Passengers stalled a train at Mangalore Junction (Kankanady) for around an hour after four persons fell ill allegedly from the food served in the train.As the Marusagar express – travelling from Ernakulam to Ajmer – rolled into the station around 9 p.m., four passengers started vomiting. Passengers gathered in front of the train, refusing to let the train proceed until the sick were attended to, said a railway police source. The source confirmed that the food served had gone bad.The crowd dissipated after the doctor attended to the four. The train left 40 minutes behind the schedule.

ALLAHABAD: The general manager of North Central Railway AlokJohri gave away the President's Police Medal and Indian Police Medal to RPF personnel for exemplary performance. The President's Police Medal was awarded to assistant security commissioner (passenger safety) TK Chattopadhyay. In addition to this, Indian Police Medals were bestowed upon retired inspector MP Sharma, inspector Sanjay Kumar Singh, sub-inspector Anil Kumar Singh, head constable Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, head constable IndrajYadav and constable Abhinandan Singh Sengar for their meritorious performance.Meanwhile, Johri inaugurated the newly-built regional Railway Protection Force Training Centre at Subedarganj on Saturday. While addressing the RPF officers and the personnel, the general manager observed that the new training centre will help provide better training to RPF personnel. Further, it will also enhance the working potential of the RPF personnel, he said. He also appreciated the architecture of the building of the training centre.

It is pertinent to mention that various types of training will be imparted at this newly-built RPF training centre including training of RPF sub-inspectors and constable cadets, refresher fire-fighting course, modern weapons course, computer training and other courses.On this occasion, chief security commissioner Anoop Srivastava, principal chief engineer Satish Kumar, chief administrative officer (construction) BK Govil, heads of departments and divisional railway manager of Allahabad division Harendra Rao were present.

Taking cognisance of curfew in Jammu and Kashmir, a total of 80 Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel have been deployed to escort eight express trains plying between Ambala and Jammu stations.The trains in which the RPSF men have been deployed along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) men are the Malwa Express, Swaraj Express, Dee Uhp AC superfast and Jat Durg superfast.Sources in the Northern Railway said a company comprising 80 RPSF men had been sent to the Ambala station for deployment on the trains.Sources in the Railways said seven RPSF personnel along with two RPF men would escort each train and around 20 RPF personnel were deployed at the Ambala station to inspect all trains plying from the station.Railway Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Mohinder Singh said the RPSF was a reserve force which is usually deployed during disturbances for the security of the passengers.

Records revealed that more than 20 trains were plying between Ambala and Jammu. Officials said the trains were shortlisted for additional security as they were prone to attack by anti-social elements.

धनबाद से कोयला देकर अयोध्या आ रही मालगाड़ी के आठ डिब्बे अचानक पटरी से उतर गए। यह हादसा फैजाबाद-वाराणसी रेल प्रखंड पर शनिवार की दोपहर को हुआ। हादसे के बाद इस रूट पर रेल यातायात ठप हो गया। एक माह के भीतर ट्रेन बेपटरी होने की यह दूसरी घटना है गए। मंडल रेल प्रबंधक जगदीप राय ने मौके पर पहुंच कर घटना के बावत जानकारी हासिल की। इस बड़ हादसे को लेकर कोई भी अधिकारी अभी कुछ बता पाने की स्थिति में नहीं है। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि जांच के बाद ही कुछ कहा जा सकता है। फरक्का सहित आधा दर्जन ट्रेनों को मार्ग परिवर्तित कर चलाया गया, जिससे फरक्का सहित आधा दर्जन ट्रेनें फैजाबाद जंक्शन नहीं पहुंच सकी। इसी बीच यात्रियों को काफी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ा।
संवादसूत्र मयाबाजार के अनुसार धनबाद से कोयला लेकर अयोध्या आ रही मालगाड़ी के आठ डिब्बे अलनाभारी रेलवे स्टेशन पार करते ही पटरी से उतर गए। बताते हैं कि मालगाड़ी के पीछे का एक डिब्बा उतरते ही भयंकर आवाज के साथ एक-एक करके आठ डिब्बे पटरी से उतर गए। हादसे की भीषण गूंज सुनते ही आस-पास के लोग मौके पर एकत्र हो गए। प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों की मानें तो डिब्बे जमीन से रगड़ते हुए खींचते चले गए, जिससे जमीन पर तीन से चार फिट तक गहरे गड्ढे हो गए। बेपटरी होने से बचे शेष डिब्बों को इंजन लगाकर अयोध्या ले जाया गया। दुर्घटना राहत यान लेकर पहुंचे रेलवे के संरक्षा एवं वाणिज्य विभाग के अधिकारियों ने ट्रेन को पटरी पर लाने का प्रयास शुरू कर दिया है। हादसे का कारण अभी स्पष्ट नहीं हो सका है। बताया जाता है कि मालगाड़ी का एक डिब्बा खाली था, जिसके चलते अचानक झटका लगने पर डिब्बा बेपटरी होने की बात भी सामने आई है लेकिन मौके पर मौजूद एक भी उच्चाधिकारी ने इसकी पुष्टि नहीं की। करीब दस घंटे बाद रेलवे यातयात सामान्य होने की संभावना व्यक्त की जा रही है। हादसे के चलते फरक्का एक्सप्रेस, दून एक्सप्रेस, कैफियत एक्सप्रेस, मथुरा-पटना एक्सप्रेस, किसान एक्सप्रेस, सूरत-मुजफ्फरपुर एक्सप्रेस फैजाबाद नहीं आ सकीं। साबरमती व सियालदाह एक्सप्रेस को वाया सुल्तानपुर फैजाबाद लाया गया। वाराणसी-लखनऊ पैसेंजर गोसाईगंज व लखनऊ-वाराणसी पैसेंजर फैजाबाद तक ही आ सकीं।

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today exuded confidence that the ambitious Lucknow Metro Rail project, to ease traffic and transportation problem of the state capital, would start in time.On the occasion of the release of 'Development Agenda of UP 2013-2014', the chief minister said, "After the Lucknow project, which is a priority of the state government, projects for other cities would be taken up."Yadav, who was presented the model of the proposed project, also said the funds for the extension of metro in Ghaziabad has been arranged.Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Planning department Sadakant said details of the project were being worked out diligently so that the first phase of the Rs 6,757 crore project could be started by the targeted date of December, 2013.All efforts are being made to obtain necessary approvals and financial sanction from the Centre, he said, adding that operations are expected to commence in December, 2016.A modified Detailed Project Report (DPR) had been approved by the high-powered committee headed by the Chief Secretary, Sadakant said.The constitution of the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) is underway with the memorandum and articles of the association having been prepared, he said.To expedite the work, an interim consultant is required to prepare detailed designs for which two specialist agencies -- RITES and DMRC -- have been asked to submit proposals, the Principal Secretary said, adding that the interim consultant would be selected by the end of this month.

DMRC is working on the depot design for north-south corridor of the first phase, he said.

The underground portion of the north-south corridor had been reduced from 7.5 km to approximately 3.5 km from Charbagh to Hazratganj, Sadakant said, adding that 22 stations are proposed in the first phase, out of which 3 stations are underground and 19 elevated.

An estimated 6.45 lakh passengers will use this corridor in the year 2020. The peak hour peak direction traffic (PHPDT) of this corridor is estimated to be 20,976 in 2020.

One rake would consist of six coaches with a passenger carrying capacity of 1,574. Initially, the train will run at an interval of 7 to 14 minutes but with the increase in traffic, the interval will be reduced to 2 to 4 minutes.

: Local MP and HJC (BL) supremo Kuldeep Bishnoi raised the demand for widening the railway overbridge (RoB) on Dabra Chowk here in the Lok Sabha. In a statement here, the MP said the proposal for four-laning the RoB on the Hisar-Sadalpur railway line had been pending with the Railway Ministry for a long time. He said the RoB was an important link on the Delhi-Sirsa road which was constructed in 1994. It had now become a major bottleneck due to increased traffic over the years.

Jammu-Udhampur railway traffic was once again disrupted due to landslide near tunnel-12 this morning. The authorities have cancelled morning DMU to repair the track; other trains are still running on the track.Heavy rainfall for an hour this afternoon once again led to landslide near tunnel-12 (T-12) on Jammu Udhampur rail track. As it was a minor landslide, the rail traffic was later restored after two hours, affecting two trains including the DMU. There was no report of any loss in the incident.Railway officials said due to continuous rain over the last three days, landslide struck near T-12, due to which Uttar Sampark Kranti was delayed by more than two hours.After restoration, other trains are running on time.RN Meena, Divisional Traffic Manager, Northern Railways, said, “The morning DMU from Udhampur to Jammu has been cancelled till further orders, because the restoration work is still on, but other trains are plying on the track at a slow speed.”Earlier too, due to overnight heavy rainfall for 48 hours, a major landslide occurred near tunnel-16 on August 7, and the engine of Malwa Express was stuck in the debris. The track took five days to be restored, on August 11. A landslide disrupted the train traffic again on August 13.The line is an important link for Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (JUSBRL) Project to connect Kashmir valley with the rest of the country. Construction of the line was the biggest project undertaken by the Indian Railways in the mountainous terrain which runs to some of the lofty mountain ranges of Pir Panjal and Himalayas.

सोनीपत से जींद वाया गोहाना नई रेलवे लाइन के निर्माण के लिए अधिग्रहण की गई भूमि के संबंध में उपायुक्त ने शनिवार को विकास सदन में अधिकारियों की बैठक ली। इस दौरान अधिग्रहण की गई भूमि में आने जाने के लिए रास्ता, पुल-पुलिया, खेतों में सिंचाई के लिए नाले व नालियों के निर्माण के संबंध में रेलवे अधिकारियों, ग्रामीणों व प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों ने बैठक में विचार- विमर्श किया।
इस दौरान विभिन्न गावों के लोगों द्वारा 21 शिकायतें रखी गई, जिसमें आने जाने के लिए रास्ता बनवाना, सिंचाई के लिए नाला बनवाने सहित कई प्रकार की बातें रखी गई है। दरअसल सोनीपत-जींद रेलवे लाइन गाव गुढ़ा, गोहाना, लाठ, बिधल, भैंसवाल, तिहाड़, पिनाना, मोहाना, नैना तैतारपुर, करेवड़ी, खिज्रपुर जट माजरा, हुल्लाहेड़ी, बड़वासनी, ईशापुर खेड़ी, बुटाना सहित कई गावों से होकर गुजरेगी। इसके लिए ग्रामीणों ने रास्ते बनवाने व सिंचाई के लिए नाले बनवाने सहित कई मांगें उपायुक्त के सामने रखी। इस मौके पर उपायुक्त डा.चंद्रशेखर ने ग्रामीणों से कहा कि हर संभव मदद दी जाएगी। राज्य सरकार की तरफ से सिंचाई के लिए नाला व रास्ता देने का पूरा-पूरा प्रयास किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि हर जगह से रास्ता देना संभव नहीं है। इसके लिए रेलवे लाइन के साथ-साथ रास्ता बनाया जाएगा। इसमें दो-तीन रास्तों को मिलाया जाएगा। हर जगह रेलवे फाटक बनाना संभव नहीं है। इसके लिए रेलवे लाइन के नीचे से रास्ता बनाने का कार्य कराया जाएगा। उन्होंने मौके पर मौजूद एसडीएम सोनीपत विरेंद्र लाठर व एसडीएम गोहाना विवेक चौधरी को नूरनखेड़ा व खंदराई गावों की जगहों का निरीक्षण करने के आदेश दिए। इस अवसर पर डीआरओ सुरेश कुमार, बीडीपीओ सोनीपत रामफल सिंह, बीडीपीओ खरखौदा जितेंद्र शर्मा सहित अन्य विभागों के अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।
