CHENNAI: In a scene reminiscent from a Bollywood film, a 22-year-old youth got separated from his wife and young son after they boarded different trains in their native state of Bihar, with the woman taking a train to Chennai. Kumar Gautam Shahi, a sales representative and resident of West Champaran district of Bihar, started from their native town and reached Muzaffarpur railway station from where they took another train to Patna on April 27. “It was very crowded and in the melee, I got into one train and my wife and son apparently into another,” he told Express. On April 30, Shahi got a call on his cell phone from his wife Anjali Shahi (20), saying she had arrived at the Central Railway Station in Chennai with their son Ashiq Babu (2). “She was calling me from her mobile phone,” he said. “I told her to wait there and that I will come and collect them in a day or two.” Meanwhile, there were no further calls from Anjali and Shahi thought that the battery of his wife’s cell phone must have completely drained. She did not call from the landline too. He arrived in the city on the night of May 2 and searched for his wife and son all over the Central Railway Station, but could not find them. Shahi then approached the Government Railway Police and lodged a complaint with them the same day. |
