Bhubaneswar/Visakhapatnam: The much-awaited security makeover of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Visakhapatnam railway stations under East Coast Railway (ECoR) is likely to be commissioned by December, official sources said. Railways would spend Rs.1.9 crore for implementation of the proposed integrated security system, involving video surveillance, personal and baggage screening, access control and explosive detection.

“High frequency colour cameras with day and night vision will be installed to keep a hawk’s eye on movement of people on platforms, parking lots and surrounding areas,” said a senior railway protection force (RPF) officer.

For proper frisking of vehicles, there will be vehicle surveillance system with boom barriers and advanced vehicle scanners outside the station. “The system will be equipped to capture images of drivers and number plates of vehicles,” he said.

While the existing baggage scanner often gets defunct, the railways would put in place an advanced X-ray baggage scanner at the station. Besides, latest door frame metal detectors and hand-held ones would replace the old devices, sources said.

There will be provision of water cannon, gas cutters, bomb basket, bomb suit among others under the explosive detection and disposal system, sources said. “Those who will handle the integrated security system would be properly trained,” said the RPF officer.

The railways chalked out the proposed fool-proof security measures in the aftermath of the 2008 serial blasts in Mumbai.

बिलासपुर। जोन के 28 रेलवे स्टेशन नक्सलियों के निशाने पर हैं। रेलवे सुरक्षा बल ने खुफिया जानकारियों और नक्सलियों की सक्रियता के आधार पर इन स्टेशनों को संवेदनशील घोषित कर दिया है। इनकी सूची रेलवे बोर्ड के साथ ही राज्य शासन को भी भेजी गई है, ताकि समय रहते सुरक्षा मजबूत की जा सके। रायपुर, बिलासपुर व नागपुर डिवीजन के 28 रेलवे स्टेशनों पर नक्सलियों की चहलकदमी की खबर आरपीएफ को मिली है। बताया जा रहा है कि नक्सली इन स्टेशनों में आम लोगों को निशाना बना सकते हैं, लिहाजा आरपीएफ से लेकर स्थानीय पुलिस भी हाईअलर्ट पर है।
रेलवे सुरक्षा बल की रिपोर्ट से पता चला है कि नक्सली छत्तीसगढ़ व महाराष्ट्र की सीमा में सक्रिय हैं। नागपुर डिवीजन में सबसे अधिक 16 संवेदनशील स्टेशन हैं। बिलासपुर डिवीजन के 9 और रायपुर के 3 स्टेशन नक्सल गतिविधियों से प्रभावित हैं।
52 ब्रिज व टर्मिनल पर नजर
नक्सली आम लोगों की हत्या करने की मंशा से रेलवे ब्रिज व टर्मिनल (सुरंग) को भी निशाना बना सकते हैं। आरपीएफ ने जोन के ऐसे 52 रेलब्रिज व 227 मीटर लंबे टर्मिनल को संवेदनशील माना है।
ये हैं संवेदनशील स्टेशन
1. बिलासपुर डिवीजन: टेंगनमाड़ा, खोडऱी, खोंगसरा, बोरीडांड, उदलकछार, दर्रीटोला, नगर, जामगा एवं दगोरा।
2. रायपुर डिवीजन: बालोद, कुसुमकसा एवं दल्लीराजहरा।
3. नागपुर डिवीजन: गोंदिया, दारेकसा, सालेकसा, बोरतलाब, पनियाजॉब, डोंगरगढ़, राजनांदगांव, बालाघाट, सामनापुर, चारेगांव, लमता, देवालगांव, अर्जुनी, वाडसा, नागभीर एवं चांदाफोर्ट।

The proposal for introduction of pre-paid taxi service at Cuttack railway station seems to have gained wings with the Railway authorities agreeing to fast-track infrastructure development for it.The Railways has been entrusted with the responsibility of providing parking spaces and developing taxi bays at the entry and exit points of the railway station. Ticket counters for the prepaid service would also be set up with the support of the Railways. The issue was discussed with the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) in the High Court-appointed Traffic Management Committee meeting, chaired by Commissioner of Police Dr R P Sharma here.The committee had proposed launch of the  prepaid taxi service following the success of the prepaid auto rickshaw service at the Railway station. According to the assessment made by the committee, the service would start off with around 50 taxis in the initial phase.The objective is to provide hassle-free transport service, both intra-city and outside, to the people.A substantial chunk of the passengers, who alight at Cuttack station, are from neighbouring districts like Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara and Jajpur. The taxi service would be highly beneficial for them as they face problems in arranging onward transportation to their destinations.  Along with development of infrastructure, the committee will also get down to formulating the fare structure for the taxis. The fares would be decided by the Transport department officials in consultation with the committee.

The process will go underway soon. Though no immediate timeline has been fixed, the target is to launch the prepaid taxi service by the end of this year, sources said.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has decided to take up the issue of the attack on an American woman, Michelle Marks, 28, on a local train on Sunday between Marine Lines and Charni Road stations. A drug addict allegedly attacked Marks with a blade while trying to snatch her iPhone.

“Even though Marks escaped with minor injuries, the incident in itself is serious in nature. We are concerned about the safety of millions of women who commute on local trains,’’ said commission member Nirmala Samant-Prabhavalkar.

“I plan to meet the victim soon and get a first-hand report of the incident. I spoke to Prabhat Kumar, chief of Government Railway Police (GRP), Mumbai, and have asked him to submit a report to the commission immediately.”

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Railway Pravasi Sangh has slammed the railway ministry for its failure to ensure passenger safety. Sangh president Madhu Kotian said, “It’s a disgrace that the ministry, which gets a revenue of Rs1,800 crore annually from Mumbai’s suburban railway, does not deem it necessary to provide for security. Every time an incident takes place, it claims that there is a paucity of police personnel.’’

Kotian said the Railway Protection Force (RPF) claimed that they are tasked with only protecting railway property.

“The GRP, which comes under the state government, has completely failed in its task,’’ said a daily commuter, Chandresh Dani.

15097 अप भागलपुर-जम्मूतवी अमरनाथ एक्सप्रेस गुरुवार की रात 8.30 बजे भागलपुर के प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर एक से जम्मू के लिए रवाना हुई। पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री व भागलपुर के सांसद सैयद शाहनवाज हुसैन और बिहार के पूर्व स्वास्थ्य मंत्री व सदर विधायक अश्रि्वनी कुमार चौबे ने ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाई। इस दौरान विधान पार्षद मनोज यादव व मालदा रेल मंडल के डीआरएम रवींद्र गुप्ता भी मौजूद थे। उद्घाटन समारोह के कारण गुरुवार को ट्रेन अपने निर्धारित समय से तीन घंटा 20 मिनट पहले रवाना हुई। 29 अगस्त से अमरनाथ एक्सप्रेस प्रत्येक गुरुवार को अपने तय समय रात 11.50 बजे भागलपुर से चलेगी।शाहनवाज ने कहा, जम्मू से भागलपुर को जोड़ने का काम पूरा हो गया है। जम्मू स्टेशन में भागलपुर का नाम भी दर्ज हो गया है। 24 कोच की इस ट्रेन के चलने से भागलपुर के लोग सीधे वैष्णो देवी के दर्शन को जा सकेंगे। इसके पहले यहां के लोगों को वाया दिल्ली वैष्णो देवी के दर्शन के जाना पड़ता था। उन्होंने कहा, इस ट्रेन से भागलपुर के लोग छपरा, सिवान, गोरखपुर, लखनऊ भी सीधे जा सकते हैं। यहां के लोगों का जुड़ाव इन जगहों से है। लोग गोरखनाथ के दर्शन को भी जा सकेंगे।

सांसद ने कहा, जिस समय अजमेर के लिए ट्रेन चली थी, उसी समय जम्मू के लिए ट्रेन चलाने की मांग भागलपुर की जनता ने की थी। उनकी मांग पूरी कर दी गई है। डीआरएम रवींद्र गुप्ता की तारीफ करते हुए उन्होंने कहा, वर्तमान समय में भागलपुर स्टेशन की तस्वीर बदल गई है। यहां सुविधाओं का विस्तार हुआ है।

पूर्व स्वास्थ्य मंत्री ने कहा, अभी अमरनाथ एक्सप्रेस साप्ताहिक है। अगली सरकार भाजपा की बनेगी, तब यह ट्रेन प्रतिदिन चलेगी। उन्होंने कहा, भागलपुर में डीआरएम कार्यालय भी बनेगा। उसके लिए संघर्ष किया जाएगा। उन्होंने रेलवे को भागलपुर के लोगों के साथ भेदभाव नहीं करने की अपील की। उन्होंने कहा, जितनी भी बोगियां खराब रहती हैं उन्हें मालदा रेल मंडल को सौंप दिया जाता है। ऐसा नहीं होना चाहिए। जनता को होने वाले कष्ट बर्दाश्त नहीं किया जाएगा।

विधान पार्षद मनोज यादव ने बांका से नई दिल्ली के बीच ट्रेन चलाने व बांका-राजेंद्रनगर इंटरसिटी में एसी टू लगाने की मांग डीआरएम से की। डीआरएम रवींद्र गुप्ता ने कहा, भागलपुर से चलने वाली गाड़ियों की संख्या में लगातार बढ़ोतरी हो रही है। मालदा रेल मंडल का भागलपुर पर विशेष ध्यान है। संसाधनों की कमी के बावजूद सुविधाओं में लगातार बढ़ोतरी की जा रही है। उन्होंने कहा, सांसद शाहनवाज हुसैन के प्रयास से भागलपुर से अमरनाथ एक्सप्रेस की सेवा शुरू हो सकी है। यह ट्रेन 1790 किलोमीटर की दूरी 37 घंटों में तय करेगी। इस दौरान कार्यक्रम में धन्यवाद ज्ञापन वरीय डीसीएम ने किया।

Patna: East Central Railway on Friday said the Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge will be completed by March 2015. Chief public relations officer, East Central Railway, Amitabh Prabhakar said of 36 spans, 21 have been completed and works on 22nd and 23rd spans was in progress. Prabhakar said the East Central Railway was working hardto complete the work in the stipulated time frame.

ALLAHABAD: A review meeting regarding the various ongoing projects of the North Central Railway was organised at NCR headquarters in Subedarganj on Friday.

Addressing the meeting, general manager of NCR Alok Johri observed that the progress of the ongoing projects compared to last year is better but there is need for accelerating the pace to complete the projects within the stipulated time frame work.

He laid stress on acceleration in implementing the ongoing work of automatic signalling of Allahabad-Mughalsarai and Aligarh-Ghaziabad sections. He also advised for preparing the plan for decongestion of station yard of Allahabad and Agra. Further, there is need for improvement in works relating to the stations of Subedarganj, Cheoki, Eidgah and Agra Fort stations, he said.

He also observed that works related to safety at the level crossings should be conducted on a priority basis and work on construction of 25 ROBs (Railway Overbridges) and 75 limited height subways should also be completed in this financial year.

He said, "The officers should undertake steps for the safety and security of the staff deputed at the work field. Better co-ordination between the different departments is also needed."

Participating in the meeting, principal chief engineer Satish Kumar instructed for preparation of the engineering scale plan for the projects of the next year.

Before start of the meeting, principal chief engineer Satish Kumar welcomed the general manager Alok Johri. During the meeting, works relating to construction department, IRPMU and open line were also discussed. During the meeting, all heads of departments, divisional railway managers of Allahabad, Agra and Jhansi divisions were present.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd., (IRCTC) is flagging off its first Charter Train from Kerala.

This unique train is departing from Trivandrum on September 13 via Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Shoranur, Erode and Chennai to facilitate tourists to board at these stations.

The charter train is scheduled to operate in two segments Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh (Shimla – Kullu - Manali). These packages also cover tourist’s destinations like Agra – Delhi and Amritsar in the tour.

IRCTC has opened its avenues in Rail-based tourism to upgrade the services.
