With the aim of catering to the rush during festivals, two holiday special trains were started from Chandigarh Railway Station on Monday. In some trains additional coaches have been added. Owing to the festival season the waiting list is running long and getting reservations is a tough task. An additional train was started on Monday between Delhi and Chandigarh. The train that was earlier plying between Delhi and Panipat has been extended to Chandigarh. This daily train will ply till November 30. A train between Chandigarh and Varanasi was also started. This will continue till December 2.A holiday special train between Chandigarh and Dibrugarh will ply every Sunday till December 2. In a few trains additional coaches have been added.The bi-weekly train to Bandra has been provided with two additional coaches. The Chandigarh-Kochuveli train as well as the train between Chandigarh and Lucknow have additional coaches for this month.During the festival season the passenger traffic to and from the city increases. Additional trains are then introduced to cater to the rush. A Railways official said that the trains were running packed and there was a waiting list as well. The special trains would continue till the end of the month. |
