लखनऊ। भारतीय रेल खानपान एवं पर्यटन निगम (आइआरसीटीसी) द्वारा 88 करोड़ की लागत से एक नया साफ्टवेयर बनाया जा रहा है। इसके लांच होते ही ऑनलाइन टिकट कराने वाले यात्रियों की समस्याएं खत्म हो जाएंगी वहीं यात्रियों को कई बेहतर सेवाएं भी उपलब्ध कराई जाएंगी। यात्री मैसेज करके जान सकेंगे कि उनकी ट्रेन किस प्लेटफार्म पर आ रही है। विकलांग यात्रियों को ई-टिकट पर भी छूट दी जाएगी। भविष्य में कैंसर, हृदय रोगी सहित तमाम उन लोगों को छूट देने का प्रावधान बनाया जाएगा जो वर्तमान में काउंटर टिकट कराने पर छूट पाते हैं। |

The Railways will introduce Braille stickers in coaches to help visually-impaired people navigate their way. The Braille stickers would be in the form of metallic base with printed characters embedded on it.Currently, the signages made of vinyl stickers or metallic plates carrying instructions and seat numbers are used in trains.The railways had received suggestions that Braille stickers be used for the benefit of the visually challenged.“The first prototype coach is expected to be turned out from ICF in October 2013 for feedback. This is expected to be a major step for facilitation of visually-impaired passengers during journey in trains,” Railway Ministry officials said.Officials said that the Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), a production unit of the Indian Railways, has developed the specification for integrated Braille signages in coaches in consultations with Blind Associations .Several inputs received from Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) have also been implemented.The Braille printing will be superimposed on these stickers and same can be used by both a person with normal vision and visually impaired person. The stickers would be of superior quality, the embedded picture or characters would not get defaced easily even on repeated use. Being made of flexible metal foil base and adhesive backing, the stickers would be easy to install on flat as well as on curved surfaces of the coach, the Railways Ministry officials added. |

The gross earnings of the Salem Railway Division up to July 2013 is Rs. 173 crore, which is 13 per cent more when compared to the same period last fiscal year, Divisional Railway Manager Sujatha Jayaraj said here on Thursday.Addressing the gathering after unfurling the national flag at the Railway Grounds, she said that though earnings from freight traffic have gone down by two per cent, passenger earnings have increased by 13 per cent.Outlining the various works being carried out by the division, she said that electrification of Mettupalayam — Coimbatore sector would be take up this fiscal year apart from completion of new subway at Coimbatore Railway Junction, front elevation works in Tirupur Junction.She added that new foot over bridge and passenger lifts at the Salem Junction, extension of Salem station building and improvement of circulating area, provision of air-conditioned waiting room in Salem Junction works were nearing completion. |

What appeared to be a case of large-scale trafficking of children, who were intercepted by the police at New Delhi railway station on Friday, turned out to be a journey undertaken by 156 minors from Bihar and Nepal to study at a madrassa in Gujarat. The drama unfolded when the police got an anonymous call saying that children were being trafficked on board the Firozpur-Mumbai Janta Express. The minors first got off a train at the Anand Vihar station and were then taken to the New Delhi railway station to catch a train to Gujarat.Acting on the tip-off, the police, in coordination with a non-government organisation, tracked down the children. While 22 minors are from Nepal, the rest are from Katihar, Saharsa and Araria in Bihar. “They were accompanied by 11 adults. Since all the children could not be produced before the CWC, we requested CWC chairman Sushma Vij to visit the railway station for the proceedings,” said an officer.Accordingly, the CWC chairman and two Committee members interviewed the children, aged between seven and 15 years, and the adults. “They said they were on their way back to a madrassa at Bharuch in Gujarat after Id vacations. Most children were enrolled with the educational institution,” said Ms. Vij.The CWC chairman said: “It was certainly not a case of human trafficking. However, we wanted to conduct a thorough inquiry and crosscheck with their parents. Accordingly we drafted an order directing that they should be kept at a care home. But then some community leaders from the nearby areas of Jama Masjid and Nabi Karim reached there along with their supporters and said the situation would get aggravated if the children were not allowed to go. Following discussions, and to avoid any trouble, we decided to issue a fresh order restoring them to the adults travelling with them. We also crosschecked with the Bharuch Deputy Superintendent of Police about the madrassa before issuing the order.” |

कानपुर, एक प्रतिनिधि : दिल्ली-हावड़ा रेल मार्ग पर ट्रेनों के मेंटीनेंस से खिलवाड़ हो रहा है। इसका प्रमाण वीआईपी ट्रेनों तक के इंजन फेल होना है। गुरुवार को दिल्ली से आ रही कालका मेल का इंजन भाऊपुर के पास फेल हो गया। तमाम कोशिश के बाद भी इंजन ठीक नहीं किया जा सका तो दूसरा इंजन लगाकर ट्रेन को सेंट्रल स्टेशन लाया गया। इस घटना से ट्रेन ढाई घंटे लेट हो गई। यात्रियों ने हंगामा किया। उधर, गुरुवार रात ही नई दिल्ली से सेंट्रल स्टेशन आ रही शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस का इंजन भी रास्ते में खराब हो गया। ट्रेन आधा घंटा लेट हो गई। तीसरी घटना में शुक्रवार को स्वर्णशताब्दी एक्सप्रेस का इंजन नई दिल्ली से चलते ही फेल हो गया। इस घटना से ट्रेन डेढ़ घंटे देरी से सेंट्रल स्टेशन पर आई। सेंट्रल स्टेशन के वरिष्ठ स्टेशन अधीक्षक मेवालाल ने बताया रास्ते में ट्रेनों के इंजन फेल होने की जानकारी नहीं है। स्वर्णशताब्दी देरी से स्टेशन पर आई। |
