To curb the menace of touts in reservation offices and malpractices in other areas of mass contact o­n railways, Vigilance Department conducted Special Drives in all the Divisions of Southern Railway during the summer rush season of April and May 2018.

During the Drive, 15 touts were apprehended in various reservation offices and handed over to RPF.  72 unauthorised vendors in trains and stations were also apprehended and booked under section 144(1) of Railways Act by RPF.  Further, during the Drive, 156 trains were checked and 1672 cases of ticketless travel, 1076 cases of irregular travel and 48 cases of impersonation were detected and necessary fine amount was collected.

In all, an amount of Rs. 16.24 lakh was collected as penalty amount during the Special Drives.

Southern Railway has given out of turn promotion to Bibin Mathew, Deputy CTI / Palakkad as CTI (Chief Ticket Inspector) in higher grade as per Scale 7 in appreciation of his achievements in Athletics.
He has participated in 18 International Athletic Championships, the latest of which was the 2017 Asian Athletic Championships.In the 2017 All India Railway Meet, he won Gold Medals in 400 metres and 4 x 400 relay events.
Bibin Mathew also gave outstanding performances in consecutive Open Nationals and has won 75 medals so far at national level.He secured the 2nd position in the 52nd Open Nationals held during September, 2012 in Chennai.He secured the 3rd position in the 53rd Open Nationals held during September, 2013 in Ranchi and the 2nd position in the 54th Open Nationals held during November, 2014 in New Delhi.

ग्रामीण इलाकों में आनलाइन सरकारी सेवाओं के लिए बनाए गए साझा सेवा केंद्रों (सीएससी)  पर जल्द ही टिकट बुकिंग शुरू के जाएगी | आईटी मंत्रालय और रेल मंत्रालय ने इसके लिए एक समझौता किया है जिसमे 2.9 लाख सीएससी केंद्रों को रेल टिकट बुकिंग सक्षम बनाया जाएगा | सभी सीएससी में टिकट बुकिंग सुविधा अगले आठ से नौ महीनो में मिल जाएगी | 
सीएससी इंडिया साझा सेवा केंद्र देश भर के ग्रामीण इलाकों में सरकारी सेवाओं के लिए चलाती है | सीएससी के काउंटर बैंकों में भी स्थापित करने की संभावना तलाशी जा रही है |

रेलवे बोर्ड ने कर्मचारियों के पेपर वाले मेडिकल कार्ड का कलेवर बदलने का निर्णय किया है। जल्द ही प्लॉस्टिक कोटेड मेडिकल कार्ड जारी किया जाएगा। इस मामले में बोर्ड की ट्रांसफॉर्मेशन सेल के एग्जीक्यूटिव डायरेक्टर राजेश गुप्ता ने आदेश जारी कर दिए हैं। इसमें रेलकर्मी का जोन, मेडिकल कार्ड नम्बर, वैलिडिटी, हेल्थ यूनिट, ब्लड ग्रुप, हस्ताक्षर, जन्मतिथि, फोटो जैसी सभी जानकारी रहेंगी।

After the implementation of monsoon time table, railway has decide to revise the attachment of 1 AC 2 Tier coach and Glass Top vista Dome coach from train number 12051 / 12051 Dadar – Madgaon Jn. - Dadar Jan Shatabdi Express.

• Train number 12051 Dadar - Madgaon Jan Shatabadi will run with Glass Top coaches on Monday, Thursday and Saturday from June 12 to September 24 and with 2 Tier AC coach on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from June 14 to September 24.
• Train number 12052 Madgaon - Dadar an Shatabadi will run with Glass Top coaches on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from June 14 to September 24 and with 2 Tier AC coach on Wednesday, Saturday and Monday from June 12 to September 25.

• 12051 Dadar - Madgaon Jan Shatabadi will run with Glass Top coaches on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
• 12052 Madgaon - Dadar an Shatabadi will run with Glass Top coaches on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday

In the weekly safety meeting held on June 11, discussions on recent incidents formed a major part. After the meeting, North Central Railway decided to take precaution this monsoon season and to avoid any mishap it will man all Limited Height Subway (LHS) locations. This will ensure that there will no disruption caused in track geometry as soil settlesdown due to rainfall.

GM also advised that Champhering of all the bolt holes of rails should be ensured so that microscopic cracks from the bolt holes are eliminated and integrity of the track is ensured. A team will conduct a thorough audit of the track-maintenance where rail fracture case occurs frequently in North Central Railway.

Unserviceable coaches standing in station yards will also be disposed of to avoid any unholy activity of miscreants in such coaches. It was decided in the meeting that pruning of trees vulnerable to fall on track and obstruct the movement of train must also be done .

GM - NCR advised that all care should be taken to prevent throwing of garbage o­n railway tracks while cleaning the platform area, so as to prevent clogging of the ballast and resultant build-up of water/moisture o­n the tracks.
