SCR to Run 8 Special Trains between Kacheguda and Mangalore

In order to clear extra rush of passengers, South Central Railway will run 8 Special Trains between Kacheguda and Mangalore as per the following schedule:-

Train No.07606 Kacheguda-Mangalore Special Train will depart Kacheguda at  06 00 hrs o­n Tuesdays ie., on 3rd, 10th, 17thand 24th September, 2013  and arrive  Mangalore at 11 20 hrs o­n the next day.

In the return direction, Train No. 07605 Mangalore-Kachiguda Special Train will depart Mangalore at 20 00 hrs on Wednesday ie., o­n 4th, 11th, 18th and 25thSeptember, 2013 and arrive Kacheguda at 03 40 hrs o­n Fridays.

Enroute, these special trains will stop at Jadcherla, Mahbubnagar, Gadwal, Kurnool City, Dhone, Gooty, Yerraguntla, Cuddapah, Rajampeta, Renigunta, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod Stations in both directions. These special trains will consist of 18 Coaches viz., o­ne AC II Tier, two AC III Tier, seven Sleeper Class, six General Second Class and two Luggage Cum Brake Van Coaches.

South Central Railway celebrated 67thIndependence Day today (15th August 2013) at the Railway Sports Complex Grounds, Secunderabad. Shri K.L.Pandey, Addl. General Manager, South Central Railway unfurled the National Flag and delivered Independence Day Message. Earlier he received the Guard of Honor presented by various contingents representing Railway Protection Force, Civil Defence Organization, National Cadet Corps, Scouts and Guides etc,. Smart was the Independence Day parade presented by these contingents. Senior Railway Officials & Staff participated in the celebrations with their family members.
            While delivering the Independence Day Message Shri K.L.Pandey called upon the Railway men/women to reawaken within themselves the noble ideas and values behind our struggle which achieved freedom for our Nation. He exhorted the Railway Officials to strive continuously in order to transcend all the previous performances through systemic improvements and innovations in the Railway operations to ensure satisfactory service to rail customers.‘Customer Satisfaction’ continues to be the prime focus in all our activities and every Railway men and women should have earnest resolve to orient the rail services towards ensuring passenger friendly and comfortable rail journey, he stressed the elucidated various service improvement and developmental activities accomplished by SCR in the recent past. The cultural programs presented by students from Railway Schools and Colleges enthralled the audience.

Due to line block to facilitate engineering works in Chennai Central – Gudur section, the following changes will be made in the pattern of train services from 19th August to 22nd  August, 2013.

TRAINS PARTIALLY CANCELLED BETWEEN ENNORE - GUMMIDIPUNDI:


1) Train No. 42011 MMC – Gummidipundi EMU scheduled to leave MMC at 08.50 hrs.

2) Train No. 42013 MMC – Gummidipundi EMU scheduled to leave MMC at 09.22 hrs.

TRAINS PARTIALLY CANCELLED BETWEEN GUMMIDIPUNDI - ENNORE:


1) Train No. 42020 Gummidipundi - MMC EMU scheduled to leave Gummidipundi at 10.50 hrs.

2) Train No. 42022 Gummidipundi - MMC EMU scheduled to leave Gummidipundi at 11.20 hrs.

TRAINS PARTIALLY CANCELLED BETWEEN ENNORE - SULURPETA:


1) Train No. 42411 MMC – Sulurpeta EMU scheduled to leave MMC at 09.55 hrs.

2) Train No. 42406 Sulurpteta – MMC EMU scheduled to leave Sulurpeta at 09.45 hrs.



Train No.57240 Bitragunta – Chennai Central passenger scheduled to arrive Chennai Central at 12.00 hrs. will be regulated at Ponneri for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

नोएडा : सेक्टर-33 स्थित रेलवे आरक्षण केंद्र पर शुक्रवार सुबह भारी बारिश व बिजली कटौती से तत्काल सेवा बाधित हो गई। बिजली कटौती और जनरेटर खराब होने से सुबह 7 बजे से लेकर साढ़े 10 बजे से टिकट की बुकिंग नहीं हो सकी। खासतौर पर सुबह 10 बजे से तत्काल में रिजर्वेशन कराने आए लोगों को निराश लौटना पड़ा। साढ़े दस बजे जब बिजली आपूर्ति हुई, तब तक अधिकतर ट्रेनों में तत्काल कोटा खत्म हो चुका था।
पटना जाने के लिए तत्काल में रिजर्वेशन कराने आए मोहन राय ने बताया कि वह भारी बारिश होने के बावजूद सुबह 7 बजे ही किसी तरह टिकट आरक्षण केंद्र पर पहुंचे थे। यहां आकर पता चला कि बिजली ही नहीं है। जनरेटर खराब होने से टिकट काउंटर ठप पड़ा था। तत्काल में आरक्षण सुबह 10 बजे से शुरू होने को देखते हुए वह बिजली आने का इंतजार करने लगे। इसके बावजूद करीब आधे घंटे बाद बिजली आपूर्ति हुई तब तक उनकी ट्रेन में तत्काल कोटा खत्म हो चुका था।
इस बारे में रेलवे आरक्षण केंद्र के एससी त्यागी ने बताया कि बिजली आपूर्ति नहीं थी और जनरेटर चलाने के लिए कई बार प्रयास किया गया, पर सफलता नहीं मिली। उन्होंने बताया कि आरक्षण केंद्र पर 24 घंटे बिजली आपूर्ति किए जाने की मांग की गई है, ताकि भविष्य में टिकट आरक्षण कराने में लोगों को परेशानी नहीं हो।

Around 150 minors were rescued from the New Delhi railway station as they were boarding a train for Gujarat, police said Friday.The children - aged between six and 17 years - had come to Delhi from Nepal and Bihar. Police said they were ostensibly going to a school in Gujarat.Refusing to divulge details, police said: "The children will be produced before the child welfare committee. We are also trying to contact their parents."It was not immediately clear whether any adults were accompanying the children and whether any action was taken against them.

Last year’s runner-up ONGC (Dehradun) brushed aside the challenge of title holder IOB (Chennai) 70-48 to emerge the men’s champion of the 49th all-India basketball tournament for the PSG Trophy at the PSG Tech indoor courts here on Thursday.

The game was hot from the very start. International star Vishesh Briguvanshi’s injection of pace during the first couple of minutes was what ONGC required badly for the big match. He set the pace and the team grew in confidence from there. Trideep Rai, R. Muralikrishna and Amrit Pal Singh controlled the court and even shot baskets at regular intervals.Amjyot Singh, Pratham Singh and Sivabalan counter attacked smartly for IOB. Despite the late charge, the Chennai men found themselves trailing by five points (15-20) at the end of the first quarter. IOB came nto the second period all fired up. And, two minutes into the session, they even managed to take the lead. Sivabalan played a key role for the team at this juncture. IOB not only took the lead but also defended well. At the halfway mark, it was just one point that separated the teams.

After the lemon break, both teams mixed caution with aggression. If Amjyot reached the ring with ease for IOB, so did Vishesh and Trideep for ONGC. But the early points secured by the ONGC men midway through saved the day for the team at the end.

It was an easy ride for Southern Railway (Chennai) in the women’s section. With quality stars such as Geethu Anna Jose, Anitha Paul Durai and Soniya Joy in its ranks, the Chennai outfit, barring for a brief period, called the shots before ousting a well-oiled South Central Railway (SCR) unit from Secunderabad 70-53 for the CRI Pumps Trophy.

The Chennai team gained an early edge, thanks to the efforts of Geethu (30 pts) and Anitha (21).

The dynamic duo shattered the water-tight defence set by the Secunderabad side time and again to score baskets with ease. But the SCR women were not deterred. They continued to fight but the contest was good as over for the team in the last quarter.

Bunny and i both love train travel. Regrettably, though India has one of the biggest rail networks in the world, several factors deter all but the most determined of travellers from using this mode of transport.

Thanks to politicos and babus monopolising berths through their VVIP quotas, it's almost impossible to get reservations at short, or even long, notice. Then there is the sheer size of the country, which makes 40- and even 50-hour journeys not uncommon, too long for even diehard train buffs.

Britain, on the other hand, is ideally suited for exploration by train. Despite the 'Great' in Great Britain, the country is small enough to be traversed comfortably by train, from end to end and side to side. British trains are convenient and comfortable and generally punctual. But they do have a major drawback: they are hideously expensive, many rail tickets costing more than the equivalent air fare.

However, there is a way to get around this obstacle. Overseas visitors can buy in their home countries rail passes which they can use for virtually unlimited train travel in Britain. What we got was a pass which entitled us to travel anywhere within Britain on any four days of our choosing. Anywhere in Britain? Wow. So we began figuring out the longest distance we could cover in a single day, following the time-honoured Indian precept of 'Paisa vasool', which translates into getting the maximum value for your money, the biggest bang for your buck.

But in this case paisa vasool almost proved to be our undoing. For we got so caught up trying to calculate the farthest we could travel in a day, if we started very, very early in the morning and came back to our base camp in London on the same day late at night (Edinburgh, whose main street, Princes Street, is the loveliest main street of any city in the world? Inverness, the 'Gateway to the Scottish Highlands', which is even farther north? Penzance in Cornwall, close to the westernmost tip of Britain?) that the days sped by without our having travelled anywhere. At this rate we were in danger of running out of days in Britain before we ran out of passes or potential places to go to.

Paisa vasool be hanged. In the end we settled for the most scientific way of making a rational choice: Eenie meenie mina mo. And so, thanks to this infallible calculus of decision-making, we went to the historic city of Chester, with its ancient Roman ruins and its magnificent 12th century cathedral; Peterborough, also famed for its cathedral where the French monarch Pepin le Bref (literally Pepin the Brief, because he was so short) is buried; to Torquay in Devon, famed for its beaches and seafood; and the utterly charming town of Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds, where the stone-built houses seem to glow with a buttery light and are called 'bottled sunshine'.

The lickety-split, clickety-clack, clackity-split of the train's rails was like a sewing machine stitching together an ever-changing tapestry of sea-green meadows and pastures on which sheep and cattle grazed, dense copses of trees, the sudden soar of a church steeple around which a cluster of cottages huddled in gossipy congregation.

So in the end, thanks to our train passes, we did get to see a lot of Britain and to feel that our paisa had been sufficiently vasooled. And there's a bonus. Back in Gurgaon from our trip, Bunny and i are still woken from sleep early wondering whether we will have time to make it to Edinburgh (or should it be Penzance?) and back in a day. Better than any alarm clock. Jaldi jago, paisa vasool karo.

New Delhi: Thousands of Metro commuters had a harrowing experience this morning after trains were delayed and many were left stranded at various stations on the Dwarka to Noida city centre route as services were disrupted due to a problem in Over-head Electrification (OHE)."Due to OHE problem between Karol Bagh and R K Ashram station, train services are being run in three loops on Line 3. Trains are being run on short loop between Karol Bagh to Dwarka Sector 21 and Barakhamba to Noida/Vaishali and single line between Karol Bagh and Barakhamba since 11:40 AM," a DMRC spokesperson said.Mitali, a commuter who works in central Delhi, said, "Trains were stopping for at least 10 to 15 minutes at the stations on the route and running very slow. I reached office an hour late."Announcements were being made in trains that ventilation and lights are running on battery system.It was a chaotic situation at all stations on the line as several people were stranded for more than an hour waiting for trains to arrive. Office-goers had a harrowing time with Metro services delayed and major traffic snarls on arterial roads as heavy rains lashed the national capital.

The DMRC spokesperson said Metro services resumed normal operations by 12:50 PM.

OHE problems on Metro trains have become common now.

In July this year, owing to electrification problem, Metro services on the blue line to Noida were disrupted for over three hours.

On June 11 this year, train going to HUDA City Centre on the busy yellow line broke down in the middle of the tunnel between Central Secretariat and Udhyog Bhawan stations, giving a difficult time to over 1,791 passengers on board the train and severely affecting Metro services across the city during the morning rush hour.
