The Velankanni Link express between Velankanni-Chennai Egmore was flagged off here amidst much fanfare and reception on Saturday.Devoid of any stage talks, the brief event witnessed flagging off of five new coaches, bringing to fruition the link-express that was announced in the Railway Budget 2013. The train has one three-tier AC coach, two sleeper class coaches, and two general II class coaches (includes one second class-cum luggage coach) which were booked reflecting the good patronage for the service.The Velankanni–Chennai Egmore (Link) Velankanni Daily Express (16186) that departs Velankanni at 8.45 p.m. arrives in Chennai Egmore at 5.25 a.m. The Chennai Egmore – Velankanni (Link) Velankanni Daily Express (16185) will leave Chennai Egmore at 11.15 p.m. and reach Velankanni at 7.45 a.m.The Chennai Egmore – Velankanni – Chennai Egmore Link Express (16185/16186) will run with Chennai Egmore – Karaikal – Chennai Egmore Express (16175/16176) between Chennai Egmore – Nagapattinam – Chennai Egmore.The train will stop at Tambaram ,Chengalpet, Melmaruvathur, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Cuddalore Port Junction, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Peralam, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam. | ||
