Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) restricting railway employees from taking leave during the LDF-organised indefinite siege to the Secretariat has kicked up a row.

The circular issued on Saturday stated that leave should be restricted in the division for the next three days - from Sunday to Tuesday - ‘in the wake of the agitation’. It also ordered to intensify checking to book ticketless travellers and told officials to take stringent action against the offenders.

According to members of the Southern Railways Mazdoor Union (SRMU), the move is unbecoming as the Railways is a Central Government department and hence state-related strikes should not affect its functioning. 

Also, restricting leave of Railways employees when a statewide agitation is being organised is against the norms, said SRMU general secretary S Gopikrishnan.

“The Railways issue such orders whenever national-level bandhs or any strike remotely connected to the Centre is observed. It makes no sense that the DRM should impose such restrictions in this case, wherein the LDF is laying siege to the Secretariat,” SRMU members said.

Officials within the department state that the order might have come in the wake of the state government’s letter to the Railways.

“Since it is the vacation season, quite a number of employees in the division would have already sought leave from their respective department heads. In the wake of this order, the sanctioned leaves will be withdrawn. If the authorities deny leave to any employee, especially in an emergency case, the SRMU will retaliate,” SRMU divisional president P Unnikrishnan said.

He said the SRMU (the only recognised union in the railways and of which most of the employees are a part of) does not have any political leanings. It is least possible that they would be participating in the strike, he said.

The circular has been issued to all railway stations and station master offices.

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, today(10thAugust, 2013) flagged off a new train between Marikuppam and Bangalore City at Marikuppam Railway Station, in the august Presence ofShri K H Muniyapa, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Sri Mallikarjuna Kharge said that the new train between Marikuppam-Bangalore has fulfilled the long time aspiration of the local people.He said, to meet the demands of the people of Kolar Gold Field, DEMUs (Diesel Electrical Multiple Units) and MEMUS (Main Line Electrical Multiple Units) running between Marikuppam and Bangalore City will be replaced o­n first priority by fullfledged trains with 21 coaches, o­n getting new rakes.

Shri Kharge said, after his taking over as Railway Minister, an additional amount of Rs.300 Crs., has been sanctioned for the Railway Projects in the State, which is 45% more than the amount sanctioned previously to South Western Railway for its projects in the current budget.

The State Government had promised to provide Rs.271 Cr in the current year for the Railway Projects in the State. During the past four months, ithas released o­nly Rs.30 crores, and balance amount is due. He insisted that the State has to expedite release of its share of money and speed up acquisition of land for faster completion of all pending Railway projects in the state.

Regarding Kolar-Chikballapur Railway Line doubling work, the Minister said there are certain small hurdles that State Government has to clear. If this is done, the project can be commissioned within a record time.

Shri Kharge said, there are 368 Railway Projects to be cleared in the country out of which 178 are new projects. Rs.1,78,000 Crs.are needed to complete all these projects.He said, instead of announcing new projects, the completion of existing projects will benefit the people and for this, the State Governments and the public should co-operate.He said many of the schemes brought out by the government are for the poor and benefiting all class of people across the country.

Regarding commissioning of new line between Kuppam and Marikuppam, Shri Kharge said, 6 Kms of land has to be given by Karnataka and 13 Kms by Andhra Pradesh.Work can be started if the respective governments give land to railways.

Shri K. H. Muniyappa, Union Minister of State for Micro, Medium and Small Industries said, Supreme Court has up-held the Cabinet Decision of re-starting the Bharat Gold Mines.The decision will benefit thousands of workers.Suitable conditionsto benefit the workers will be incorporated in the Global Tender to be invited for starting the Mine.The highest bidder will be asked to settle the benefits and dues payable for the workers before starting the mine, he said.
He announced to sanction Rs.40 lakhs for opening two new halt stations at Chinna Kote and Khidu Kuda out of which Rs. 20 lakhs will be from his MP fund and 20 lakhs will be from the MLA fund of Shri Naseer Ahmed.

Protests continued in the Rayalaseema districts of Kadapa, Chittoor and Anantapur and in the neighbouring Nellore district on Sunday, the day 12 of the agitation, taken up in support of Samaikyandhra.In the temple town of Tirupati, the day witnessed several protests by several organisations in various parts of the town.Following the rail roko call given by Samaikyandhra JAC on Sunday, the special party police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) in large number are deployed at the railway stations in Tirupati and Chittoor.Though hundreds of agitators came to the railway stations to obstruct trains, they beat a hasty retreat after the security personnel explained them about the cases and legal consequences involved, if they disrupt the movement of trains or squat on railway tracks.Tirupati YSRC MLA B Karunakar Reddy, who oragnised a dharna in the town, said that the temple town will not get its share of drinking water once the state is divided.“We are depending on Telugu Ganga for our drinking water needs. But, once the state gets bifurcated there will be no guarantee that we would get Telugu Ganga water as it has to pass several hurdles,’’ he said.Students of Sri Venkateswara University, leaders of Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi, MSOs and other organisations continued their relay hunger protest camps and it became order of the day for several organisations to visit the camps for extending their solidarity.

The Tirupati JAC convener Prof V Srikanth Reddy said that all organisations under the umbrella of the Tirupati JAC protesting for the cause of Samaikyandhra will take up their activities from Monday after offering tributes to the Telugu Talli at Indira Maidan.

“We will begin our activity after singing our state anthem ‘Maa Telugu Talliki Mallepu Danda’ song,’’ he said.

The SVU students organised a human chain with dressed half-naked and the members of Tirupati body builders association showcased their body building talent on the road at Nalugu Kalla Mandapam as part of the protests. Meanwhile, the private schools association decided to reopen schools from Monday.

Heavy police forces were positioned at all the entry points to prevent the agitators from entering railway stations.

The ‘rail roko’ call given by the integrationists to bring pressure on the UPA Government hit the passenger turnout at the railway stations on Sunday. However, no major incidents were reported in view of the agitation.Police made elaborate security arrangements in and around the railway stations to avoid any inconvenience to the passengers.Heavy police forces were positioned at all the entry points to prevent the agitators from entering railway stations.Many passengers cancelled journey, and the platforms wore a desert look. There was no passenger rush in the trains and the South Central Railway provided escort with two parties for all the running trains. Police parties were attached to all the Station Masters. In Guntur, the protestors raised slogans in front of Simhadri Express, while the agitators entered Tenali station and shouted slogans in front of Janmabhoomi Express. The protestors criticised the Congress party for bifurcating the State. Police thwarted the efforts of the agitators to enter the railway stations in Anakapalle, Narsaraopet and Visakhapatnam, said Superintendent of Railway Police Ch. Syam Prasad Rao.“Train services were not affected in Guntur and Tenali stations as some protestors raised slogans in front of the halted trains.

There were no reports of arson and the police have not registered any cases in Vijayawada division”, said Mr. Syam Prasad.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police and the central forces would continue in the stations as a precautionary measure, said the police.
