The Red Ribbon express, designed to create awareness on various diseases especially AIDS, TB and other contagious ailments will chug into Adilabad railway station at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. The inauguration will take place at 9 a.m. and will be attended by MLAs, MPs and other dignitaries from the district besides officials.Adilabad Collector A. Ashok told reporters here on Tuesday that the train will be open for visitors between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. He said the administration has made arrangements to mobilise about 5,000 visitors from neighbouring 11 mandals.Explaining about the provisions in the train, the Collector said the multimedia exhibition through the train will be beneficial even to illiterates. He said 480 volunteers and others will be trained during the two days on different aspects of the diseases. The platform No. 1 at the railway station will also feature blood donation camp where volunteers can donate blood, Mr. Ashok said. Concerned NGOs and the National Rural Health Mission will set up stalls on the platform, he added.Meanwhile, the South Central Railway has made arrangements for all regular trains to arrive on platforms 2 and 3 during the stay of the Red Ribbon express. According to Station Master Kalyanasundaram, drinking water arrengement for passengers has been made on those platforms. |
