South Eastern Railway's general manger A K Verma, who is holding additional charge of general manager (construction), N F Railway, has requested the Jalpaiguri district magistrate to produce papers for section 6(i) regarding land acquisition to facilitate connection of the two lines under construction to Siliguri. Mr Verma, who was here on a two-day visit for inspection of the 61.79 kms long new broad gauge railway line from New Mal junction to Changrabandha (via Malbazar-Baradighi-Neoranadi-Lataguri-Domohani-Maynaguri Road -Bhotepatti-New Changrabandha), said land was needed to complete the expansion work. Mr Verma said all major and minor bridges on this section along with the track laying work has been completed. Only the inter-locking work of level crossing gates and the earth work related to station platforms was partially required to be done. He said the "engine rolling" on this section has already been done successfully in March last after the completion of track linking work. He also held discussions on the modalities required for connecting New Mal Jn- Changrabandha and New Coochbehar- New Changrabandha new line to Siliguri through the commissioning of 'Y' connection. Mr Verma also inspected the new Changrabandha station which was in progressed. He said the work for new line should be completed by October, 2012. |
