Nellore: The tragic fire accident on Tamil Nadu Express on Monday that left at least 32 passengers dead is being probed from all angles.Although the most plausible cause of the fire is said to be an electrical short-circuit near the toilets in S11 coach, railway officials are not ruling other reasons, especially sabotage. As per reports, the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) in his statement has cast doubt about the role of three persons who were travelling without confirmed tickets. The TTE said they were standing near the toilets and looked suspicious.Meanwhile, the Divisional Railway Manager has claimed that an explosion was heard by some passengers immediately before the fire.New Delhi-Chennai Tamil Nadu Superfast Express was travelling at around 100 kmph when the sudden fire – at 4.30 am - swept through the coach catching the sleeping passengers unawares. The ill-fated coach has been brought to Nellore station for further investigation. The exact reason behind the fire is expected to be clear after the probe. |
