PUNE: Rail traffic on the Pune-Mumbai route was affected for a few hours after an express train ran over three stray cows near Talegaon on Tuesday midnight.

The railway personnel had a tough time removing the remains of the animals stuck below the engine. The cows which had strayed on to the tracks were run over by the Chennai-Mumbai express. The railways had to cancel two suburban local trains early morning on Wednesday. Some express trains going towards Mumbai were also delayed because of the incident, railway officials added.
