Railway is showing strictness towards food vendors serving food to on-board passengers. After several complaints of bad quality food, railway has cancelled a license of one contractor and 16 more got blacklisted. Apart from this, in last one year railway imposed a total fine of 1.80 crore rupees on 2,108 caterers. According to railway, railway officials are constantly monitoring the quality of food served to passengers. Railway has also formed a centralized catering service monitoring cell so that whole catering process can be kept under lens consistently. Besides, railway has also issued a toll-free number – 1800 – 111 – 321 for passengers on which passengers can register their complaints directly. According to railway official, on an average daily railway receive 250 to 300 complaints from passengers. |
