South Western Railway (SWR) pipped second-seeded South Central Railway (SCR) 3–2 to claim the men’s team title in the All-India Inter Railway Badminton Championships being held at Secunderabad on Tuesday.Mohit Kamat gave SWR a flying start, ousting Vinay Kumar Reddy (SCR) 15-21, 22-20, 21-14, but T. Nagendra (SWR) lost to Ajay Kumar (SCR) 14-21, 17-21, to draw level at 1-1.When the pair Mohit Kamat and Anilkumar Raju lost to Jayan James and Tirupati Dinesh 21-19, 22-24, 18-21, SWR were trailing 1-2. However, S. Sanjeeth (SWR) trounced Kiran Kumar Behera 21-19, 29-27, levelling the score.In a decisive match, duo S. Sanjeeth and Jagadheesh Yadav put on a superb display to overcome their opponents Kiran Kumar Behera and Vinay Kumar Reddy (SCR) 16-21, 21-13, 21-15, to clinch the trophy for SWR. | ||
