The much awaited Salem-Karur new railway line work will be completed by the end of October this year, Salem Divisional Railway Manager Sujatha Jayaraj has said.“There will be no further delay in the completion of the new railway line. We expect all the works to be completed by October end to commence the operations,” she told media persons here on Tuesday.Ms. Sujatha, however, said the railway administration was yet to decide on the trains that would be operated on the new line. The operation of trains on this line would not undermine the importance of other railway stations including Erode. The railway would ensure growth in all the railway stations, she said.Earlier, she inspected passenger amenities at the Erode railway station and asked officials to improve the sanitary conditions. She expressed disappointment over the efforts taken to keep the station clean and urged the officials to put in more efforts to enhance the conditions. She also reviewed the development works being carried out in the station and discussed various issues with the officials in a meeting held on the station premises. Senior officials accompanied Ms. Sujatha during the inspection. |
