Earlier Prime Minister made a call to well heeled people to give up their LPG subsidies and now a similar call can be made by railway department to give up subsidy on railway tickets to well heeled passengers. According to reports railway will soon ask passengers to voluntarily give up their subsidy on their tickets during reservation. Fro next month this plan can be rolled out. Sources say that two slabs of subsidy surrender can be offered — 50 percent and 100 percent of the subsidy amount. Since last year, Railways had started printing the subsidy "burden of 57%" and it is bearing in the train tickets to make passengers aware of the "real cost" involved in the travel. |
