In a letter to union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, NFIR (National Federation of Indian Railwaymen) has asked to raise the tax limit exemption to 6 lakh rupees and 7.5 lakh rupees for senior citizens. Another demand has also been made to exempt transport allowance from the purview of Income Tax. Additional rail funds is sought for augmenting railway training institutes, recreation clubs and community halls of railways. For women railway employees demand of separate rest rooms at different locations is also made as it will help them to stay during extra railway duties. Besides all these, additional demand for road mobile medical vans are made that will help in treatment of railway employee families living at remote locations. The Railway Budget has been merged with the General Budget and will be presented by Jaitley in Parliament on February 1. |
