The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has suggested building a new Metro station at Jos junction in the south to allow extension of the Metro Rail to West Kochi and to shift the station planned before the Maharajas College to a location near the Mullassery Canal Road.The DMRC came up with the suggestions at a meeting with managing director of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL), Tom Jose here on Friday to discuss the shifting of the Metro stations, especially the Vyttila station to the mobility hub.It was decided at the meeting to take a final decision on integrating the Metro station with the Vyttila mobility hub after a feasibility report is prepared by the design consultants.The Vyttila Mobility Hub Society is expected to assign the design work to a consultancy, which will submit the feasibility report.Present at the meeting were Vyttila Mobility Hub Society managing director, M. Beena, Kochi corporation secretary, Ajith Patil and DMRC project director , P. Sreeram.Meanwhile. the KMRL chief also held joint meetings with various government agencies like BSNL, Kerala State Electricity Board, Kerala Water Authority and civic bodies to discuss the shifting of water mains, electric and sewerage lines, streetlights and communication cables from the routes the Kochi Metro will take.Mr Jose requested the agencies to prepare a report and a detailed map on the number and location of utilities on the entire stretch of the Metro Rail before May 19.Based on the report, the KMRL will draw up a plan for shifting the utilities and the work will be carried out by the DMRL under supervision of the utility agencies. |
