Aadhaar based ticketing system for PRS tickets through counter and internet for senior citizen will be withdrawn. According to Indian Railway, senior citizen concession cannot be denied for the reason that he or she does not hold Aadhaar card. Railway will continue to offer senior citizen concession irrespective of Aadhaar, however any document showing their age is a must while travelling. Railway has also confirmed that any senior citizen can book tickets through internet or reservation counters without aadhaar card. Earlier, Ministry of Railways has decided to make aadhaar based verification mandatory for getting concessional tickets for senior citizen from 1st April, 2017 and during journey senior citizen passengers has to carry any of the original documents including Aadhaar Card as notified from time to time for the purpose of identity proof. But, now the implementation of aadhaar based ticketing system has been withdrawn with immediate effect. | ||
