Wellington, Aug. 30 (ANI): Japan is reportedly planning to resume trial runs for the world's fastest magnetic-levitation train that will travel double the speed of the current bullet trains.

Central Japan Railway has planned to begin work on the 65.6 billion dollars maglev line, which will use magnetic power to propel trains between Tokyo and Nagoya, in April next year, Stuff.co.nz reports.

The company has spent five years to build a 24-kilometre extension track on which the trains can run at a speed of 500 kms per hour, almost double the 270 km per hour speed of current bullet trains, the report added.

The maglevs will take passengers to Nagoya from Tokyo in 40 minutes on the 286-kilometre journey, the report added.

Meanwhile, it is being speculated that Japan's population will reduce to 117 million by 2027 and if the population projections are correct, then the use of the bullet train will go down.

However, the project is unlikely to be completed on time as the company is facing challenges, like tunneling under Tokyo's skyscrapers and Japanese Alps as well as high construction cost.

JR Central's officials said that they will use cash flow along with loans and bonds to fund the project and won't depend on government financing. (ANI)

A jumbo block will be taken from 00.50 hrs to 04.50 hrs in the night o­n Sunday, 1/09/2013 o­n Up and Dn Local (i.e. slow) lines between Borivali and Bhyandar for maintenance of track, signalling and overhead equipments.During the block, all Up and Dn trains will be run o­n Through (i.e. fast) lines from Virar/Vasai Road to Borivali in up direction and Goregaon to Vasai Road/Virar in down direction. Detailed information to this effect is available with concerned Station Masters. Passengers are requested to take note of the above arrangements.

The Railway Ministry has approved a tri-weekly express train between Bidar and Yeshwantpur. The train will leave Bidar at 6.25 p.m. and reach Bangalore at 7.40 a.m. the next day. It will leave Bangalore at 7.15 p.m. and reach Bidar at 9.30 a.m. The train will stop at Zaheerabad, Vikharabad, Sedam, Malkhed Road, Chittapur, Yadgir, Raichur, Nalwar, Narayanpet Road, Mantralayam Road, Guntakal Junction, Dharmavaram Junction, Hindupur, Gouribidanur and Yalahanka. Officials of the South Central and South Western Railway Zone jointly prepared the timetable, said a release.

भोपाल. रेल रिजर्वेशन करवाते वक्त यदि अब आप फॉर्म में गलत पता भरते हैं तो टिकट कैंसिल हो जाएगा। इसके लिए रेलवे बोर्ड ने कमर्शियल विभाग को निर्देश जारी कर दिए हैं। सभी जोन को भेजे गए निर्देश में कहा गया है कि यदि यात्री इस कैंसिल टिकट पर यात्रा करते मिलता है तो उससे जुर्माना भी वसूला जाए।

रेलवे के मुख्य जनसंपर्क अधिकारी पीयूष माथुर का कहना है कि इस व्यवस्था के लिए कुछ कर्मचारियों की अलग से रिजर्वेशन ऑफिस में ड्यूटी लगाई जाएगी। वे रिजर्वेशन फॉर्म पर लिखे गए फोन या मोबाइल फोन नंबरों पर अचानक बात कर पता वेरिफाई करेंगे। यदि संबंधित यात्री या उनके परिजन आदि फोन रिसीव न करें या फिर रिजर्वेशन संबंधी जानकारी नहीं दे पाते हैं तो टिकट कैंसिल कर दिया जाएगा। रेलवे ने यह व्यवस्था फॉर्म पर गलत पता व फोन नंबर भरने के कारण दुर्घटना जैसी स्थिति में परेशानी से बचने के लिए की है।

कई यात्री रिजर्वेशन करवाते वक्त गलत पता व फोन नंबर फॉर्म में भर देते हैं। इससे दुर्घटना या विपरीत परिस्थितियों में यात्रियों का पता लगाने में रेलवे को मुश्किल का सामना करना पड़ता है।

दोगुना देना होगा किराया

रेलवे के मुताबिक यदि पता गलत मिला तो यात्री का रिजर्व टिकट कैंसिल माना जाएगा। इसके बाद  भी यदि वह कंफर्म रिजर्वेशन टिकट पर यात्रा करता है तो उससे गंतव्य स्टेशन तक का किराया मय जुर्माने के वसूला जाएगा।

But this is where art copies real life, where a Keikyu Line railway employee in Yokohama handed out a sublime judo move to a troublemaking passenger earlier this week. The passenger allegedly punched the female railway employee at Yokohama Station, and so the employee flipped him over with a perfectly executed judo throw, this reported by the Kanagawa Prefectural Police.The violent commuter was Hiroshi Ebina, 34, an unemployed Yokohama man, who reportedly hit the 21-year-old female railway employee in the face multiple times. The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Monday when the train attendant tried to stop Ebina at the ticket gate as he tried to transfer from an East Japan Railway train to the Keikyu Line without paying the full fare from Nakano to Yokohama. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting Ebina, the train attendant has a black belt in judo, and purposefully flipped him over her shoulders and pinned him as other staff rushed on to the scene to help her. The female train attendant said later that she had learned the judo flip move in high school.

Ebina was arrested on the spot, but denied punching the attendant. “I only knocked off her cap,” he said. The police had investigated the incident and found out that Ebina boarded the JR Sobu Line at Higashi-Nakano Station in Nakano Ward, Tokyo, with a ¥160 (approx. $1.60) ticket. He knew his fare was short but he still attempted to switch to the Keikyu Line at Yokohama Station where the judo flipping happened. Aside from the obvious lesson of not underestimating anyone just because he or she works as a train station attendant, we think that the better summation of this story would be for people to get a job so that they can afford train fares. As Ebina was unemployed, he felt he could get away with not paying the full fare, and he got a real smackdown for his troubles. So we say – go get a job.

Dhamara (Khagaria): Bhojpuri singer Sunil Chhaila Bihari’s hunger strike, it seems, was not in vain. The railways on Wednesday gave in to some of the artiste’s demand paving the way for the safety of travellers.

The railways would upgrade the Dhamara Ghat railway station soon. Under the scheme, platform number one would be revamped and expanded to 450m, while another one would be constructed. In absence of power, solar-powered lights would be arranged to complete fencing work. A public address system has also been installed to warn travellers about the arrival and departure of trains. In the pipeline are a small passenger shed and a foot overbridge.

“We are working to fulfill the demands of those sitting on the hunger strike. We would construct two platforms, fencing would be done, solar lights would be installed. We would also build a small passenger shed. If required, we would consider constructing a rake point (rake goods shed),” said the senior divisional commercial manager of Samastipur rail division of East Central Railway, M.A. Humayun.

The railway official said: “We have not received any file from the state government demanding a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the construction of road and river bridge between Badla Ghat railway station in Khagaria and Kopadia railway station in Saharsa district. If we do get such an application demanding, we would consider it.”

The Bhojpuri singer on fast is not yielding yet. He said: “I am under medical supervision as my health has gradually deteriorated. A team of government doctors advised me to consume saline water. I refuse to eat anything till our demand of the road is met.”  He says that the victims killed in the accident are poor and innocent villagers.  Many passengers come to Dhamara Ghat to visit Katyayini Maayi temple.  However neither the Railways nor the State Government considered any facilities in Dhamara which led to gruesome accident recently that killed 40 people, most of them women and children.

The artiste, who shot to fame with his Pyar ke Bukhar album in 1996, said he would continue his hunger strike. He had launched his protest at the site of the Dhamara Ghat tragedy, last week.

The state wing of the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party is also extending its support to the singer. Eight members, including Mithlanchal in-charge Victor Jha, are also accompanying him in his protest.

Jha said: “We would continue our hunger strike till the state government lays the foundation stone for a road between Kopadia and Badla Ghat railway stations. Dhamara Ghat railway station, about 181km northeast of Patna, lies on the stretch of Kopadia-Badla Ghat section of railway.”

He added: “Two days earlier, Khagaria deputy development commissioner Suresh Chaudhary met us demanding an end to the strike saying the government has prepared a detailed project report for construction of road and river bridge between Kopadia and Badla Ghat railway stations.”

Announcement of introduction of the new Thanjavur – Chennai Express evoked an overwhelming response from commuters of the delta districts with all 438 berths, including 24 second AC and 35 third AC berths, available for travel on September 1 being sold out.
