Shri Indra Ghosh, General Manager, East Coast Railway praised the Railway doctors for the first ever total knee replacement surgery at Railway Central Hospital, Mancheswar and also given a cash award to the doctors and paramedical staffs engaged in the surgery.A total knee replacement surgery has been performed successfully on a 58 year old Railway Employee at the Railway Central Hospital, Bhubaneswar, recently.Shri L. N. Mishra, Head Constable of RPF at Chandrasekharpur was admitted to the Railway Central Hospital with a complaint of severe pain in his left knee and was advised for a total knee replacement surgery.A team of orthopedic surgeons comprising of Dr. D. Mishra (Ortho Consultant), Dr. J. Jena, & Dr. Sk. Sirajuddin, Sr. Divisional Medical Officers of East Coast Railway examined the patient and made the surgery of the total knee replacement at Central Hospital successfully.Railway has saved more than rupees one Lakh, which had to be spent at a cost of rupees, 2.5 lakhs in a private hospital. This is the beginning of the Special Implant Surgery, which will be taken up in more cases depending on the need of the railway employees. | ||
