The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda on Saturday demanded that the Ministry of Railways take up construction of a new railway station near the KSRTC bus-stand in Hassan, considering the city’s growth.He spoke to journalists after interacting with Railway officers on the long-pending projects in Hassan district.“After a long time, we have a Railway Minister from Karnataka. I hope M. Mallikarjun Kharge will address issues pertaining to pending projects in Karnataka. I have appealed him to give due attention to projects related to Hassan,” he said.Mr. Gowda said land had been allotted to the Railways for the construction of the station. The work should start soon. “I am ready to talk to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on releasing the State government’s share of funds for the work. A flyover needs to be constructed to avoid regular traffic congestion at the level-crossing in the city,” he said.Mr. Gowda, along with Railway officers inspected the land notified for the railway station and the site of the proposed flyover. Senior officers of the Mysore Division of South Western Railway, MLAs H.D. Revanna and H.S. Prakash and MLC Patel Shivaram were also present. | ||
