LUCKNOW: Public agitations and disruption of rail traffic due to this causes huge loss of revenue to railways besides public inconvenience. In 2011, Firozpur Division alone had to bear a loss of Rs 2.6 crore approximately due to Jat agitation in Punjab and Jammu Kashmir states only.On Friday, railway has appealed to general public to refrain from agitations as it cause great inconvenience to the rail passengers and huge loss to the railways as well.Due to agitation over Delhi Division on August 25, the 14311 Bareilly-Bhuj Ala Hazrat Express and 12916 Delhi Jn.- Ahmedabad Ashram Express trains suffered detention for 222 minutes, 19566 Dehradun-Okha Uttaranchal Express for 98 minutes, 12986 Delhi Sarai Rohilla- Jaipur Double Decker Express was regulated for 80 minutes, 14369 Singrauli- Bareilly Triveni Express for 65 minutes, 22212 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Ajmer Duronto Express for 170 minutes and 22471 Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Intercity was regulated for 135 minutes and a number of passenger trains had to be short terminated or cancelled causing immense inconvenience to rail passengers.Similarly a group of about 40 ex. servicemen gathered near rail track between Butari and Beas stations on Firozpur Division on August 26 to raise their agitation for one rank one pension. As a result, 12029 New Delhi- Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express and 14650 Amritsar- Jayanagar Saru Yamuna Express suffered detention which caused great inconvenience to the rail passengers.

High Court has also issued the orders against these kinds of activities leading disruption to rail traffic which do not only cause inconvenience and hardships to the traveling public but also huge loss of revenue to the nation. According to the order, whoever is caught involved in such activities and damaging railway property will be severely punished.

It cleared projects with a total outlay of Rs 1.83 lakh crore ... Message that we are sending, we are very keen to get investment cycle restarted. The cycle has started and we are pushing it further," Chidambaram told reporters on Tuesday.The big projects cleared by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh headed CCI include Reliance Power's 4,000 MW ultra mega power project at Sasan in Madhya Pradesh, L&T's Metro Rail project, Hindalco IndustriesBSE -1.87 % project and Essar Power's Jharkhand project."In the Sasan project, Stage-I clearance or preliminary approvals have been given. When this is verified by the state of Madhya Pradesh and the promoter ( Reliance PowerBSE 0.82 %) deposits the money further, clearances will be given," Chidambaram said.Chidambaram said banks had already disbursed about Rs 30,000 crore for the power sector projects credit flow would begin once these projects start rolling.

"Disbursements would start as the approvals are being given. Clearly the signal is projects are not being stalled. Stalled projects have been un-blocked. What I say today, would be heard by banks also. The banks' chairmen waiting to disburse funds would do it now," Chidambaram said.

Chidambaram said that another nine projects worth Rs 14,084 crore in sectors such as petroleum, roads, railways and steel have been reviewed and there are no pending issues with them. Banks have disbursed Rs 1,484 crore to these projects.

The panel also extended the date for signing of fuel supply agreements between Coal India LtdBSE 0.22 % and power firms to September 6 from August 31.

On the issue of project delays because of land acquisition related issues, Chidambaram said the government will take up the land bill next. "After the Food Bill, the one listed is Land Bill. Now that the (Food) Bill is passed, the next item on the list will be Land Acquisition Bill."

नई दिल्‍ली। अगर आप शारदीय नवरात्रों में माता वैष्‍णो देवी के दर्शन करने के लिए ट्रेन के जरिए कटरा पहुंचने की योजना बना रहे हैं, तो भारतीय रेलवे आपका यह ख्‍वाब पूरा नहीं कर सकेगा। उत्‍तर रेलवे द्वारा ऊधमपुर-कटरा रेल सेक्‍शन को इस नवरात्र से चालू करने की घोषणा के बावजूद तय समय पर इसे शुरू नहीं किया जा सका है। इसकी वजह खंड पर चल रहे काम की रफ्तार भी रेलवे की तरह ‘धीमी’ होना है।

इस सेक्‍शन पर काम में हो रही देरी की वजह टनल नंबर-3 में हो रहा जल रिसाव बताया जा रहा है। पानी के रिसाव के चलते टनल में खुदाई के काम में बाधा आ रही थी। इतना ही नहीं खुदाई का काम तो पूरा कर लिया गया, लेकिन टनल में पानी की रिसाव नहीं रूका है। बीतों दिनों हुई बारिश के वजह से भी काफी समस्‍या बढ़ी। रेलवे का कहना है कि इस टनल में प्रति सेकेंड 18 सौ लीटर तक पानी का रिसाव हो रहा है, जिससे टनल के ऊपर से पहाड़ की मिट्टी भी निकल रही है।

रेलवे का कहना है कि पानी का रिसाव होने से टनल को होने वाले नुकसान को रोकने के लिए रेलवे ने ग्राउटिंग का काम शुरू कराया है,  लेकिन भारी बारिश से यह काम भी प्रभावित हो रहा है। किसी खोखले हुए पहाड़ के भीतर खाली जगह में कंक्रीट भर कर उसे ठोस करने की प्रक्रिया को ग्राउटिंग कहा जाता है।

अभी तक पूरा नहीं हो सका ट्रैक बिछाने का काम

3.15 किलोमीटर लंबी टनल नंबर एक में अभी तक 16 सौ मीटर बीएलटी बिछाने का काम बचा हुआ है। टनल नंबर तीन में बीएलटी (ब्लास्ट लेस ट्रैक) बिछाने का काम ही पूरा हो सका है। टनल एक में बीएलटी बिछाने का काम पूरा करने में अभी एक माह का समय लगेगा। बीएलटी में ट्रैक के नीचे गिट्टी नहीं बिछाई जाती है।

सबसे ऊंचे पुल में भी आ रही है परेशानी

ऊधमपुर-कटड़ा रेल सेक्‍शन पर सबसे ऊंचे पुल की ऊंचाई लगभग 85 मीटर है। इसका निर्माण तो पूरा कर लिया गया है, लेकिन इसका गार्डर टेढ़ा हो गया है। इसे सीधा करना भी इंजीनियरों के लिए चुनौती है।

बरसात व खराब हालत से भी हुआ निर्माण कार्य प्रभावित

पहले रामबन में फायरिंग तथा उसके बाद किश्तवाड़ में सांप्रदायिक दंगे के बाद जम्मू कश्मीर में कई दिनों तक कर्फ्यू लगने से मजदूरों के पलायन व बारिश की वजह से निर्माण स्थल तक निर्माण सामग्री पहुंचाने में दिक्कत हो रही है, जिससे निर्माण कार्य की गति काफी धीमी हो गई है।

निर्माण कार्य पूरा होने के बाद भी होती हैं कई औपचारिकताएं

जब निर्माण कार्य पूरा हो जाता है तो उस सेक्शन पर पहले इंजन रन ट्रायल फिर कमिश्नर रेलवे सेफ्टी (सीआरएस) का इंस्पेक्शन होगा। सब कुछ ठीक रहने के बाद सीआरएस से अनुमति मिलेगी। फिर कहीं जाकर इस सेक्शन पर रेल चलेगी। यह पूरी प्रक्रिया रातों रात पूरी नहीं होगी,  इसमें भी कुछ वक्त लगेगा। जबकि नवरात्र पांच अक्टूबर से शुरू हो रही हैं।

PUNE: Railway commuters’ groups in the city are rattled by the lack of security on the premises of the Pune railway station after the Central Railway (Pune Division) authorities found at least 20 empty purses and clothes kept in the false ceiling space on the Platform Number 1.

According to them, more dangerous material can be stored here without drawing much attention. They sought better security measures to prevent illegal entry on the premises.

Some panels of the false ceiling were dangling on Tuesday evening and the authorities were looking for reasons. They found that the metal grid supporting the panels had been stolen. This led to the dislocation of the panels, railway authorities said.

“We cannot see any other technical fault in the false ceiling. The panels must have got dislodged after the rods and screws were removed by thieves and sold,” a railway administration official said.

Harsha Shah of Railway Pravasi Group said the railway administration must step up security on the platforms and especially at the exit and entry gates to curb instances of theft. “Unauthorized points used to gain enter on the station’s premises must be closed. More than 150 trains are operated every day from the station and passengers should feel safe. There should be timely checks of passenger amenities,” she added.

The dislodged panels were located near the foot overbridge. Thieves would have crawled into the space from the gap near the escalator that opens to the foot overbridge and dumped the empty purses and clothes, the official said.

The false ceiling was fixed for beautification of the railway station. It has been removed now as a precautionary measure. Other places on the premises with false ceilings are being checked. The station has many unwanted elements involved in thefts and illegal activities, railway authorities said. They use the facilities on the platforms and in the circulating areas and come back even though the administration frequently drives them away.

Abhay Parmar of the Government Railway Police (GRP) said they have been asked to act against people creating a nuisance on the premises. Special attention is being given to spots that allow illegal entry to the station.

Dinu Joshi, a regular traveller, said, “Getting into the station’s premises is easy. Presence of thieves and ticketless travelers can be restricted if the administration and police maintain continuous vigil on the premises. Many beggars are in the circulating area of the station.”

Ramesh Rahane, who travels by the Lonavla-bound local train, said all platforms need security. Police presence is sparse and should be increased during rush hours, he added.

Announcement of introduction of the new Thanjavur – Chennai Express evoked an overwhelming response from commuters of the delta districts with all 438 berths, including 24 second AC and 35 third AC berths, available for travel on September 1 being sold out.

Similarly, all tickets have already been booked in train number 16183 Chennai Egmore – Thanjavur Express for travel on September 6 and 7 and the Thanjavur–Chennai Express (16184) for travel on September 8 and 9. The new train in both the directions will have in all 758 berths.
