To increase passenger safety during train travel Western railway has raised height of 56 platforms across 28 stations on Suburban local network. For safety of passengers railway is increasing height from 840mm to 920mm and there are 144 platforms where platform’s height will be raised. Increased height will allow passengers and commuters alighting and boarding suburban trains safely. Railway says work on remaining 88 platforms will soon be completed. Recently Western Railway celebrated 164th anniversary of the first train which ran from Bori Bunder and Thane on April 16, 1853. |
