The Bangalore Division of the South Western Railway on Tuesday paid Rs. 1 lakh as compensation to each of the 14 grievously injured passengers in the Hampi Express accident.The Railways is in the process of paying Rs. 5 lakh as compensation to each of the kin of 17 passengers who died in the accident.Of the 25 dead, 23 have been identified Meanwhile, the Railways disbursed Rs. 15,000 to the next of deceased, Rs. 5,000 to the grievously injured and Rs. 500 to passengers who sustained simple injuries. Two teams of officials visited the Railway Hospital, Bangalore; Sanjay Gandhi Trauma and Orthopaedic Centre, Bangalore; and Sri Satya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam Hospital, Puttaparthi, to hand over the amount to the injured. | ||
