AHMEDABAD: The Indian Railways have decided to increase the salary of gangmen working in the country who will now be called 'track maintainer' instead of gangmen.The same has been revised in the grade of Rs 1,900, Rs 2,400 and Rs 2,800.The gangman were earlier working in grade of 1800. J G Mahurkar, General Secretary of the Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh said that the railways were forced to increase the grades for the gangmen following the agitation launched by the National Federation of Indian Railway and Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh (WRMS).Mahurkar said that the railways also changed the designation of the gangmen. They will now be called track maintainer.He said that because the railways have decreased the quota of promotion, they have decided to launch a project in Mumbai, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Ratlam division.The WRMS demanded that all the recommendations of the Joint Committee of Railway Board should be accepted. |
