To examine the safety aspects railway will do the first trial run of an engine on the track towards the newly renovated Cochin Harbour Terminus railway station. On Wednesday this trial run is likely to take place. Through trial run officials will examine safety aspects of track and will also look into track alignment and levelling. From Ernakulam Junction this trial run will begin and will continue till harbour station. Work on the railway line is almost complete and the new rails will be brought on a special goods train. Passenger service may kick-start from first week of April. The diesel locomotive will run after a gap of almost 10 years. The railways is carrying out the engineering work and renovation of the old building at a cost of Rs 80 lakh. | ||
