For trail the whole system which is already operational in Delhi and Kolkata Metro services will be initially implemented on such stations where there is less traffic. CRIS is already working on the new flap gates in Delhi Division for pilot project. In next three months railway is hoping to install its first flap gate system at Brar square station in Delhi division in three months. Railway will monitor the whole process at the station after which there will be further decision to persist with the system or let it go. During rush hour this system allows fast and seamless entry of passengers in to the station besides obliterating the job of ticket examiners on the station. Railway is already dealing with the shortage of TTEs. "We chose Brar station for conducting the trial because the passenger rush is limited here," said the official. As a first step, the entire station will be fenced so that no passenger escapes without ticket. It costs about Rs 4 lakh to install the automatic gate with bar code facility. |
