The first rail budget subsumes in the General Budget will likely to focus on running trains at higher speed and allocation of Rs. 20,000 crore safety funds. Besides these two things, thrust can also be given to boost infrastructure, laying of new lines, station redevelopment and electrification process. Connectivity for religious places and making stations disabled friendly will also be mentioned in the budget. Fencing of Delhi – Mumbai and Delhi Howrah routes will also be announced so that government’s ambitious project of running trains at 200kmph might become a reality. Fencing of these routes will cost government an estimated Rs. 21,000 crore. This project will also be funded by banks, LIC or World Bank as per sourced. The budget is likely to announce a separate safety find of about Rs 1 lakh crore. |
