South Eastern Railway has tightened security in railway stations and trains in view of the serial bomb blasts in Pune and the all India alert sounded by the government.Random anti sabotage checks at stations and trains were being conducted and also random frisking of passengers were being done at major railway stations, a press release issued by S E Railway said here today.The South Eastern Railway's 25 sniffer dogs were being used for anti-sabotage checks at major stations like Kharagpur, Tatanagar, Rourkela, Bankura Adra, Bokaro, Ranchi and Muri. Announcements were being done in major stations to inform the RPF and GRP about unclaimed, unattended objects, luggage or suspicious objects on railway premises, it said. The TTEs and coach attendants and running staff were asked to look for suspicious or inflammable objects and immediately bring it to the notice of the RPF and GRP.The RPF and the railway staff have been advised to keep constant vigil against suspicious-looking persons entraining or detraining at stations.Coaches from the stabling yard were being brought locked to stations while dustbins and toilets etc at stations were being cleaned on a regular basis.Close co-ordination was being maintained between the RPF and GRP and local police, with the security drive to continue till August 15, it said. |
