According senior railway official’s rail budget will be more of a statement of expected expenditure and revenue rather than announcement of new trains in future. It will also demonstrate allocation of resources and budgetary support. Although there are various demands like DEMU train to Ratlam, Lucknow and Raebareli or a weekly train to Goa; it all will be done automatically without mentioning in the budget. Railway is already loaded with infrastructure enhancement projects for the next 4 years. Railway also have to generate funds for the swift completion of the projects. Continued push on upgrades of speed, safety, technology and capacity, including electrification, doubling, tripling, quadrupling of lines, automatic signalling, train protection and warning systems, production of new types of locomotives and rolling stock will continue to be the focus for the railways from now on. Railway is also concerned about timely execution of projects rather than just continuous launch of new projects. To monitor pace of projects railway also decided to create a special function of monitoring but not much headway has been made. |
