Hyderabad : After more than two and half months after the Narasapur Express train accident near Renigunta in Chittoor, the Commissioner of Railway Safety today in its report has stated that the accident occurred due to 'Failure of persons other than Railway staff'.The South Central Railway (SCR) Safety Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Singh had conducted the inquiry into dashing of Tirupati-Mahilipatnam (Narsapur Express Train) with a Tractor Trailer loaded with cement blocks at ' C' class unmanned level crossing gate between Rachagunneri and Srikalahasti Railway stations on Renigunta-Gudur broad gauge double line electrified section of Guntakal Division in Chittoor district. Two railway staff were killed in the incident, according to an officials release here.In the report, the commissioner also recommended that the Railway administration, in association with state transport authorities should immediately organise joint campaign to check and control plying of overloaded vehicles through the unmanned level crossing as per the Motor vehicle Act.Railway Administration must ensure proper upkeep of unmanned level crossings, including maintenance of proper level, signage for warning the road users and speed breakers as required to be provided as per the laid down norms and standards, the Commissioner recommended.
