The Vigilance department of South Central Railway has conducted intensive special drives to curb all types of irregularities and malpractices involving train journeys in the peak traffic months of April and May, 2018 across all divisions over the Zone.
During the special drive, 894 people were detected travelling without tickets while 908 people were found travelling with irregular tickets, circumventing the law. 255 passengers were detected carrying un-booked luggage, beyond the permissible limit. 152 people were found travelling o­n un-authorized transfer of tickets i.e., tickets not originally issued o­n their name. An amount of Rs. 12.60 Lakh has been realized as penalty for the irregularities detected and charged, during the entire drive.
In checks against un-authorized vending, 11 persons were caught and handed over to the Railway Protection Force for further action. 46 checks have been conducted at Reservation Offices (PRS Offices) of all major stations and satellite locations across the six division of SCR, to detect touting activities and the working of Reservation Offices. o­ne Tout was apprehended during the checks, while four irregularities were detected in issuing the Tatkal tickets.
