The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Ambala division today conducted a surprise inspection of the Chandigarh police post to monitor the arrangements made for the security of passengers.During the inspection, Railway Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Mohinder Singh also checked the registers maintained for complaints made by the railway employees.He said that during the inspection, minor shortcomings were detected, which would be rectified by the staff as per the directions given to them. He said that it was an annual practice of the RPF to conduct such inspections to monitor the performance of the staff deployed for the security of the passengers.

Ludhiana:
The patience of hundreds of passengers was put to test after activists of railway unions blocked traffic under the Jagraon bridge for more than two hours today.The activists alleged that the Railway Hospital failed provide timely treatment to an injured employee due to which his foot had to be amputated.In a joint action, activists of the Northern Railway Men's Union and Uttariya Railway Mazdoor Union sat on the railway tracks under the Jagraon bridge from 11.30 am to 2.00 pm and blocked the rail traffic. The activists were demanding an apology from a doctor and the divisional traffic manager.A railway employee, Chhote Lal, was injured after he fell off an engine last night. He was rushed to the Railway Hospital, but had to be referred to the CMCH due to the lack of specialised facilities in the hospital.General secretary, NRMU, Ferozepur division, Daljit said there was no ambulance to rush the injured to the hospital. Doctors at the Railway Hospital referred Chhote Lal to the CMCH.“As there is no collaboration between the Railways and the CMCH, we had to deposit money from our pocket for the treatment. It is not justified. When an employee meets with an accident, it is the responsibility of the Railways to foot the bills,” said Daljit.S Prashar, general secretary of the URMU, said: “The doctor on duty and the divisional traffic manager did not show any concern for the injured employee.”

Meanwhile, the divisional railway manger has sectioned Rs 75,000 for Chhote Lal’s treatment.

The blockade disturbed the schedule of many trains. The Pathankot-Delhi train was delayed by 2.30 hours, Dadar Express by 2.35 hours, Delhi-Moga Sathabadi by 1.25 hours and Shan-e-Punjab by 2 hours.

PASSENGERS HARASSED
The passengers who were stuck at the railway station were seen arguing with the union leaders and the police. But the police seemed helpless. Rajiv Kumar, a resident of Panipat, said: “I am going to Amritsar to attend a function, but it will be over by the time I reach there.”
Yashwant Singh, in charge, Government Railway Police, said: “There is a provision in the railway law for taking action against persons who block the railway tracks. But in case of trade unions, we act only on the directions of our seniors.”

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Railways flagged off a new          Train No. 16572 Bidar-Yesvantpur Express (Tri-weekly) at a function held at Bidar Railway Station today ie.,  1st September, 2013. Dr. N. Dharam Singh, Hon’ble Ex. Chief Minister of Karnataka & Member of Parliament; Smt. Umashree, Hon’ble Minister for Women and Child Development, Kannada and Cultural Department and District Incharge Minster and a host of other ministers, MLAs, MLCs, other public representatives, dignitaries and senior Railway officials were present o­n the occasion.

Addressing a huge gathering o­n the occasion, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Railways stated that this new train is a very essential link between north Karnataka region and capital city of Karnataka. It was introduced by according top priority as it would provide a comfortable travelling facility for the people of north Karnataka towards Bangalore. He said, Indian Railways is committed to develop Railway infrastructure across various regions of the country to meet public demands. He also said that the sanctioned Railway projects in Karnataka will be given due priority for their early completion, with the active co-operation / cost sharing from the Government of Karnataka, including Bidar-Gulbarga new railway line project.

Shri Dharam Singh in his address said that Shri Mallikarjun Kharge’s initiative to provide much awaited overnight train service to Bangalore is highly appreciative. He also said that it was a long cherished dream of Bidar region, as at present there is no convenient train to Bangalore. Earlier Shri A.K. Mital, General Manager, South Central Railway welcomed the gathering and detailed o­n developmental works taken up by SCR. Shri S.K.Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division proposed vote of thanks.



On its regular run, Train No.16572 Bidar-Yesvantpur Tri-weekly Express will depart Bidar at 18:25 hrs o­n  Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and arrive Yesvanatpur  at 07:40 hrs o­n the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 16571 Yesvantpur-Bidar Tri-weekly Express will depart at Yesvantur at 19:15 hrs  o­n Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and arrive Bidar at 09:30 hrs o­n the next day.


The composition of the train : o­ne AC III tier; o­ne AC II tier; o­ne AC First cum III tier; five General Second Class;  six  Sleeper Class and two Second Class Luggage cum Brake Van coaches, totaling to 16 Coaches. Enroute, this  train will stop at Zaheerabad, Vikarabad, Seram, Malkhaid Road, Chittapur, Nalwar, Yadgir, Narayanpet Road, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Guntakal, Dharmavarm, Hindupur, Gauribidanur and Yelahanka stations.

Amritsar:A large number of city residents are peeved at the closure of current ticket windows for the past many months in the city. They have to stand in long queues at the railway station for the same.The authorised current railway ticket windows, outsourced to private individuals by the Railways, had been operational in different parts of the city for the past many years. These ticket centres were extremely popular for easy availability of tickets and their locations on main roads.These current ticket window centres were opened up at Katra Bhai Sant Singh Chowk inside the walled city, outside Durgiana Temple, Puttalighar Chowk and at the Railway link road.Niranjan Singh, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar, said current ticket window centre at Puttalighar was a boon for the city residents on the western side. They escaped standing in long serpentine queues at the railway station and saved precious time and managed to catch the train on time.Surjit Singh of Katra Karam Singh area recalled, “One fine day he had to catch a train to Ludhiana in the morning but found the ticket centre at Katra Bhai Sant Singh Chowk closed. A little before the departure of train he reached the current ticket window booking area at the railway station. To my utter surprise I found all long queues and got the ticket after an hour.” Surjit saved the day by catching the next train to reach his destination.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Upjeet Singh, stationed at Ferozepur division of the Northern Railway, said advertisement to hire authorised agents called Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sewak (JTBS) had been publicised. He said numerous interested persons had applied for the same. He said technical scrutiny of these applications was underway and a committee of the Railways would monitor and study their cases to select the deserving ones. The process would be finished and the ticket windows would be operational within a month and a half, he added.

JTBS is the person who sells unreserved railway tickets through computerised unreserved ticketing system (UTM). The objective of the JTBS is to shorten the long queues at ticket counters on the railway stations and to help passengers in getting tickets comfortably at a nearby place.

Normally, JTBS is entitled to charge Re 1 per ticket as commission from the passengers.

Railways will operate an Onam special train between Nagercoil and Mangalore Junction. A press release said here on Saturday that the train no. 06304 Nagercoil-Mangalore Junction special will leave Nagercoil at 8.35 pm on September 11 and 18, and reach Mangalore Junction at11.20 am the next day.In the return direction, the train no. 06303 Mangalore Junction-Nagercoil special will leave Mangalore Junction at 2.40 pm on September 12 and 19, and reach Nagercoil at 4.15 am the next day. The composition of the trains will be one AC 2-tier, three AC 3-tier, eight sleeper class, four general second class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

मंदारहिल-हंसडीहा रेलखंड पर कुमराडोल व पांडेय टोला के बीच डाढ़े हाल्ट का निर्माण होगा. इस पर 25 लाख रुपये की लागत आयेगी. यह राशि गोड्डा के सांसद निशिकांत दुबे अपने कोष से दे रहे हैं. सब कुछ ठीक-ठाक रहा तो निर्माण कार्य को लेकर सात सितंबर से फाउंडेशन का काम शुरू होगा और ढाई माह में हॉल्ट बन कर तैयार भी हो जायेगा. उक्त बातें डीआरएम रवींद्र कुमार गुप्ता ने स्थल निरीक्षण (डाढ़े हाल्ट के लिए) कर भागलपुर लौटने के बाद कही. उन्होंने बताया कि रेल नक्शा में इस हॉल्ट का निर्माण 60.4 किमी पर होना है, जो लोकेशन नहीं मिल रहा था. इसके लिए निरीक्षण करना अति आवश्यक मान कर पहुंचे और निर्णय लिया है कि 60.24-60.27 किमी के बीच हॉल्ट का निर्माण कराया जाये. रेलवे स्टेशन से बजरंग बली की प्रतिमा दूसरी जगह शिफ्ट करने की बात कही.

लखनऊ : रेलवे भर्ती बोर्ड, गोरखपुर द्वारा आयोजित टिकट कलेक्टर की परीक्षा में रविवार को सिर्फ 22 फीसद अभ्यर्थी ही पहुंचे। 71 परीक्षा केंद्रों पर कराई गई परीक्षा शांतिपूर्वक संपन्न हो गई। परीक्षा को संपन्न कराने के लिए 1500 अधिकारियों व कर्मियों की ड्यूटी लगाई गई थी। अब दूसरे चरण की परीक्षा के लिए अधिकारियों ने तैयारी शुरू कर दी है।

रेलवे भर्ती बोर्ड के चेयरमैन एच सिंह ने बताया कि रविवार को हुई दो पालियों की परीक्षा में सिर्फ 22 फीसद अभ्यर्थी ही आए। पहली पाली की परीक्षा सुबह 11 बजे से दोपहर 12.30 बजे तक हुई वहीं दूसरी पाली की परीक्षा दोपहर 3 बजे से शाम 4.30 बजे तक हुई। 131 पदों के लिए आयोजित हुई परीक्षा के लिए 5.77 लाख अभ्यर्थियों ने आवेदन किया था। परीक्षा को बेहतर तरीके से कराने के लिए चेयरमैन स्वयं एक-एक गतिविधियों पर पिछले एक महीने से तैयारी में लगे थे। लखनऊ में बने भर्ती बोर्ड कैंप कार्यालय में परीक्षा से तीन दिन पहले डुप्लीकेट प्रवेश पत्र वितरित करने की व्यवस्था की गई थी।

चेयरमैन ने बताया कि आगे की परीक्षाओं में भी डुप्लीकेट प्रवेश पत्र वितरित करने की व्यवस्था की गई जाएगी।

रेलवे ने खोले अतिरिक्त काउंटर व लगाए कोच

रेल प्रशासन ने अभ्यर्थियों की सुविधा के लिए चारबाग स्टेशन पर अनारक्षित श्रेणी के कई काउंटर खोले गए थे। इन काउंटरों को वाणिज्य अधिकारियों द्वारा सुबह से ही खोल दिए गए थे। उधर यात्रियों की भीड़ को देखते हुए चंडीगढ़ एक्सप्रेस में दो स्लीपर कोच, एक कंपोजिट क्लास (आधा सेकेंड व आधा थर्ड एसी), एसी एक्सप्रेस में एक सेकेंड एसी, दो थर्ड एसी और एक फ‌र्स्ट एसी कोच लगाया गया इसी तरह स्वर्ण शताब्दी में दो चेयर कार कोच लगाए गए।

Enraged by the arrest of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, his followers and supporters stopped several trains at Ulhasnagar's railway tracks in the neighbouring Thane district on Sunday, official sources said. Scores of Asaram Bapu supporters staged a rail roko at around 12.30 pm, delaying local trains between the Kalyan-Karjat section for over half-an-hour, they said. Asaram was arrested by the Jodhpur Police after midnight from his ashram in Indore. His arrest followed an FIR filed by a 16-year-old girl, alleging she was sexually assaulted by Asaram at his ashram in Jodhpur.

MUMBAI : 
The Mumbai Metro Rail project, scheduled to commence operations at the end of the year, is likely to be delayed. The project, which had an estimated cost of Rs 2,400 crore has run into rough weather because the operator, Reliance (ADAG) has asked for a hike in proposed fare on the grounds that project costs had gone up.Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, addressing a group of newspersons recently, said that Reliance (ADAG) had asked for two to three times the proposed minimum fare. The minimum fare was earlier expected to be Rs 6 to Rs 10. This is likely to go up to Rs 18 if the demands are accepted. Chavan said that the safety certification process by the Railway safety commissioner for the first metro line between Ghatkopar and Versova was underway.He also said that the proposed second metro line (Charkop to Mankurd via BKC) was being scrapped completely. Apparently, land for the project was not available and the environment ministry had also raised objections on the grounds that it would affect mangroves.Chavan suggested the need for arbitrators for transport projects, on the lines of what is being done for power projects.
