LUCKNOW: Public agitations and disruption of rail traffic due to this causes huge loss of revenue to railways besides public inconvenience. In 2011, Firozpur Division alone had to bear a loss of Rs 2.6 crore approximately due to Jat agitation in Punjab and Jammu Kashmir states only.On Friday, railway has appealed to general public to refrain from agitations as it cause great inconvenience to the rail passengers and huge loss to the railways as well.Due to agitation over Delhi Division on August 25, the 14311 Bareilly-Bhuj Ala Hazrat Express and 12916 Delhi Jn.- Ahmedabad Ashram Express trains suffered detention for 222 minutes, 19566 Dehradun-Okha Uttaranchal Express for 98 minutes, 12986 Delhi Sarai Rohilla- Jaipur Double Decker Express was regulated for 80 minutes, 14369 Singrauli- Bareilly Triveni Express for 65 minutes, 22212 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Ajmer Duronto Express for 170 minutes and 22471 Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Intercity was regulated for 135 minutes and a number of passenger trains had to be short terminated or cancelled causing immense inconvenience to rail passengers.Similarly a group of about 40 ex. servicemen gathered near rail track between Butari and Beas stations on Firozpur Division on August 26 to raise their agitation for one rank one pension. As a result, 12029 New Delhi- Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express and 14650 Amritsar- Jayanagar Saru Yamuna Express suffered detention which caused great inconvenience to the rail passengers. |
