कांग्रेसी नेताओं की बैठक कालका में शुक्रवार को हुई, इसमें उत्तरी रेलवे उपभोक्ता सलाहकार समिति अंबाला मंडल के सदस्य अजय सिंगला विशेष रूप से शामिल हुए।
सिंगला ने कहा कि सांसद एवं केंद्रीय मंत्री कुमारी शैलजा के प्रयासों से अंबाला-दिल्ली के बीच वाया बराड़ा-जगाधरी रेल सेवा जल्द शुरू की जाएगी। कालका और पिंजौर क्षेत्र के लोगों की यह बहुत पुरानी मांग है। इसके अलावा कालका से कटरा एवं कालका से शिरडी के बीच भी रेल सेवा शुरू करने की मांग की गई है।

लखीसराय : जिला पुलिस ने स्वतंत्रता दिवस के दिन दो नक्सलियों को गिरफ्तार किया है। दोनों नक्सली किऊल-झाझा रेलखंड में कुंदर हाल्ट के पास धनबाद-पटना इंटरसिटी ट्रेन पर हुए हमले में शामिल था।
एसपी राजीव मिश्रा ने बताया, बीते 13 जून को नक्सलियों ने दिनदहाड़े ट्रेन पर गोली व बमबारी कर एक पुलिस सब इंस्पेक्टर सहित तीन लोगों की हत्या कर दी थी। साथ ही जवानों से एक एके. 47 व दो इंसास राइफल व भारी मात्रा में कारतूस लूट लिया था। इस चर्चित घटना के दो माह बाद पुलिस ने वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान के जरिए नक्सल प्रभावित क्षेत्र कानीमोहगांव में छापेमारी कर कारेलाल कोड़ा उर्फ प्यारे लाल कोड़ा व राजेश मोदी को गिरफ्तार किया। पूछताछ में दोनों नक्सलियो ने कई घटनाओं में अपनी संलिप्तता स्वीकार करते हुए पुलिस के समक्ष कई महत्वपूर्ण जानकारी दी है। इस अभियान में एएसपी अभियान राजेश कुमार, एसडीपीओ सुबोध कुमार विश्वास, लखीसराय थानाध्यक्ष राजकुमार तिवारी, कजरा थानाध्यक्ष पवन कुमार झा, पीरी बाजार थानाध्यक्ष अभिनव कुमार दुबे व सीआरपीएफ जवान शामिल थे।
एसपी ने बताया, गिरफ्तार नक्सलियों ने तीन अगस्त 2013 को शिवडीह में सड़क निर्माण में लगे एक ठेकेदार सुबोध कुमार के मुंशीव वाहन चालक को अगवा कर उन्हें राजघाट कोल ले जाकर बोलेरो जलाने की घटना में भी शामिल था। एसपी ने कहा, माओवादी संगठन अपने सिद्धांतों को छोड़कर एक संगठित आपराधिक गिरोह चला कर लेवी वसूली कर रहा है। साथ ही ग्रामीणों व युवक-युवतियों को डरा धमका कर अपने संगठन से जोड़ने के लिए गुमराह कर रहा है। एसपी ने कहा, वन क्षेत्र में रहने वाले आदिवासियों की सुरक्षा के साथ-साथ सरकार आपके द्वार कार्यक्रम के माध्यम से विकास का लाभ पहुंचाने के लिए प्रयास कर रही है।

झींझक,अंप्र : दिल्ली-हावड़ा रेल मार्ग पर झींझक स्टेशन की पूर्वी केबिन के पास सिग्नल प्वाइंट खराब होने से डाउन ट्रैक पर रेल यातायात 15 मिनट प्रभावित रहा। झींझक स्टेशन के पूर्वी केबिन के पास आटोमेटिक सिग्नल प्वाइंट संख्या 202 में गुरुवार पूर्वाह्न 11.30 बजे तकनीकी खराबी आ गई। इससे डाउन ट्रैक की सिग्नल प्रणाली ध्वस्त हो गई। सिग्नल इंस्पेक्टर अनिल कुमार हनुमत टीम लेकर मौके पर पहुंचे और 15 मिनट में सिग्नल ठीक कर दिया। इस दौरान डाउन मुरी एक्सप्रेस व डाउन डुप्लीकेट कालका को खराब सिग्नल प्वाइंट के पास रोककर आगे रवाना किया गया। स्टेशन मास्टर अमर सिंह पाल ने बताया 15 मिनट तक डाउन ट्रैक पर रेल यातायात प्रभावित रहा।

राजधानी के इंजन से गाय टकराई गाय, बचा हादसा1झींझक: कस्बा स्थित रेलवे फाटक के पास नई दिल्ली से गुवाहाटी जा रही राजधानी एक्सप्रेस के इंजन से टकराकर गुरुवार शाम एक गाय की चीथड़े उड़ गए। चालक ने इंजन से तेज आवाज आने पर ट्रेन को इमरजेंसी ब्रेक लगाकर प्लेटफार्म पर रोक लिया। तेज झटके के साथ ट्रेन रुकने से यात्रियों में हड़कंप मच गया। स्टेशन मास्टर बृजेश मीणा ने बताया राजधानी एक्सप्रेस के इंजन से गाय टकराने के कारण कुछ देर डाउन लाइन पर रेल यातायात प्रभावित हुआ।

कानपुर, एक प्रतिनिधि : दिल्ली-हावड़ा रेल मार्ग पर ट्रेनों के मेंटीनेंस से खिलवाड़ हो रहा है। इसका प्रमाण वीआईपी ट्रेनों तक के इंजन फेल होना है। गुरुवार को दिल्ली से आ रही कालका मेल का इंजन भाऊपुर के पास फेल हो गया। तमाम कोशिश के बाद भी इंजन ठीक नहीं किया जा सका तो दूसरा इंजन लगाकर ट्रेन को सेंट्रल स्टेशन लाया गया। इस घटना से ट्रेन ढाई घंटे लेट हो गई। यात्रियों ने हंगामा किया। उधर, गुरुवार रात ही नई दिल्ली से सेंट्रल स्टेशन आ रही शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस का इंजन भी रास्ते में खराब हो गया। ट्रेन आधा घंटा लेट हो गई। तीसरी घटना में शुक्रवार को स्वर्णशताब्दी एक्सप्रेस का इंजन नई दिल्ली से चलते ही फेल हो गया। इस घटना से ट्रेन डेढ़ घंटे देरी से सेंट्रल स्टेशन पर आई। सेंट्रल स्टेशन के वरिष्ठ स्टेशन अधीक्षक मेवालाल ने बताया रास्ते में ट्रेनों के इंजन फेल होने की जानकारी नहीं है। स्वर्णशताब्दी देरी से स्टेशन पर आई।

Municipal Administration and Wakf Minister Qamar-ul Islam said that the 67th Independence Day celebrations signalled the beginning of a new era of development for Hyderabad Karnataka.Two long-pending demands of the region are becoming a reality: establishment of a permanent bench of the Karnataka High Court, and implementation of Article 371(J).Speaking after inspecting the guard of honour and unfurling the national flag during the Independence Day celebrations on the Police Parade Ground here on Thursday, Mr. Islam said that the permanent bench of the Karnataka High Court here would cover Gulbarga, Yadgir, Bijapur and Raichur.It would be inaugurated on August 31. Chief Justice of India P. Sathasivam has been invited to participate in the inaugural function.Mr. Islam said that the State has already decided to extend the benefits of Article 371(J) to the people of Hyderabad Karnataka. The framing of rules and fixing of reservation has been finalised.Once the notification empowering the Governor to frame the rules for implementing Article 371(J) gets Presidential assent, special status would become a reality, he said.

It is heartening to note that the Centre and State have joined hands to develop the region’s road and rail network, the Minister said. He lauded Railway Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge for his contributions to the region’s development: getting the ESIC super-speciality hospital for Gulbarga, upgradation of the railway station, expediting the construction of the Gulbarga-Bidar rail line, and the electrification of the Wadi-Gulbarga rail line.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to protect wakf properties. Survey and listing of wakf properties was nearing completion, and this would put an end to the encroachment of wakf properties and enable the government to take back those properties. The government also proposes to construct a Haj Bhavan here, along the lines of the one in Bangalore, he added.

Association says the train should be continued till a new train was introduced


Demand for continuing Rockfort express from Kumbakonam till the new Thanjavur-Chennai Express train is introduced has been growing in Thanjavur district as the people feel that they may lose a vital link to Chennai if the train is short-terminated in Tiruchi before introducing the new train.

People said that reservation had been stopped for Rockfort Express beyond August 28. It was assumed that the train would be stopped by then. If the train was stopped on August 28, people of Thanjavur district would be deprived of a vital link to Chennai. If the new Thanjavur-Chennai Express was introduced before that, it would cater to the demands of the people of the district, they said.

According to A. Giri, Vice-President, Thanjavur District Rail Users’ Association, people of Thanjavur and Kumbakonam had five trains to Chennai before gauge conversion which provided them 1,500 berths. “Now there are three trains — Rameswaram, Mannai express and Rockfort Express — which provide them 422 berths. Out of these, Rockfort Express alone provides them 250 berths. If this train was short-terminated without introducing the new Thanjavur-Chennai express, which had been announced in the last year budget and for which time table has been announced by the Southern Railway, then the people will be deprived of major percentage of berths they enjoy,” Mr. Giri said.

Therefore, the southern Railway should continue to operate the Rockfort Express from Kumbakonam till the new train was introduced, Mr. Giri added.

Running the train from Kumbakonam for a couple of months more would not be a problem. It would help the pilgrims who would throng Velankanni, where the festival of Basilica of Our Lady of Health begins on August 29 and would go on till September 12. Vinayaka Chathurthi falls on September 9, when the people would travel from Chennai to respective places, Mr. Giri said.

He expressed concern over the delay in introducing the new Thanjavur-Chennai Express. “All the three trains announced in Tiruchi division have been introduced. They are Mannai-Coimbatore Chemmozhi Express, Velankanni-Madras Egmore Link Express, Chennai-Karaikudi bi-weekly Express. Only the train from Thanjavur-Chennai has not been introduced so far. It should be introduced immediately,” he said.

V. Jeevakumar, Adviser to Train Passengers Association from Thanjavur to Tiruchi, said that senior citizens were using the Rockfort Express. Train remained the most convenient mode of transport for old people. Rockfort had been a convenient train for people of Kumbakonam and Thanjavur. If it was closed, then the people should be provided with an alternative.

As the new train had been announced, it should be introduced quickly.

K. Padmanabhan, president of Thanjavur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, echoed the same and said that Rockfort Express should be operated from Kumbakonam till the new train was introduced.

S.S. Palani Manickam, MP and former union minister, said he held discussions with General Manager of Southern Railway and Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, regarding the demand. They promised to look into the matter.

Plans to build 85 subways to close 82 level crossings

General Manager of South Western Railway (SWR) Ashok Kumar Mital has said that SWR recorded gross earnings of Rs. 4,185 crore in the last financial year.The railway zone carried 193 million passengers and transported 33.52 million tonnes of freight in 2012-13.In the first quarter of the current financial year 2013–14, SWR carried 10.37 million tonnes of freight and 64.28 million passengers, recording Rs. 1,434 crore as gross earnings.Delivering a speech at the zonal headquarters premises on Gadag Road here on Thursday, Mr. Mital said SWR endeavoured to provide comfortable rail travel to passengers by improving safety, passenger amenities, cleanliness, punctuality and staff behaviour.Mr. Mital said as part of its steps to eliminate level crossings, the zone had constructed 75 subways and closed 91 level crossings during 2012–13 and consequently bagged the Railway Board shield for “Level Crossings and Road Over Bridges (ROBs)/Road Under Bridges (RUBs) works ” for the year.

The zone had planned to build 85 subways and close 82 level crossings during the current financial year and already 14 subways had been completed and 21 level crossings closed at the end of July, he said.

He said that for improving passenger safety Integrated Security System(ISS) was being implemented at stations and work was underway at Bangalore City, Yeshwantpur and Mysore railway stations.

Mr. Mital said the modernisation of Hubli railway station was nearing completion.

Hundreds were left stranded Friday as a technical fault hit Delhi Metro's Blue Line between Karol Bagh and R.K. Ashram Marg stations.By the time the snag was rectified after almost two hours, large crowds had gathered at platforms all along the busy route, linking Dwarka in west Delhi with Noida and Vaishali in Uttar Pradesh.The 49-km Blue Line covers 43 stations in some of the most populous parts of the capital and is the longest in the network."The services ran in three short loops following the technical problem in the overhead electrification line," a metro official said.The crowds were maximum at the Rajiv Chowk interchange, the busiest of all metro stations.

GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway Construction Headquarters on Thursday celebrated the 67th Independence Day with patriotic fervour. General manager (construction) RK Singh in his speech highlighted the organization's performance and spoke about its future plans. He also urged all the employees to work with dedication. A cultural programme was organized on the occasion. Later, Singh inaugurated a newly constructed annexe office building in the headquarters complex.
