The state anti-terrorism squad (ATS) and Pune crime branch police are now considering the possibility of the Jungli Maharaj Road serial blasts suspects having walked down to the Shivajinagar railway station after planting bombs on the busy road on August 1.The investigators are collecting footage from the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in establishments on various roads leading to the railway station from Deccan Gymkhana side.The state ATS chief Rakesh Maria formed several teams of the ATS and crime branch officials, each headed by a senior police inspector, to deal with specific aspects of the investigation. Five such teams have been collecting the CCTV footages from across the city. The ATS and crime branch officials, sources say, have noted the movements of two men in the CCTV footages collected from Phadke Houd area.Now, CCTV footages of establishments on lanes of Fergusson College Road, Karve Road, University Road, stretch of Jungli Maharaj Road from Balgandharva Rangmandir to Sancheti Hospital and other lanes and bylanes in Shivajinagar area are being collected.A senior police officer told DNA on condition of anonymity, “We suspect that after planting the bombs on JM Road, the suspects may have walked down to the Shivajinagar railway station. Hence, we started collecting footages of the establishments in the area. Besides, we have also been talking to local residents.” |
