The Red Ribbon Express, which reached Nalgonda on Tuesday for a two-day halt, received good public response with students outnumbering the visitors. They went round the coaches showing keenness to learn about the HIV/AIDS -- the main objective of the train trip organised by the Andhra Pradesh AIDS Control Society. Activists of several voluntary agencies and members of women organisations/SHGs were present in good numbers. Members of the Satya Sai Seva Organisation provided drinking water to the visitors. The AIDS Control Society organised a blood donation camp. Outside the Nalgonda railway station, Collector N. Mukteswara Rao, In-charge Joint Collector Neelakantam, and others addressed a public meeting. The Collector asked Mr. Neelakantam to provide Antyodaya cards and free LPG connections to AIDS patients. He called for steps to generate confidence among the HIV affected patients with a humane approach. |
