इंदौर से भोपाल के बीच समर स्पेशल के रूप में दस कोच की नॉन-स्टॉप ट्रेन चलायी जानी थी | 285 किलोमीटर की दूरी लगभग साढ़े तीन घंटे में पूरी करना भी तय हो गया था | इसे चलाए जाने को लेकर टाइम - टेबल कमेटी की 22 -23 फरवरी को हुयी बैठक में भी मंजूरी मिल गयी थी | गर्मी का मौसम समाप्ति की ओर है, लेकिन ये ट्रेन अब तक नहीं चल सकी है | 
इंदौर से भोपाल के बीच चलायी जाने वाली समर स्पेशल नॉन-स्टॉप ट्रेन को पॉयलट प्रोजेक्ट के तौर पर चलाया जाना है | इसमें सभी कोच सामान्य श्रेणी के रखे जाना तय किया गया था | इस ट्रेन को अच्छा प्रतिसाद मिलने पर इसे नियमित करना तक किया गया था, लेकिन रेल प्रशासन इस ट्रेन को अब तक चला ही नहीं पाया | वर्तमान में इंदौर से भोपाल रूठे पर कुल 17 ट्रेनों का संचालन किया जा रहा है, जिसमे नौ साप्ताहिक, छह नियमित और दो त्रिसाप्ताहिक हैं | इनमे से सबसे कम समय तीन घंटे 55 मिनट में 22191 इंदौर - जबलपुर ओवरनाइट ट्रेन भोपाल पहुँचती हैं | समर स्पेशल यदि चल जाती तो इससे भी कम समय में इंदौर से भोपाल की दूरी तय की जा सकती थी |

आनंदविहार से गोरखपुर जाने वाली ट्रेन हमसफ़र एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन प्रीमियम किराया देने के बाद भी यात्रियों को पैसेंजर ट्रेन जैसा सफर करा रही है | कागजों पर हमसफर एक्सप्रेस को आनंद विहार से लखनऊ तक का सफर तय करने में सात घंटे 35 मिनट लगने चाहिए | परन्तु ये ट्रेन 21  से 22  घंटे में ये सफर पूरा कर रही है | 30 अप्रैल को हम सफर एक्सप्रेस करीब 12 घंटे की देरी से लखनऊ पहुंची थी। 
शुरू होने के बाद से ही यात्रियों के लिए हमसफर का ट्रेन मुसीबतों भरा रहा | शायद ही कभी ये ट्रेन सही समय पर लखनऊ पहुंची हो। ये ट्रेन औसतन करीब 7 घंटे देरी से ही रहती है |  अभी हाल ही में रेलवे ने कटिहार से आनंदविहार वाया लखनऊ चंपारन हमसफर एक्सप्रेस का संचालन किया है। चंपारन एक्सप्रेस का संचालन उद्घाटन के बाद से ही पटरी से उतर गया है। शुक्रवार को कटिहार ये ट्रेन 18 घंटे देरी से लखनऊ पहुंची है जबकि 1 मई को 9 घंटे देरी से आई थी।

Railway has changed terminal station for train number  12815/12816 Puri-New Delhi - Puri Nandankanan Express and train number 12875 / 12876 Puri-New Delhi-Puri Neelachal Express to Anand Vihar Terminal station effective from May 21.


Train number 12815 Puri - New Delhi Nandankanan Express starting from Puri with effect from May 21 onwards will go to Anand Vihar Terminal instead of New Delhi Station and similarly train number 12816 New Delhi-Puri Nandankanan Express from New Delhi will originate from Anand Vihar Terminal instead of New Delhi Station with effect from May 23.


Train number 12875 Puri - New Delhi Neelachal Express starting from Puri with effect from May 22 will go to Anand Vihar Terminalinstead of New Delhi Station and similarly train number 12876 New Delhi-Puri Neelachal Express from New Delhi will originate from Anand Vihar Terminal instead of New Delhi Station with effect from May 25.

To facilitate engineering works between Melpatti – Pachchakuppam railway stations in Arakkonam – Jolarpettai section Southern Railway has immposed line block over the section on May 24. This will affect the following as detailed below -


22888 Yesvantpur – Howrah Humsafar express will be regulated for 1 hour and 10 minutes at Ambur.

22626 Bengaluru – Chennai Central Double Decker express will be regulated for 30 minutes at Ambur.

12640 Bengaluru – Chennai Central Brindavan express will be regulated for 10 minutes at Vinnamangalam.

12246 Yesvantpur – Howrah Duronto express will be regulated for 45 minutes at Vinnamangalam.

17209 Bengaluru – Kakinada Town Seshadri express will be regulated for 15 minutes at Vaniyambadi.

Southern Railway has now enabled all stations to use paperless / UTS tickets through Mobile App over its jurisdiction. Railway has got positive response from travellers for the the facility. On an average, 3% of total unreserved passengers book tickets through mobile App. The user can quickly book tickets using the APP and can travel by showing the ticket in the mobile itself. Payment mode has also been made flexible by providing payment options like R-Wallet, Credit or debit cards.

To promote UTS based ticketing, an additional bonus of 5% will be extended to all the mobile booking customers when they recharge their R wallet. For instance, if a passenger recharges his R wallet for Rs.1000/-, his wallet will be credited with Rs.1050/- and he can book tickets for value upto Rs.1050/-.
