After five months of accident a 21-year-old youth came to know that he is 'dead' in the railway records.On April 4 this year, a youth identified as Santosh Hernia, resident of Mukherjee Nagar met with an accident near Laxmi Bai nagar railway crossing. While crossing the tracks, a local train ran over him. Santosh was admitted at the Shri Aurbindo Institute of Medical Sciences. Both the legs of Santosh were badly injured and were amputated during the treatment.Railways have sent letters in this regard but the family members in absence of Santosh didn't opened the letter.Santosh told DNA, "When I returned home in first week of August, I came to know that I have been declared dead by the railway officials."Santosh is running from pillar to post to prove himself alive. Unable to bear treatment fees, Santosh's mother Janki Bai took him to district collector seeking financial assistance."District collector informed us to visit the railway officials. My mother had gone to visit the railway officials," Santosh told DNA over phone. |
