SCR Celebrates 67th Independence Day

South Central Railway celebrated 67thIndependence Day today (15th August 2013) at the Railway Sports Complex Grounds, Secunderabad. Shri K.L.Pandey, Addl. General Manager, South Central Railway unfurled the National Flag and delivered Independence Day Message. Earlier he received the Guard of Honor presented by various contingents representing Railway Protection Force, Civil Defence Organization, National Cadet Corps, Scouts and Guides etc,. Smart was the Independence Day parade presented by these contingents. Senior Railway Officials & Staff participated in the celebrations with their family members.
            While delivering the Independence Day Message Shri K.L.Pandey called upon the Railway men/women to reawaken within themselves the noble ideas and values behind our struggle which achieved freedom for our Nation. He exhorted the Railway Officials to strive continuously in order to transcend all the previous performances through systemic improvements and innovations in the Railway operations to ensure satisfactory service to rail customers.‘Customer Satisfaction’ continues to be the prime focus in all our activities and every Railway men and women should have earnest resolve to orient the rail services towards ensuring passenger friendly and comfortable rail journey, he stressed the elucidated various service improvement and developmental activities accomplished by SCR in the recent past. The cultural programs presented by students from Railway Schools and Colleges enthralled the audience.

Due to line block to facilitate engineering works in Chennai Central – Gudur section, the following changes will be made in the pattern of train services from 19th August to 22nd  August, 2013.

Last year’s runner-up ONGC (Dehradun) brushed aside the challenge of title holder IOB (Chennai) 70-48 to emerge the men’s champion of the 49th all-India basketball tournament for the PSG Trophy at the PSG Tech indoor courts here on Thursday.

The game was hot from the very start. International star Vishesh Briguvanshi’s injection of pace during the first couple of minutes was what ONGC required badly for the big match. He set the pace and the team grew in confidence from there. Trideep Rai, R. Muralikrishna and Amrit Pal Singh controlled the court and even shot baskets at regular intervals.Amjyot Singh, Pratham Singh and Sivabalan counter attacked smartly for IOB. Despite the late charge, the Chennai men found themselves trailing by five points (15-20) at the end of the first quarter. IOB came nto the second period all fired up. And, two minutes into the session, they even managed to take the lead. Sivabalan played a key role for the team at this juncture. IOB not only took the lead but also defended well. At the halfway mark, it was just one point that separated the teams.

After the lemon break, both teams mixed caution with aggression. If Amjyot reached the ring with ease for IOB, so did Vishesh and Trideep for ONGC. But the early points secured by the ONGC men midway through saved the day for the team at the end.

It was an easy ride for Southern Railway (Chennai) in the women’s section. With quality stars such as Geethu Anna Jose, Anitha Paul Durai and Soniya Joy in its ranks, the Chennai outfit, barring for a brief period, called the shots before ousting a well-oiled South Central Railway (SCR) unit from Secunderabad 70-53 for the CRI Pumps Trophy.

The Chennai team gained an early edge, thanks to the efforts of Geethu (30 pts) and Anitha (21).

The dynamic duo shattered the water-tight defence set by the Secunderabad side time and again to score baskets with ease. But the SCR women were not deterred. They continued to fight but the contest was good as over for the team in the last quarter.

Men (PSG Trophy): ONGC (Dehradun) 70 bt IOB (Chennai) 48.

Women (CRI Pumps Trophy): Southern Railway (Chennai) 70 (Geethu Anna Jose 30, Anitha Paul Durai 21, Neena Hareendran 11) bt South Central Railway (Secunderabad) 53 (M. Gayathri 16, Manda Meshram 12, Aashna Ujawanay 11).

Dhubri: In view of frequent strikes and rail blockades, a delegation of New Moinaguri-Jogighopa Railway Extension Demand Committee will leave for New Delhi on Saturday to meet railway minister Mallikarjun Kharge. It will demand speedy completion of the new and alternative railway line from Dhubri to Abhayapuri connecting Guwahati.

“In order to get rid of this situation, there is only one solution — completion of this 85-km new railway line without traversing through Srirampur, Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar and New Bongaigaon. It could connect the Northeast with the rest of the country,” said Tazmul Haque, joint convener of the committee.

Haque said the delegation would lay emphasis on speedy completion of the alternative railway route and put pressure on the Union railway minister as strikes and blockades on the existing railway route cut off people of the Northeast from the rest of the country.

Haque also said if this alternative railway route was not completed soon, then not only would passengers suffer, it would also hit the foodgrain supply.

Committee sources said the new railway line from New Coochbehar to Golokganj was completed in 2012 but work on the remaining part from Gauripur to Abhayapuri was stalled because of paucity of funds a couple of month ago.

To complete the work, Rs.850 crore was required but the railway ministry has not sanctioned any funds in the last two budgets, sources alleged.

A railway source in Dhubri said the new railway line would ease the suffering of the people, as it would run from New Coochbehar-Golokganj, Gauripur-Bogribari-Bilasipara-Chapor-Bahalpur-Abhayapuri. It will connect the Goalpara-Guwahati railway route.

A railway source in Alipurduar junction said thousands of passengers were stranded on platforms and nearly 80 goods trains carrying essential items had to be stopped at several stations in Bengal during the recent blockades and strikes.

Owing to heavy rains, the power & traffic blocks of 7 hrs. each scheduled for undertaking the work of  replacement of girders of Bridge No. 14 between Tilak Bridge- Hazrat Nizamuddin stations of Delhi Division during night hours of 16/17.8.2013 & 17/18.08.2013 have been  postponed till further notice.The rail traffic will now run as per their schedule.Owing to heavy rains, the power & traffic blocks of 7 hrs. each scheduled for undertaking the work of  replacement of girders of Bridge No. 14 between Tilak Bridge- Hazrat Nizamuddin stations of Delhi Division during night hours of 16/17.8.2013 & 17/18.08.2013 have been  postponed till further notice.The rail traffic will now run as per their schedule.

SCR Provides 10,000 Additional Berths by attaching Additional Coaches to Several Express Trains to Clear Extra Rush / Waitlisted Passengers

        South Central Railway will temporarily augment the following express trains with additional Coaches  to clear the extra rush / waitlisted passengers as per the details  below:-



1.Tr.No. 17210 Kakinada Town - Bangalore Seshadri Express will be augmented with one additional AC III tier from 16th August, 2013 to 31st August, 2013

2.Tr.No. 17209 Bangalore - Kakinada Town Seshadri Express will be augmented with one additional AC III tier from 17th August, 2013 to 31st August, 2013

3.Tr.No. 17405 Tirupati - Adilabad Krishna Express will be augmented with one additional Sleeper Class Coach from 16th August, 2013 to 31st August, 2013

4.Tr.No. 17406 Adilabad - Tirupati Krishna Express will be augmented with one additional Sleeper Class Coach from 17th August, 2013 to 31st August, 2013

5.Tr.No. 12797 Kacheguda - Chittoor Venkatadri Express will be augmented with one additional AC II tier Coach from 16th August, 2013 to 31st August, 2013

6.Tr.No. 12798 Chittoor - Kacheguda Venkatadri Express will be augmented with one additional AC II tier Coach from 16th August, 2013 to 31st August, 2013

            These  additional 32 AC II Tier coaches  will make available 1472 additional AC II Tier berths, 63 additional AC III Tier coaches will make available 4032 additional AC III Tier berths and 62 additional Sleeper Class Coaches will make available 4464 additional Sleeper Class Berths.


In all, 10,000 additional berths will be made available by these 157 additional coaches to cater to the extra rush of passengers.

Due to non-interlocking work in connection with yard remodeling of Gorakhpur station over North Eastern Railway from 26.09.2013 to 06.10.2013, the following trains will be cancelled/short terminated/diverted/rescheduled as under:

Cancellation of Trains

·The 12532 Lucknow Jn.- Gorakhpur Intercity Express train will be cancelled from 29.9.2013 to 6.10.2013.

·The 15274 Delhi Jn.- Raxaul Satyagrah Express train will be cancelled from 29.9.2013 to 5.10.2013.

·The 15273 Raxaul-Delhi Jn. Satyagrah Express train will be cancelled from 30.9.2013 to 6.10.2013.

·The 15211/15212 Darbhanga-Amritsar Jan Nayak Express train will be cancelled from 2.10.2013 to 5.10.2013.

·The 15279 Saharsa-Adarsh Nagar Delhi Purabia Express train will be cancelled from 3.10.2013 to 6.10.2013.

· The 15280 Adarsh Nagar Delhi-Saharsa Purabia Express train will be cancelled from 4.10.2013 to 7.10.2013.

·The 14604 Amritsar-Saharsa Jan Sadharan Express train will be cancelled o­n 2.10.2013.

·The 14603 Saharsa-Amritsar Jan Sadharan Express train will be cancelled o­n 4.10.2013.

Short Termination Of Trains

·The 15006 Dehradun-Gorakhpur Express train will be short terminated at Lucknow Jn. instead of Gorakhpuron 1.10.2013 & 3.10.2013.

·The 15005 Gorakhpur-Dehradun Express train will short originate from Lucknow Jn. instead of Gorakhpuron 2.10.2013 & 4.10.2013.

·The 12556 Hisar-Gorakhpur Gorakhdham Express train will be short terminated at Dorningarh instead of Gorakhpuron 5.10.2013.

Diversion of Trains

·The 15708 Amritsar-Katihar Express train will be diverted to run via Lucknow- Barabanki- Faizabad- Shahganj- Mau- Indara- Chhapra from 28.9.2013 to 5.10.2013.

·The 15707 Katihar-Amritsar Express train will be diverted to run via Chhapra-Indara-Mau-Shahganj-Lucknow from 2.10.2013 to 5.10.2013.

·The 15609/15610 Guwahati-Lalgarh-Guwahati Avadh Assam Express train will be diverted to run via Chhapra-Aunihar-Varanasi-Sultanpur-Lucknow from 2.10.2013 to 4.10.2013.

·The 12565 Darbhanga-New Delhi Bihar S.K. Express train will be diverted to run via Chhapra-Aunihar-Varanasi-Janghai-Pratapgarh-Lucknow from 3.10.2013 to 6.10.2013.

·The 12566 New Delhi-Darbhanga Bihar S.K. Express train will be diverted to run via Lucknow-Pratapgarh-Janghai-Varanasi-Aunihar-Chhapra from 2.10.2013 to 5.10.2013.

·The 12557 Muzaffarpur-Anand Vihar T. Express train will be diverted to run via Gorakhpur Cantt.-Bhatni-Varanasi-Sultanpur-Lucknow o­n 5.10.2013.

Rescheduling of trains

·The 13020 Kathgodam-Howrah Bagh Express train scheduled to leave Kathgodam at 9.55 p.m. o­n 5.10.2013, will be rescheduled to leave at 11.55 p.m.

·The 12491 Muzaffarpur-Jammu Tawi Mour Dhawaj Express train scheduled to leave Muzaffarpur at 7.00 a.m. o­n 6.10.2013, will be rescheduled to leave at 8.30 a.m.

SCR to Run Twelve Special Trains Between Secunderabad-Guwahati

South Central Railway will run Twelve Special Trains between Secunderabad- Guwahati in order to clear extra rush of passengers as per the following schedule:-

Train No. 07149 Secunderabad - Guwahati Special Train will depart Secunderabad at 07 30 hrs o­n 23rd, 30th August and 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th September 2013 (Fridays) and arrive Guwahati at 07 55 hrs o­n Sundays.

In the return direction, Train No.07150 Guwahati - Secunderabad Special Train will depart Guwahati at 06 00 hrs o­n 26th August and 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th September 2013 (Mondays) and arrive Secunderabad at 09 15 hrs o­n Wednesdays.

Enroute, these trains will stop at Jangaon, Kazipet, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Anakapalli, Duvada, Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram, Palasa, Berhampur, Kurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kharagpur, Howrah, Bolpur, Rampurhat, Malda, Barsoi, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, Dhupguri, New Coochbehar, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon, Goalpura Town and Kamakhya stations in both the directions.
These trains will have 16 coaches viz, o­ne AC II Tier, o­ne AC III Tier, Eight Sleeper Class, Four General Second Class and Two Second Class Luggage Cum Brake Van Coaches.

Temporary Additional AC First Class Coach to Hyderabad-Trivandrum-Hyderabad Sabari Express

  South Central Railway will temporarily augment Hyderabad-Trivandrum-Hyderabad Sabari Express with o­ne additional AC First Class Coachfrom 25th to 31st August, 2013 to clear the extra rush / waitlisted  passengers as per the following schedule.

Accordingly, Tr.No.17230 Hyderabad-Trivandrum-Hyderabad Sabari Express will be temporarily augmented with o­ne additional AC First Class coach Ex-Hyderabad from 25th to 31st August, 2013.

Tr.No.17229 Trivandrum-Hyderabad-Trivandrum Sabari Express will be temporarily augmented with o­ne additional AC First Class coach Ex-Trivandrum from 27th to 31stAugust, 2013.

These two additional AC First Class Coaches will make available 216 additional First Class berths.
