The railways have decided to slap a 15 per cent Busy Season Charge on all commodities, to be moved with effect from October 1. This charge will be levied between October and June. The decision comes ahead of the revision in the six monthly exercise to adjust fuel prices, also due on October 1. Sources expect the fuel adjustment component to push up freight charges by another five to seven per cent. —K. Balchand | ||
