Train service in the north east has been adversely affected due to the ongoing violence in lower Assam, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said today. "In view of the serious law and order situation in lower Assam, running of trains have been affected and passengers are stranded in various stations," NFR chief public relation officer S Hajong told PTI here. Howrah-Dibrugarh Kamrup Express is stranded at Kamakhyaguri since 2.45 pm while Kolkata-Guwahati Garibrath Express is held up at New Coochbehar since 1.47 pm. The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Guwahati Express is stranded at New Alipurduar since 2.28 pm and the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express at New Coochbehar station, he said. The Anand Vihar-Guwahati North East express is stranded at Dhupguri since 10.35 am, while Ranchi-Kamakhya Express and Danapur-Kamakhya Express are being regulated at Alipurduar station. Among the down trains affected are Dibrugarh-Kamakhya Express at New Bongaigaon while Guwahati-Howrah Saraighat Express, Jammu Tawi Lohit Express, Dibrugarh-Chennai Express and Guwahati-Alipurduar Sifung Express could not resume their onward journey from Guwahati, he said. Efforts are on to resume train services, Hajong added. |
