Feasibility study for running first semi-high speed Tejas train on Mumbai – Surat route is completed by Western Railway and a final report will be submitted soon. As per plan, Tejas train will depart from Dadar at 07:20AM and will arrive Surat at 10:50AM. Similarly in the return direction it will depart at 04:55PM and will arrive Dadar at 08:35PM. The total journey will last three and half hours which also includes eight stoppages in total. Interestingly, total journey time is 15 minutes more than of Shatabdi Express journey time; however Shatabdi halts at only two stations – Borivali and Vapi. Tejas is targeted at the business traveller, who is willing to pay more for better service and more comfort. The fare is expected to be 20-30 per cent more than the ticket price for a Shatabdi ride. |
